AutoCAD Inventor :: Mold Design - Gate Placement And Shape

Dec 20, 2013

my problem is that when I go to put in a gate (in this case a fan gate) of the type and shape shown below, I can't do it.  It seems like gates have to only be above or below the parting line, rather than right on (and symmetrical about) it, and a fan gate (apparently) must always have a flat bottom.

(This is a snip of the drawing for the actual tool.  I have to run some mold flow analysis on it before we authorize cutting steel.  I could just model the whole 2-cavity assembly with gates and runners, and then lie to Inventor and tell it that the part actually has a sprue gate ... but I'd prefer to do it the right way.)

AutoCad 3D :: Creating Dynamic 3D Blocks

Apr 5, 2011

I work in logistics, and we use a lot of heavy racking. The problem is, we could be using 50 different footprints for each facility. I am the only person in my group who has any legitimate autoCAD experience. I am trying to figure out a way to make a block that any user could bring into the drawing, and key in dimensions to make a 3D rack. Like... a dialogue box that says "What is the leg height?" "What is the length of the horizontal supports?" "What is the depth of the rack?"

Revit :: Ball Valve - Pipe Accessory Detail Component Not Showing

Feb 22, 2014

I am trying to create a ball valve that looks like the following:

To get the filled in portion, I created a detail family with a fill.  All appears to be well, until I load the family into a project.  Then the detail dissappears.  The lines remain, but the filled ball is gone.  This happens when I am looking from the floor plan view.

If I look at the valve from an elevation, rotating it to see it properly, the filled ball is back.

If I change the family type from Pipe Accessoies to something else, for example, Duct Accessories, the filled ball appears as it should.

Is there a reason that Pipe Fittings and Pipe Accessories do not show detail components in plan views?

I'm using Revit 2014 and I've attached my valve family.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Creating Dynamic Blocks?

Aug 2, 2012

I am using Autocad 2011 and created a dynamic block which turned out fine.

After making a copy of this dynamic block and doing some additions to this new block (added several flip parameters), I found that when I run my mouse over this new block it lags. I have attached the drawing which contains both the blocks. The one on top is the problematic block whereas the bottom one is the one I created first and made a copy of.

I have been creating dynamic blocks within a drawing by:
-creating wblock
-inserting wblock into drawing
-editing block to add dynamic properties

I have noticed that this is only keeping the dynamic properties for this one drawing! when i try inserting the block into a new drawing it's only a standard block.

How do i edit these so that they are insertable to any drawing?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Blocks From Cogo Points?

Feb 11, 2013

We are in the middle of upgrading from LDD2008 to Civil3D2013. This is a 2 part question. Since there are NO point labels similar to Poiint labels in LDD2008. It is making cleaning the elevations up very teadious. With point labels that are just Mtext. I would rotate 1 label and then match properties to rotate the rest and then jiust more the elevations to make them readable.

How do you all deal with cleaning up the elevations?  Is there a way to match proprties as far as the rotatiion of the points? or do you Create blocks from Cogo points?

So, I starting playing with the Creating Blocks from Cogo Points. This creates a block with attributes similar to the way Softdesk treated points back in the day. I ran into a couple of issues. 1 being, it rounds the elevation to 3 decimals places.

When it creates blocks from the Cogo Points some of the blocks are giving me 0.000 elevations for points that had actual elevations.

AutoCAD .NET :: Creating Block And Insert Into List Of Blocks

Apr 26, 2013

I'm new to .net for autocad, but very familiar with c#. I studied some samples about creating a block from c#. I have a form for some basic input. When the user presses OK the code checks if the blockname is already in use. When no it creates the block using following

private void make_block() { double nextpoint = 0.0; double linedis = 7.3634; Document doc = Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument; Database db = doc.Database; Editor ed = doc.Editor; using (Transaction tr = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) {
[code]......

The code runs successfully (meaning i don't get any errors), but when I want to insert the block it isn't in the list of blocks.

AutoCad :: Tool Palettes And Creating Blocks - Source Files

Apr 30, 2012

I am currently creating templates for my drawings in order to standardise their use which includes the creation of templates, multileader styles, text styles etc... and placing them in custom tool palettes. I am also looking to add standard blocks such as fasteners and steel sections to my tool palettes however this has thrown a bit of a curveball. Basically I want all the blocks that I place in the tool palettes to move with the .dwt file I have created. At the moment it would appear that the source of the block is within the filing structure of the computer as apposed to just the template file it is placed in. Is there anyway to resolve this, or have the blocks so that they are stored within the template so that if the template is moved onto say a stand alone laptop elsewhere the blocks that appear in the tool palettes would go with the dwt file?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Editing Fields / Creating New Field Categories

May 2, 2013

I'm working in AutoCAD 2010 and I would like to make the process of creating 2D documentation easier and faster for myself and my collegues, but during the process I've hit a dead end.

I would like to use fiedds (or something simillar) to partly automate the creation of 2D documentation. We have sheets organized in a specific way and I would like to create a custom field for each of the categories (eg. drawing number, number of parts, designer...) that could be edited easily like the parameters or object properties can. Basically what I would like to do is create custom fields or some other object that can be edited from a list in AutoCAD and then automatically refreshed in text boxes. Is there a possibility to do something like that using fields or perhaps a different solution?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Creating Array Within Block That Is Setup With Constraint Parameters

W=Width

GW=Glass width

How do I set up an array with this formula?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: When Creating DBlock - What Does Angle Represent In Rotation Parameter

I've tried a bunch of diff angles and haven't noticed a difference.  I'm trying to figure out just what effect diff values would have.  I thought that maybe when rotating the block instance, I'd only be able rotate it "so far" (270 degrees in the example I've shown).  But it still went well beyond that.

I also want to control the font height by the scale of the drawing. my question is I if its possible and how? I've attached what I have thus far. The attribute is in teh top right corner and is justified as top right. The only way I can get this to work is if I manually adjust the font after its inserted into the drawing.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Creating A Riser From Blocks Inserted On Floor Plan

Apr 25, 2013

I'm looking for an easy way to generate a on-line riser diagram of blocks that have been inserted on a floor plan.Here's what I was thinking.

For every instance where the block  SLC_DEVICE IS insert on the drawing, the routine would insert the block listed in the "TYPE" and place text equal to what is listed in the "ADDRESS".  The TYPE is the actual block name.

Each one of these blocks have a tag of TYPE and ADDRESS.  What is in the TYPE tag is the block name of what should be inserted and what is in the ADDRESS tag is the text that should be inserted under the block.

So for example; the routine would find the first instance and the tag TYPE which is "Smoke_Detector" and the tag ADDRESS which is 01:03:001.  The routine would insert the block "Smoke_Detector" with the text "01:03:001" directly under it.  It would insert the next instance the same way a specified distance from the last; so on so on so on until all instances of the BLOCK (SLC_DEVICE ) have been inserted.

The other part of this would be the Block "NAC&SPK_Circuit" but you would use the Tags "Type", "Candela" AND "NacCkt" to generate the one liner.

AutoCad :: Creating Series Of Dynamic Blocks In Order To Create Tabletop Conveyors For Plat Layout

Jul 21, 2010

I am currently creating a series of dynamic blocks in order to create tabletop conveyors fro plat layout. I am using AutoCAD 2009 and am currently having issues making the turning sections. I know this is very simple using AutoCAD 2010 as there are geometric constrains available.

The curved sections must be able to have the inside thickness adaptable, the wall thickness must remain 1/2" thick, and the corner sections must have a 30, 45, 60 and 90 degree radii on them (although allowing any angle would be ideal). I was going to use visibility states to achieve the different angles as this seemed the easiest way to do this.

Attached is the basic 90 degree corner with an inside width of 4.5" with leaders labeling the areas that must be adaptive.
