AutoCad :: How To Cut And Paste A Viewport From One Sheet To Another
Aug 14, 2012
You know how when you cut and paste a viewport from one sheet to another and the viewport has to be turned ON by using Mview / ON - is there a way to set the default to always ON?
Is there a way to lock the layer setup in a viewport, so when i copy and paste it to another paper space tab in the same or different cad file, it keeps the same setup?? (layers frozen / thawed)?
I am using ACA 2012 and when I insert a view into a sheet, the text and dimensions in the view do not display. I have checked the view and the text and dimensions are on layers that should display in the sheet. The layers are on and thawed in the viewport on the sheet, but do not show up. I have turned on all layers and only the model (building information) shows, no text or dimensions.
Since I installed autocad architecture 2012 I have this problem. When I drag a view from the project navigator in a sheet I see the content and the option to set a scale. So far so good. When I click in the sheet to set the location the viewport goes empty. I can stretch the viewport to top left to get the drawing within range and then move it back to where I want to place the drawing.
I am trying to create two column sheets with a polygonal viewport, but it doesn't seem to work. The point is that I want to use the area above the stamp to be able to fit two columns on one sheet, but the last section in the second column ends up where my stamp is. Is this possible? Is there another way to solve this problem? I'm not to keen on moving the sections by hand, since they keep jumping back.. I'm using Civil 3D 2013.
Whenever I want to pan I get the 'hand'. I click and drag...no prob. However, I want to do a controled pan (to fix a moved elevation in a viewport on a sheet). I want to click a point, and then pan, say, 50' orthogonally. Is this possible?
I have a template for sheet creation with all layers on, thawed, etc. When I insert a view on a sheet, there are VP layers that are frozen.I do not want these settings.
Having a problem with Paste and Paste as Block in the right mouse click drop down window.
In the right Mouse click drop down window the Paste, Paste as Block and the Paste to Original Coordinates are grayed out.
The copy with Base Point works, as does the Ctrl+V and Ctrl+Shift+V and repeat Paste Block from the recent Input drop down selection. Why the paste commands are grayed out?
Problem: When I create a new viewport, another viewport's paperspace blanks out or disappears. When I copy a viewport over, the new VP doesn't show anything and you can't maximize/"enter" its paperspace; it's like a simple rectangle, but the properties box says it is indeed a viewport.
Ex. Viewport 1 shows the top view of an object, Viewport 2 shows the right side view... as soon as I add Viewport 3, the top view in VP 1 blacks out. I attempt to ReDraw, Regenerate, etc, but it doesn't re-appear. I've run Plot Preview to see if maybe it's just a fluke with the graphics card on my screen, but alas, even in plot preview the viewport is blanked out.
It almost seems like there is a limited number of viewports I can use.
Solution: Run the MaxActVP command and set the value to a number greater than the number of VPs you actually need. This particular file had that value set at 2; hence, why a new, third VP blanked out the first one.
I have a drawing with a viewport that fits to the page. And I created another smaller viewport over top that just shows the legend. Now when I try to double click inside the smaller viewport it always goes into the larger one. I have tried bringing the smaller one to the front but that didn't work. I know that I can clip the larger viewport around the smaller one or bring the legend right into paperspace or slid the smaller one off to the side work in it and slide it back. This is more out of curiosity of how to get into the smaller viewport.
I am wanting to insert a second viewport over an existing viewport and have the information in the existing viewport behind the second viewport and not seen. I want the second viewport boundary to be the "trimming" edge of the existing viewport. How do I do this?
I did a test drawing with 4 viewports in paperspace.I frozen a layer in each viewport (as a viewport override, not global), and wrote code to gather info on layer overrides in viewports. The function takes in a database, and is generally used on drawings only open in memory:
the odd thing is it never finds the frozen viewports on the first viewport. It catches the others fine.I cannot see anything odd either, the counts of viewports and layers are all correct, and the drawing has no problems. Is there something that must be done to initialize the mechanism that reads viewport overrides?
I have an older drawing with an outdated sheet format. I'm wanting to update to a new custom sheet format without having to redimension and recreate views. Is it possible to just update the sheet format?
A collegue asked me about this as he has been given a part to model and the details are for the flat sheet not the finished model. Is this possible in 'sheet metal'? I had a quick play but couldn't work it out. Im used to creating the finished part and 'un-folding' to get the flat pattern.Detail supplied below.
I have a dwg file with three sheets in, just default names, I can access sheets 2 and 3 but get the attached errors when trying to access sheet 1 form either sheet 2 or 3
This file was originally created in IV2009 I've had no problems then or with the various conversions of it.
It seems to be memory related so here's the sitrep as for memory 8GB DDR2 RAM, and Virtual Memory set at min of 8192MB and a Max of 16384MB, I did have it set a systems managed but that gave a warning of low virtual memory with almost every drawing file that I opened.
I am using AutoCAD 2013 and I working on a project of approxamitely 80 pages and I have a Sheet Set Manager set up.There are about 40 pages that have text saying Continuation on Sheet XX of YY. I managed to use a field for the total count (YY) however I need to link the XX to the another drawing. I have researched and failed miserably.
I'm trying to set up a title block template that will be used between several different sheet sets. I have entered the custom properties, then when I go to the title block and try to insert the fields with current sheet set custom the drop down box is empty and then when I try to type in the custom property name the link still does not function. Is there some trick that I'm missing, or is this function broken on AutoCad 2013?
I am using Inventor 2010 (I know this is my first problem, but you have to use what you're given!) and I need to use the sheet number in a calculation that will display the result in a text box. =((<SHEET NUMBER>-1)8)=1 displays a result of ((11-1)8)+1. I suspect that the sheet number is being brought in as text instead of a number. I tried adding atoi to the equation to convert the sheet number to an integer, but it did not work.Is there an alternate source for the sheet number that will return a number? Is my syntax wrong?
How people deal with multiple revisions of one sheet with sheet set manager, basically I want the cover sheet of drawings to have a list of drawings including the revision letter and revision date and on each individual sheet keep track of historical revisions
There is the current sheet revision and date fields.Does everyone usually just update these and manually keep track of historical revisions else where in there title block?
I'm fairly new to Autocad and getting used to using sheet set manager. What I'm experiencing is, when you insert a model view it brings in an xref of that model, but i'm then unsure how to add additional xref models into the same view.
For example I have a separate ground floor plan file and OS data file which I want to show in the one sheet view without nesting the OS data to the original ground floor file.
I have over a 100pg plan set and have changed page numbers and added more drawings and deleted a few. so now we have to go through the entire Table of Contents and drawings and renumber everything. Is there a way to link the fields in the Table of Contents with the page numbers on the drawings?
I was creating a new sheet set in the sheet set manager as I have created new drawings to be added to the old one. When I do this and browse to the directory of drawings, once I hit next it only wants to create a sheet with a few drawings in the directory. There are 22 drawings in the directory and is leaving out about 18 when it creates the sheet set.
I am trying to create a sheet set with sheet set properties for title blocks but every time I close sheet set manage I lose the properties I typed in .
