I have coordinates for an aerofoil which I put into Autocad and plotted using pline. I have 52 points, what I want is to have more points on the aerofoil, i.e interpolate. I can probably create more points by averaging two adjacent y-points and two adjacent x-points but it would be much better if Autocad did this
the LIST command only gives the points i put in the program.

These 8 points are for 4 sampling locations with 2 depths for each sampling location. I used AutoCAD 2012 a little bit before and I am new in using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013. What are the key steps and tips of using the values of XYZ-coordinates listed the above-mentioned table to input manually into the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 program. Note: 4 sampling locations are in the 4 corners of a square lot and the 8 points should look like 8 corners of a box.
I wanna interpolate points from surface but only in that area where my sample lines intersecting with the surface. There is a point creation tool that makes this based on polylines but I have to many data and it will get to much time to do this. So, for better understanding I attached some pictures, in the first picture it is shown the final result which I have made based on polylines, but here is also a problem, the tool is not putting points where the surface is changing ( on my second picture I highlighted with red circles).

Are there Inventor 2013 plugin (i.e., add-on, 3rd party, AP) to convert a list 3D Cartesian coordinate system locations (i.e., points) to Inventor to work points(x, y, z)?
I found that I cannot create 3D points in the assembly. Is this correct? I did find that an Inventor part may be used to create a 3D sketch that creates points in 3D space. In the past few days, I found two ways to create 3D points within a iPRT; the batch way uses an Excel file but it then does not allow me to name the points in the feature tree. The second way is to create them one at a time but that take way too much time.
How do I get the last input to come up when pressing the up arrow key? Say I'm drawing a line & input @10,10. When I press the up arrow, the coordinates come up. How do I get @10,10 to come up? I've changed it before, but I can't remember how & I can't think of what to search for.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just stated using AutoCAD 2006 this summer as an intern for an engineering department. The program has become pretty easy to use and I thought i was getting the hang of it.
All of a sudden, when i draw a line, circle, or another shape, i can't see the input bar that floats at the end of the line.
What im talking about is the small display that always sticks to the end of the object your drawing. It displays the angle the line is drawn at, you can see what measurement you're typing in.
I am busy writing a small app to find a best fit circle through a series of points that roughly follow the profile of an arc. This data was scanned in using a Farro arm and imported to AutoCAD.
I would like to use VB.Express and the AutoCAD API. So far I have managed to write some code (loosely based on some examples from the AutoCAD .NET Developer's Guide) to allow the user to select the points to process.
I have three questions around this issue:
a.) How can I set up a selection filter to limited the user's input to 2d points only?
b.) Once I have the selection set of points, how can I extract the "X" and "Y" values of each of the points to be able to process further?
c.) Is there some sort of Object model diagram for the AutoCAD API that I can download, or any (downloadable) literature to get started with the API and VB.Express. I have looked online for some books and Amazon list them, but a. they are in hardcopy format and b.) the most recommended one (i.e. VB.NET Programming for AutoCAD Customization - Level 1 Jeremy Winters) is out of print. I am specifically looking for downloadable books because of the delivery times and shipping costs to get a hard copy.
I want to draw 3D pipe line using sweep command. For this first i have to make a path in poly line, that i couldn't yet.
Check attached file green and red line and make a single poly line instead of 2 red or green line.
I have been using the "LIST" command to get coordinates of a point. The list can be as long as my monitor is high. I need to copy the coordinates of about 3 000 points to a Microsoft Word file to manipulate with them.
The "LIST" command would show me about 4 points after which i have to press "ENTER" to get the next ones, but this is obviously pointless. How could i get the coordinates of very many points to a text file all at once?
I'm trying to make a standard block which will automatically read the co-ordinates! i have started making it trying to use fields, but when inserting the block into the drawing it stays at x=0, y=0, which is the point in the block. how do i get it to read the point in the drawing, and also how would i always get it to read the world ucs.
i have attached the block i've started, haven't added any dynamics yet as i'm just testing it.

So I am attempting to create a simple grading daylight. I began with a 3D Polyline that has only 2 verticies. When I "Convert Feature Lines from Objects," it creates a feature line with 4 verticies. The 1st and last have the initial elevations from the 3D Poly, but the 2 new verticies seem to be pulling elevations off the surface below where I am working.
My questions are: 1) why are new verticies added? 2) can this be prevented?
I know that I can overwrite the slopes in elevation editor, but this seems like an unnecesarry extra step.

Any way of viewing the coordinates of the Control Vertices (Control Points) of 3d or 2d NURBS Surfaces. I tried to use the "properties" of the 3d NURBS surface that i designed but i could not find them anywhere..

I have a list function that asks for the user to pick points when it is run. It looks something like this (foo arg1 arg2) When invoked it asks the user to pick points and press enter when done It.
Instead of getting the points from the user i want to pass it a list of pre-defined points. The code cannot be changed so I must use it as is.Is this possible, if so how can it be done?
I have little Autolisp experience, what I need is a lisp routine that will divide a 3D Poly line to say about 1000 points and add index to the points from the start of the line to the end of the line. It is very important that the index be from the start to the end of the line, because we extract the info to excel and then use the x,y and z co-ordinate of the points on our hydraulic analysis program. We need to have the index and the x, y and z co-ordinates on our Excel sheet sorted by index and not by x, y and z.
To be more clear the 3D poly is a pipeline profile so we need to have the points in order by index and not by x, y and z.
I’m trying to export from my drawing point X-Y position coordinates to Excel for use in programming a metrology that will measure at these locations.
When I use the EATTEXT command to pull up the data extraction wizard, it will export the positions & extracts the locations to a spreadsheet format. But coordinate numbers I get, seem to be relative to the World USC system & not the origin I align & set in the center.
Yet when I use ID Point, to check positions the coordinates of the points are correct & relative to the center origin. How to get the location coordinates relative to the center USC origin I've located in the center of my part?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Civil 3D 2013Coordinates coming out of survey equipment are modified state plane GROUND (scaled up from the origin by the combined factor).Drawing is setup with state plane coordinate system with user defined transformation to establish geodetic reference and the ability to label lat/long or import Bing map data.Survey database is setup with "No Datum, No Projection" (data is already at ground, I don't want ot transformed).Import style is PNEZD and is set to use Northing/Easting not Grid Northing/Grid Easting.After importing points into survey database, coordinates of survey points match the CSV. This is good.After importing points from database to drawing, they are taken as grid coordinates, are scaled again and are off ~5,300 feet northeast.Why would Civil 3D assume the points in the database are grid and scale them when the import style used did not specify grid? Is there a setting or something I can do to tell Civil 3D to leave my coordinates alone?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI often create points manually. You get that dialogue box where you choose the layer and the default local coordinates, etc etc.
The local coordinates setting always defaults to Northing/Easting. (ditto the grid coordinates).
I set it to Easting/Northing as is standard around these parts and do my points, but if I close the box, when I reopen it to add more points later, it is back to Northing/Easting.
I cannot find a variable to control this behaviour.
I never need points to have north first and would like it to default to Easting/Northing at all times. Yes I'm using the Metric template.
Is there a way to change this default?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI want record a macro to update a title block. We've revised the formatting of our title block. The block name is the same, only some appearances change.
I noticed in the insert command, "You can replace an existing block definition with an external file by entering block name=file name." This would be great. I could just type in the block name and the file name and AutoCAD would replace the current with the new version in the file. Then do an ATTSYNC and we're done.

The path and the block name both have spaces in them. Is there any way to make AutoCAD stop taking the space as a return?
I've update AutoCAD 2012 to AutoCAD 2013 and I have a problem when I type "L" or "C" to draw a line or a circle, the command line says "Unknown command "L". Press F1 for help". It's the same thing if I fully type the command "line" or "Circle". But some other commands works normally.

I have a problem with Dynamic Input suddenly displaying dimensions in the middle of a line rather than on screen as I work. What I mean is that if I draw a line the length of the line is displayed at the center of the line. When I zoom in to one end of this line the display of the length of the line is no longer displayed on screen but remains at the center of the line. I use AutoCAD 2008.

I want a third line that uses the common x coordinate and a y coordinate that is the sum of the two coordinates.
If this is possible, can i define which mathematical function i use so that i can add/subtract or even use a formula to define?
Further Notes:
The example above is very simple. I have 2 complex curves that go into positive and negative values of y (speaking from a mathematical perspective). I need an easy way to intersect the complex curves at a specified interval and add them at each of those intervals.
For example i may a sine function going in between pi and -pi over a distance equal to 2. I then need to split the curves in intervals of 0.1 and add them together.
Is it possible to create a shape and then edit the coordinates of the shape's control points? When I currently click on a shape's control point, it doesn't offer any way to fine tune the location of that point by manually typing in the X, Y coordinate.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a pline in a dynamic block where the length is determined by two values I would input into properties or as attributes.
The first value 'A' will be a ground surface elevation
The second value 'B' will be a ground water elevation
I would like to the pline to have a length of A minus B.
I would then also like to have mtext (or any other method of display text) to display the values of A and B.
For example, if I have a ground surface of 102 and a ground water of 91, my line length will be 11, and I can display a label of '102' at the top of the line and '91' at the bottom of the line.
I've created dynamic blocks before, but none that have used an expression of two values or having to display inputted values. I'm not really sure where to start with this, or if it's even possible.
My model is ready for the rigging. But my model is a little heavy in poly-count. I can rig it now but at the time of animation i know it will be a problem while animating it. It will lag while moving its controls. I have seen people animating with low mesh and while rendering they use high mesh. Do, i have to create a low poly version of my model?. If yes, Then i have to paint weight twice. low poly one and the high poly one.
