AutoCAD 2010 :: Tool Palettes - Moved From 2008 To 2012- Palette Can't Find Block
May 31, 2013 tool palettes from a directory called ACAD2008 to ACAD2012. Tool palettes can't find the associated blocks because the support path still points to the ACAD200 Directory.
Is there a way to "globally" change the associated path? There are too many blocks to think about changing each one manually.
AutoCad :: Setup In Dynamic Type Block That Would Allow To Select The Block
Jun 22, 2012I have a series of logos that we use. I would like to have them setup in a dynamic type block that would allow us to select the block and choose from a pull down that logo to use.
I have see it done before just don't know how to replicate it.
As you scrolled through the choices as each one was highlighted it would display that one on the screen.

I do get the object ID of the AcstStandard dictinary. So far so good, but then ???
Can't seem to find an object type to do the tr.GetObject(id, OpenMode.ForRead)
There's stuff for layouts etc... but not for standards.

Aug 13, 2012Is it possible, via whatever methods (lisp?) to be able to have a premade block with an attribute and insert it into a drawing then assign a value to it by selecting another existing block in the drawing and using one of its own attribute’s values?
For example, say I have a block representing a telephone and it had an attribute called "PhoneNo" and I inserted it into a drawing showing an office floor plan that had blocks in each office space that are telephone junction boxes with attributes "PhoneExtension". I would like to be able to autocomplete the entering of the “PhoneNo” data by selecting one of the telephone junction boxes in the drawing and using its attribute’s value.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Convert Block Back To Title Block Or Border
Feb 15, 2012We have a title block and border which is used in MS. If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected. We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing. ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks. We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.
The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again. Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Way To Have Block Within Block That Has Same Ability To Move Around
Aug 15, 2013I have a block (room info) that has five line os text with attributes that display grips which allow them to be moved in whatever drawing I put them in. Within that block there is a little polyline that is the square with a dash through it to represent sq. ft. that I made into a seperate block ( sq ft tick). The room info block part of it works great in all my drawings, but the darn sq ft tick block within the room info block won't budge! I have tried giving it a seperate insertion point and giving that block its own attribute, but no luck.
Is there any way to have a block within a block that has the same ability to move around as the other elements?

I managed to write the program to do this manually for a selected pline and block.

Apr 3, 2012I have several blocks spaced evenly apart and I need to copy and paste another block and insert it with the same spacing. I don't want to take the step to find out how far apart they are. I believe there's a way to use the insert command to figure out the distance the next block needs to be placed when I paste it.
I'm not sure if I'm describing it correctly or if I can paste the block using the insert command.

Jan 27, 2012How can I find a block with a specific name and get what the coordinates are? What we have is our Bill of Material is attributed blocks. I am attempting to change the first one. Well all of the lines that list the parts are seperate blocks with the same name. Now the Top Line of the Bill of Material is a different named block. If I can find the coordinates of this block I can then select the first line to do what I need to.

Oct 23, 2012I am trying to create a new linetype. It is a simple linetype, made up of a continuous chain of capsules that I've attached here. I understand that linetypes require shape files and line definition files. However, AutoCAD isn't even telling me how to create the shape file(s) I need to begin making the linetype.
The capsule is .12 units long at its widest, and will need to connect end-to-end.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Can't Find PGP File?
May 8, 2012So i turned off the "command line completion" settings. However, now I have to type in the full command in order to run it. I found that there should be an "acad.pgp" file somewhere in the support paths that will allow me to define command aliases. So i did a complete search of my C: drive for "*.pgp" and the search came up empty; I tried a few different ways and places (trying narrow it down) but couldn't find ANY of these files.
I have the student version of 2012. Does this have something to do with it? I wouldn't think it should because of what it says on the education site: "Important Note :The Autodesk Student Version software incorporates all the functionality of our professional licenses, but includes a print banner making the software inappropriate for professional, commercial, or for-profit purposes."

Sep 25, 2012when i add a custom template file location under options>files>template settings>drawing template file location>default template file name for QNEW i i get the error message c:program filesautodeskautocad mechanical 2012acadmamg3dim.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs. if i remove my custom template file location and leave it blank, i get no error. its the same thing for the drawing template file location, if i change the default file location to another path, i get a different dll error message when launching cad.

Jun 18, 2012I am receiving this error whether I am attempting to view a drawing file via the network, via a lotus notes database, or loaded locally.:
"Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exist"
The Autodesk product I am using is Autodesk 2012 LT (trial)
The operating system is Widows 7 (64 bit)

I have administrative rights to the profile in question and I have also attempted to use a separate profile but received the same results. All attempts to manually set the file association have liekwise failed. the program will initialize, but the error message returns with no ability to veiw the drawing file(s).
I have also removed/uninstalled all of the above mentioned programs via Autodesk instructions/procedures for proper removal of folders/subfolders/registry entries (HKey local machine and current user) as well as stoping any autodesk program running in task manager.
My next step is to re-image the machine to make the file association stick to an autocad program.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Viewport Changing Shadeplot Type
Jun 15, 2011We've recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2012, having previously used 2008. All our drawings are therefore in 2007 drawing format (not sure this is relevant!). When I open a drawing, and send a plot, I noticed that the linetypes in my plot were strange - hidden lines plot as solid, lines thicker than other lines, etc. I've discovered (from another forum) that the shadeplot type in my viewports has changed to "legacy hidden" instead of "as displayed". When I open the same drawing in AutoCAD 2008, the shadeplot is correctly set to "as displayed". Is there something I'm missing that is causing my viewports to change to "legacy hidden" plot style?
as I'm currently having to (remember to) change the viewport shade plot to "as displayed", or I'm wasting a lot of plotter paper!

May 11, 2012 My question is, if there any tool /command, utility in autocad to select all objects of one type at one time : for example all text objects or all dimention objects if these objects on different layers and have different properties. in my work I have to insert many blocks(not annotative) or parts of drawings which were created by other people and have different from mine settings and properties of text and dimention objects. the insertions add so many layers and objects that I spend lots of time to correct them and to figure it out.
is there any way( command, utility) to select and manage all of these objects at one time?
P.S.i think it is very unconvenient that the plain autocad does not have dimentions and text as families or some sort of groups that s easy to manage.

Mar 4, 2012(Again) Switching the “data type” of the cell,I’m not sure why the AutoCAD doesn't allow changing the “data type” of the cell in the table for already existing data. For example, in the attached table, I wanted to switch the “data type” from “decimal number” to “percentages”, but sounds that the AutoCAD doesn’t allow this function.
In the Excel, for example, we can switch the “data type” easily by selecting the target cells and choosing the format we need! Quite simple, in the AutoCAD, it seems that it needs some work around!
