I could draw a cylindrical spring with helix and sweep command but don't know how to draw an elliptical coil spring. What are the commands or steps to get it. Also, I have problems in getting dimensions of radius and height for the coil spring. I use autocad 2014.
geometrical shape as I have been unable to create a region out of it using the Boundary Command. I have also tried the Polyline Command without success. Is the problem related to the Elliptical Arc or Spline present in the drawing? If so, what can be done?

I'm attempting to plot a drawing with a 3d shape and a title block around it. I would like for the occluded lines to not be drawn therefore I'm using the hidden visual style and set shade plot to hidden as well.
My problem arises from the quality of the plot to PDF versus the quality coming out of a printer. It is just a 8.5x11 page. The pdf comes out with horrible anti-aliasing and jagged lines, whereas the print is entirely smooth. Is there something simple I'm missing? It would be even better to find a way to make the plot to PDF come out in vector format! I know it is possible to show the layers and have them vectorized in a PDF... How is this done?
I have a job where there are 3 round pipes and one elliptical pipe going into the same structure. When I put a label on the structure, it shows all 4 pipes, but I can't figure a way to show the elliptical pipe dimensions as 29x45; It only comes in as 45" RCP. I have tried to manipulated the text, but it won't let me me change the individual pipe text in the structure label. When I change the label to read Height x Width, the round pipes show the same as elliptical pipe. Is there a way for my label to show 3 round and 1 elliptical pipe size, or do I have to manually add the elliptical pipe size (which I'd prefer not to do)?

I've attached a pdf of the structure in question.
I need to put a 42 x 29 Arch Pipe in my drawing. I found a 44 x 27 in the elliptical arch catalog. But I can't get it to let me create one that's 42 x 29.
And I'm also having trouble making a label for it. This is one of three culvert pipes in this network. The other two are round 36" CMP. The label for those says XX' of 36" POLY-COATED CMP @ x.xx%. Once I need the label for this third pipe to show as XX' of 42" x 29" ARCH PIPE @ x.xx%.
When I tried to make the label style, I saw "Pipe Inner Diameter or Width". But I didn't see one for height.
I try to sweep along spline that made of elliptical arc and line.
Funny thing that I was able to create a solid few days ago by doing this method. Now I can't!
I tried even reload Autocad.

I'm trying to use the Elliptical Marquee Tool in Photoshop cs3 extended to draw out a circle, however the circle is not a circle at all? It draws out a plus sign instead. For the life of me I can't figure how to set it to draw out a circle like it should.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've been working with Inventor 2011 - Pro and have not had any success with utilizing a bolted connection (blind hole) in an FEA stress analysis. I have reviewed and one suggestion involved a using a bolt placed "as custom" instead of "as standard". It appears however that there is a default setting that I currently have which doesn't allow this as a selection.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThe SSA literature states to use an On Sag inlet to model an inlet used in the middle of a parking lot.
This is more commonly known as an "Area Inlet" application, and is also used in areas such as airport runways, greenbelts and golf courses.
To develop the correct operating head relationship over the grate, we need to be able to enter a stage-storage curve starting from the grate elevation. This will develop the "cone" shape storage needed to develop the correct head elevation over the grate.
It appears looking at the On Sag options there is only the Ponded Area parameter available; the same parameter found in a Junction. This calculates the head elevation as a function of the ponded volume and a constant area.
I want to confirm that the On Sag inlet application used as an Area inlet, is using all four sides, full perimeter = 2(L+W), of the inlet for the weir flow calculations before orifice flow controls, not just 3 sides as a grate on a curb.

I have this special type of callout, which is not easy to draft, but it looks pretty in plans. Is there any easy way to convert this to multileader?
Usually, I create it as block, insert it and change location of solid arrow around textbox. If I want to relocate this callout, Its not that easy as like multileader. I have to move solid arrow around textframe (from one corner to other) to point the same location. can this be done automatically (like mleader?)
