AutoCad :: Visibility Parameters Containing Attributes Within Dynamic Blocks

Aug 22, 2007

Is it possible for a dynamic block to have one attribute which is set to different visibility parameters; eg. i have a block made for a Setting Out Point. I wish to have 4 different locations that the user can place the attribute after insertion of the block ie top, bottom, left, right, of the SOP.

AutoCad :: Dynamic Blocks With Visibility Parameters

Nov 12, 2008

Creating a dynamic block that contained more than one visibility parameter. I have tried and it wouldn't let me do more than one. I was thinking of using multiple visibility to work through some text or attribute option all contained in one block instead of having 5 seperate blocks. Wanted to combine all 5 into one, just cannot get the multiple visibility to work.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Multiple Visibility Parameters

Apr 2, 2007

I have created a block with 3 different elements (A B C). This 3 elements are totally independents and they can be visible or invisible. Whit only one visibility parameters, there are 7 different visibility states:

xxC, xBx, xBC, Axx, AxC, ABx, ABC

If there are 4 or more elements there are too much possibilities.

I've tried to create 3 visibility parameters, but it's not possible.

¿How can i create independent visibility states for each different object in a block?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Attributes Not Working In Visibility States

Oct 28, 2013

I'm new to dynamic blocks.  In my first attempt to create a simple dynamic block with various visibility states in which each would have it's own attribute, the only attribute that works is the attribute in the first visibility state listed.  I have read all the postings I could find here in the group on this subject and have made the following changes suggested here to the block:

1. All attributes have distinct tags and prompts. (I even erased all the originial attributes and created new with original tags.)

2. All attributes are locked in position.

3. I REGEN after selecting a different visibility state.

None of these changes has had any effect.  Still, then only attribute that opens an attribute edit dialogue box is the "W" attribute in the first visibility state listed.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Parameters With Stretch Action On Objects Which Are Shared In Visibility States

Oct 18, 2011

I have a block which I want 2 visibility states.  VS1 and VS2 share some objects and not others.  I have a linear parameter in each which I want to do a stretch action on.  The stretch action in each visibility state acts upon entities both shared and unshared between VS1 and VS2.  This doesn't seem to work..

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Annotative Parameters Inside Dynamic Blocks

May 5, 2010

I've made annotative blocks and I've made dynamic blocks... My intent is to integrate both but I can't find a way to move dynamic block parameters separately at different annotative scales.

In other words, if I insert an annotative dimension and add multiple scales I can move the dimension grips independently at each scale. If I insert a dynamic block I want to be able to use the dynamic block's action "grips" to do the same. However, with a dynamic block, if I move a stretch action at one annotation scale it moves the action at all annotation scales.

The attached file shows a simple example.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Printing Dynamic Titleblocks With Visibility States

Feb 15, 2012

usage of dynamic title blocks with visiblity states and defining page setup override templates which use same for quick plotting using sheet sets.

I have attached a simple dynamic block that I built which is the outter frame of our company title block, it is designed to allow users to quickly switch between Landscape and Portrait orientations.

The problem I am having is when I go to define page setups for my Sheet Set Page Setup Override Template I am unable to use the "Extents" option with auto-center because the "Extents", as defined by the page setup, includes ALL objects in the paper space regardless of visibility, so my title block ends up being centered in a stupid way if that printing configuration is used.

The only solution I have found is to use the "Layout" option when defining page setups, but this option produces other issues in other ways when printing.  I don't want to use the "Window" option either for the potential for users to be using the page setup overrides to print drawings using different paper sizes or drawings that were not originally created using the current template the override is designed to accomodate.

Is there perhaps a system variable that defines whether invisible objects are included in the "Extents" setting in the page setup?  I'm sure you'll all agree that Extents is the way to go in this situation, but it is not performing exactly as required.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Pass Attribute Values To Dynamic Block Parameters?

Dec 4, 2013

I am looking for a way to use the ATTIN/ATTOUT workflow to bring in data from an excel spreadsheet to drive the size of each of my block's instances. The block will be simple, a rectangle, with width and length parameters. For each entity in my excel/csv file these parameter values are spelled out. I know how to display these parameters in my attributes, but I don't know how, if I were to feed in these values, to drive the geometry. If there's a better way to take a list of width and length values to generate a series of blocks each with a rectangle containing its respective size.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Add Exact Same Objects And Visibility State To Blocks

Jan 7, 2014

I have over 100 blocks that I need to add the exact same objects and visibility state to.  Is there a way to globally make this change, or even to copy the visibility states from one block to the next without having to recreate the states in each block?  I thought I had previously run across a routine on here that would make changes to multiple blocks at once, but I can't seem to find it now.

AutoCad 2D :: Replace Dynamic Blocks With Normal Blocks Based On Parameters

Aug 2, 2012

We used a bespoke program to convert our drawings to Java applets for web usage. This does not cope with dynamic blocks at present and we have started to receive drawings from our clients using them.

I need to replace this with standard static blocks based on one of two criteria. Either:

1) Replace based on visibility state (have generic chair block with multiple different chair types set by visibility type, need to replace depending on which type it is set as)

2) Replace based on parameter (have table with size set by dimensions, need to replace with static block for each dimension)

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Moving Dynamic Block With Attributes

Dec 19, 2011

I made a dynamic block with attributes. The block was to be moved using Linear parameter + move action, and then a lookup parameter and action.

The block moves as it is suppose to but the attributes are left behind. How can I get the attributes to move with the dynamic block?

The attribute properties are:

Verify = Yes.

Lock position: Yes or No don't seem to make a difference.

Is this a bug in AutoCAD or is there a solution to this?

AutoCad :: Attributes And Visibility States In Dynamic Block?

Dec 6, 2013

In the past I have not managed to get attributes to constantly behave themselves if I applied a visibility state to them. Following posts by steven-g where he has a method to get them working together I thought I would give it another try. His method was used to link the attributes to a further reference attribute to reveal a field but mine is far simpler, just requiring one of two numbers to appear depending on the project state.

I had two attributes which toggled their visibility but only the primary attribute would display UNTIL AFTER I locked and prest the attributes, wherein it all looks to be working as wanted.

So my question is, why does it now work (and will it continue to do so)?

I don't know if I could get away with only one of those actions but since I had something working I didn't want to break it. I will test it once these drawings have cleared my desk.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Sharing Parameters Between Blocks

Nov 20, 2013

I wish to have a single dimension alter the dimensions in a set of nested blocks, similar to shared parameters in Revit. For example, I have a circle that has a fixed diameter that I wish to control in all blocks.  I have set the diameter to barDia so now I wish to manipulate the dimension from outside the block.

Am I able to share the parameter across all the blocks?

AutoCad :: Dynamic Blocks - Action Bar Visibility

Jul 10, 2012

I have a rather unusual problem. I'm using AutoCADLT2013. I have a dynamic block, with chained parameters. The block works perfectly, however, I'm expanding the contents, and trying to add more polylines to existing actions.

I have the following Actions showing: Stretch, Lookup, and Visibility. All of these actions are on unchained Parameters. The 2 Actions I'm missing are Arrays, both on chained Parameters with no Grips.

I've used ACTIONBAR on both Parameters (Show, then Hide, then Show again, I don't want to use Reset!), yet the Action Bars still won't show!

I've been messing for nigh on 2 hours and I can't figure it out. To make things worse, I can't use the Parameter Manager, due to it disappearing when in Block Editor.

I really don't want to have to start again, as it was a right pain in the rectum to get to work right.

However, I want to add a "custom" vis state where, once they select this option, the attributed definition box will pop up and give them the option to input whatever scale they are using.Check out the attached .dwg to see what I've done so far (I just have the attributes on the "custom" vis state).

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Parameters Moving On Insert

Sep 1, 2011

I have a block containing a visibility parameter but the problem is when it is inserted, that visibility parameter is in a different place to where I put it in the block editor.

My geometry is around the 0,0 origin (which is also the base) and the visibility parameter was placed at 0,-25 in the block editor however once it is inserted in a drawing it shows up at 270,130.

No matter where I move it back to, it always reverts back to another position.  Every time I try to change and reinsert, I purge the drawing so I know it is not picking up on something else.

I'd like to modify a dynamic door block I've created so that I can stretch by door leaf size OR structural opening size, but I'm not sure how to do this.

Incidentally, I think the block has some flaws:

- I think the 'center/flip point' is not exactly in the center!
- The frame size should be 40mm, not 32mm
- The packing zone should be 30mm, not 6.38mm!

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Lookups And Attributes

Mar 22, 2012

I'm trying to set up a dynamic block with an attribute/field within it that the user(s) edit using a lookup table.

I understand basically that a field must be created as the attribute that then references a lookup table with the inputs listed. However, I really do not know how to create a lookup that has custom information such as below:

Site:        Unit Code
Site X           100
Site Y            200
Site Z            300

All I have seen explains how to create a lookup from an existing parameter (liner etc) and I don't seem able to create something specific to my requirements. I forgot add that I want the user to see "Site X", "Site Y" etc in the dropdown - but the attribute to reflect only the Unit Code.
