I've migrated from Autocad 2005 to ACAD LT 2014. After using it for a couple of weeks I find the angle and length display on the line command more of a distraction. Can I turn this feature off?
View 3 RepliesI have a line that i would ideally like to divide into 3 equal segments. The divide command places points along the line, but I can't snap to them.
I know that I can place a block at each point which I could snap to, but is there a way of doing it without creating a block? Also is there a command that actually splits a line into 3 equal-length lines?
I'm working with some else on 2012 and I hate the stupid floating command line. How can I turn it off ?

I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).
I was wondering if there is a way with DB's to have a line "follow" or "grow" with the content/value length of an attribute. Maybe some method of linking the attribute width to length of the line? Essentially, it would work just like turning on the underline setting when typing in mtext editor (or any program with an underline option for that matter), expect that the line could be placed anywhere, and would not have to reside directly below the text.

The alignment is stationed and set to display PI symbols (triangle) at each change of direction. However, steel pipe is relatively flexible so small changes in direction (a few degrees) are irrelevant and I do not want the PI symbols to display in those areas. Is there a setting (a tolerance so-to-speak) in Civil 3D to edit when PI symbols are displayed for an alignment. For example, I want to set it such that PI symbols are not displayed unless the alignment changes direction by more than 10 degrees at a given PI.

I face problem to draw angles. Normally angle are defined clearly but if they show the angle b/t two lines . Then may problem to understand . More clearly view image. I want to draw line with these angles more quickly and easily.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been practicing using a older book(copyright 1990) and it has some decent exercises in it. I was able to do this one but it seems I can"t find the proper way to do this..First drawing a line a certain distance..ortho on,click the first point anywhere,move curser to the left and click again. that gives me a line at 180 degrees at what ever length..Line command again starting at the second point of the first line..after clicking that point,I type in @2.38<150 that gives me a line2.38 long at 150 degrees..now how do i make a third line relative to the second line so that the angle is 75 degrees and a certain length..the picture shows what I am trying to draw..using the polar cordinates you get an angle based off the UCS( which is set at world) when you try to draw the third line ..that makes the angle between line 2 an 3 not the angle that I want..To make the drawing,I rotated the ucs -30 degrees..But there has to be a better way than that..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI press CTRL+9 to make the Command Line disappear while drawing. When I plot (or when doing a plot preview) , the Command Line appears again by itself. So I always have to turn the Command Line off manually after each plot
The bug still happens;
- if Dynamic Input is turned off or on
- if I plot to a real device or in PDF
- if the Cammand Line Palette i docked or floating.
This is not an issue in AutoCAD 2012 so I guess it has to do with the new way they programmed the revamped Command Line palette in 2013.

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.
line command is a multiple command. there is a way to execute it like a single command?

I have no problem compiling it from source - in fact have modified to suit our needs already - but cannot not grasp from GIMP documentation what modifications I need to make it run in NONINTERACTIVE mode. (We have very large images, need to batch process them ....)

Basically I got a process which is quite long , let's say 30 seconds.
I want put a counter at command line showing to
user how many objects has been processed so far. But I don't want to use New Line Feed to change the line and keep each new number at same line and same location of command line.
I seem to have lost my command bar on my AutoCAD 2012 drawings. I looked into Options and can not seem to find the command to turn it back on.

When I select the line tool and specify the base point and type how long it should be i.e. 3' and a red box appears around the dimension box and the line isn't drawn. I tried not specifying a unit of length and it draws the line just fine. But for some reason it wont complete the line if I specify feet or inches.

The '@' symbol take time to register - instead of registering immediately as previously. In other words, when a dimension is small, and the arrowheads flip to the outside of the dimension parameter, the text and the extension line outside of the dimension seems to go to far outside of the dimension area..
Can I control how far outside of the dimension area that this line and text are placed? They seem to go to far out on my drawings. I prefer them to be closer to the actual dimension area instead of extending so far out.. Didn't know if there was a control for this and where to find it.

Is there a tool where you just click on any line and it tells you how long the line is from end to end?
Basically I am drawing a curvy line that twists and turns here and there, but the line has to be less then so long. So I have to approximate the length by doing strait measurements and multiplying, it's really a pain.
I'd much rather just click the line, and it tell me how long it is from end to end, across turns and rounded edges and corners.
For example, I have a 10cmx10cm grid with lines every 1cm. I want to turn this square into a triangle by reducing the length of the top edge to a single point. The final image should show the vertical lines reaching up towards the top centre, while still leaving the horizontal lines 1cm apart.
Using DISTORT will push the vertical lines up towards the top, producing uneven spaces between the lines. How do I avoid this? know it would be easy to recreate the desired triangular grid from scratch, but this is just an example of my problem. I need to apply the solution to graphics which cannot be reproduced again - i.e. bitmaps.
how to turn off the little flyout menu that comes up when I am trying to use the LAYFRZ command and am selecting an object that is either extremely close to an object on another layer, or directly on top of an object on another layer. I am trying to quickly select a lot of layers to turn off, and when zoomed out I keep having to pick from the drop down menu which one I want to freeze.
I do not need to have this option on most of the time and would LOVE to turn it off as it is slowing me down a lot.
