I have a problem with a laggy autocad file that has been created from revit. Basically, what I have done is exported the revit title block to autocad so I can use it in dwg’s, hence keeping all of our drawings looking the same across the project. A little further down the line I have noticed a few anomalies when working on this revit-born dwg…
Firstly, the smallest (but most annoying!) thing is that when working on the drawing, selecting and deselecting ANYTHING will result in a half second lag. The program simply freezes for half a second.
Secondly, I notice that snaps are hindered, cad not recognising intersections and endpoints etc showing that ‘fragmented’ looking icon you see when snapping at a funny angle in 3D. Flattening does not vet this problem either. I picked up a lisp some time ago that takes a more forceful approach to flattening, which worked at first but then two days later the problem recurred, obviously where I had added to the drawing.
Thirdly, I duplicated this cad file and worked on them both for a period of time, then tried copying & pasting at 0,0 world coordinates from one drg to another only to find the copied items disappear! Deleted absolutely everything in one of the files, re-pasted and zoomed all in a bid to find the lines but still nothing until I use qselect to indirectly select them.
I find the visibility parameter a very useful option when building families. Unfortunately it doesn't work when exporting IFC. The elements set to not visible are visible in the IFC exports.
I also experienced IFC export issues with the use of phases. An element created at phase 1 and set to demolished at phase 2, will not be visible in the IFC export of phase 1.
The IFC Exporter for Revit 2012 v1.0.4.msi was used when running into these issues. How to be able to have correct IFC exports using the visibility parameter ?
I'm trying to export all my layouts in a drawings to PDF. I'm using EXPORTPDF from the Output tab.
If I'm exporting the current layout, or if I'm creating a multi-sheet PDF, the plot stamp shows up. I get the 'Save as PDF' dialog box where I can tick "Include plot stamp".
However, if I export all layouts as single-sheet, this dialog doesn't appear and the plot stamp is not on the PDF produced.
So I've drawn a 3d model in Autocad 2011 and when I come to print it in either layout or model view I get lines that appear. These lines do not show up in the print preview no do they look like they relate to the model itself, so I can't understand where they are coming from. I have the grid lines turned off and have exhausted everything else I can think of.
I know through the block command you can write out a selection of entities to a single drawing. But what I am wondering is if it is possible to have two drawings open, and transfer data quickly between the two?
As an example as we are detailing an assembly we create a title block around a detail, put dimensions and notes on as needed and would then like that to be transfered into another drawing next to the previously transfered detail drawing.
Is there a known issue with inventor 2014 and STP file exports loosing their colour settings?
We export PCB's and assemblies to Altium PCB CAD tools as step files and have just noticed that the colours don't travel well at the moment! The assemblies just end up light grey/white. I tried an earlier stp export dated 2011 and that opened fine in Altium but not any 2014 exports.
Everytime I want to export pictures it exports every second picture as 0kb.
I've tried to export 100 picture at a time, the same problem occurrs. I've tried only exporting 3 pictures nad most likely atleast 2 of them are 0kb. I've tried all different settings to export the picture. Nothing out of the normal. URL....
The only work around I've found is that I open the image with Edit > In photoshop and then resize and save the image from Photoshop. But that's not the optimal workflow when you have more than 3 pictures. Would be nice to know why this problem comes up and how to fix it. This is really taking me back with publishing my work.
I found several posts about the same issue, but they were all talking about Dropbox being the problem. Well, I'm not exporting my pictures to Dropbox. A normal folder on my SSD HDD.
The album suppliers that I use all require book pages to be uploaded as JPGs. Lightroom 4 only lets me use Blurb (which I don't want to use), or export to PDF.
I realize that I can import the PDF into Photoshop and save them as JPGs, but when I do so, it saves the left side of the page spread as a file and the right side as a file. Most ROES programs from album suppliers require that pagespread be uploaded as one image that encompasses both the left and right side of the page spread.
I realize that I can go through and merge two JPGs together to create a pagespread, but doing so is time consuiming and requires that I resave each JPG an extra time, thereby losing quality. good way to get pagespread JPGs out of the lightroom book module? how to get pagespreads out of a PDF that looks at each side of the pagespread as a separate image?
It appears as if every DXF or DWG file stored on our server is corrupted. Everything was fine until my boss tried to open a DXF file earlier today and got this message:
"new.dxf is not valid DXF file
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded."
His PC has been sending out distress signals and is due for replacement so I didn't think this was that unusual. However, I tried to open the same file on another machine and got the same message. I got the same message attempting to open on my PC using TrueView 2010. I then checked other DXFs and got the same problem. DWGs just say "drawing File is not valid".
The only glimmer of hope I have is that I did have a few files saved to my desktop, rather than the server, and they open just fine. My instinct is that my boss has been 'button bashing' (he has previous) but obviously won't admit to anything. What other causes are possible? Virus?
Our machines are running AutoCAD 2010 and I've attached a 'corrupted' file.
Out of the blue a LISP routine is not loading correctly. I get an error message (before I re-load file) that there is a problem with ACAD.dce file. When I re-load the routine it gives me a message that there is a problem with the dialog file (redefining object) Now, I did recently refine my search paths. All other routines seem to load fine and are without problems.
so I have a PSD with layers. I run an export script to export all layers as PNG8 because I want to preserve transparency. The file size with PNG24 however is far too big for the web although supporting alpha transparency. Upon export, I get an ugly white line stroked around every image.
In my export script, I don't have the option to fix the matte colour of the export image to the BG colour of the webpage so I'm wondering if there's any way to automatically or manually remove this transparency area which renders fine under PNG24 but poorly under PNG8 and GIF formats? Anyone have any experience with dealing with this problem?
It should have "sRGB" on this line but is now blank - indicating that the embedding to the file did not occur in the Export from Gimp.
This must be simple to correct - it was previously working without my knowledge.
Update - Since posting I've experimented with different files and it seems that if sRGB is embedded by the manufaturer's software - in my case I shoot RAW files and open in Canon's DPP to view and convert to .tif to edit in Gimp - it will be retained by Gimp all through its Import and Export processes.
But ... for whatever mysterious reasons this normality has been interrupted earlier and I need to go back to some Gimp files and re-Export with sRGB now embedded.
I've got a million years experience with PS, PSP, various CAD programs. This is actually more of a drafting project but that shouldn't matter. I've got separate layers for certain guides and lines and text and that's about it. So I need to send something out for review.
Export or Save As as [ANYTHING], pdf, png, jpg, 'web,' even tried swf, creates a correct -size- image, but the only -content- is the one -last- -layer- that I created which happened to be text.
So just for fun I deleted that last layer and now it exports a blank image of the correct size.
I tried specifically Selecing the items I want exported, result = same blank image.
I don't see any 'flatten' type function as in PS that might crunch everything down to one layer.
I've aparently got something either enabled or disabled that tells it to 'draw nothing.'
I don't see any facility here to include an ai file with this Q. I could put it up somewhere else but I rather doubt they'll allow a '*.ai' so would have to go through the renaming stuff both upload and download. And if they have an 'file inspector' of any kind it'll be disallowed anyway.
Illustrator CS6 exports to PNG with unwanted transparencies. I've done everything I can think of but some of the shapes in my Ai file with 100% opacity are still showing the layer under them in the PNG export file.
I just received a Asus laptop with Windows 8 for Christmas. I fixed the flickering in CS6 by changing the Preferences and upgraded to Lightroom 4 as was reccomended for Windows 8 to work out the kinks, but I am still having a huge issue with my colors being understaurated. I've tried exporting as sRGB, AdobeRGB, and ProPhoto. The red tones seem to be effected the most. Increasing the saturation and exporting again does not solve my problem.I don't think it's a monitor problem because it looks great in program. Uploading the pictures online do not change the color, so it's not the program Windows uses to open
I'm new to the photography world and having a bit of trouble when using Lightroom.I have a new Olympus PEN EPL-5 and Lightroom 4.3 running on Windows7.
When I import RAW (.ORF) files they are dark in general, but when export them as JPG they are brighter, similar to what native JPG from the camera looks like. Then if I "correct" the ORF file in Quick Develop or Develop it becomes too light/bright/over-exposed.
Here on the left is the RAW file import with Develop Settings = "none" and to the right is an export to JPG color space "sRGB".Now if I adjust the RAW (.ORF) file in LR I can get it close to the JPG on the right above, but then when I export it, it becomes way too bright
why the RAW Library image is so far off from the exported JPG image?Obviously this "issue" makes using Lightroom very difficult as I can't tell how changes in LR will really turn out once exported.
After many years of exporting jpegs at 300 ppi my Lightroom suddenly only exports at 72 ppi even though the image resolution is still set to 300 ppi. What could be the problem?
I can't reproduce this consistently; but I've had this happen many times now.
Product - Lightroom 5 on OS/X 10.8.4.
I select two images in the develop module filmstrip to pick the best one for export, the images are usually stacked in the Library.I use the side by side compare tool (C) to compare the images.I may go back to the develop module to adjust setting on one or both images.
At some point I will unselect the image I don't want to export in the filmstrip, then press Command + Shift + E to export.
LR will sometimes export both images even though only one is selected in the filmstrip.
If I go back to the Library before exporting then LR will only export the selected image.
i have created a block or several and made them annotative and I have worked with them, and the drawing for some time now without any issues. However, randomly during work, I suddenly noticed that all annotative blocks are displaying every scale associated to them all at once.
Upon closer inspection it turned out that different instances of a block with different values of attributes have been inserted as separate blocks with randomly generated names *U808, *889 etc. Each one of these generated blocks has in itself lines and text values, but duplicated or triplicated, in different sizes matching what have once been scales.
I cannot edit these generated blocks, they are not listed when I go to BEDIT.
Even blocks that didn't have any attributes, a block that is only a single circle, has been corrupted in this way.
I am an interior design student and my floor plan saved to USB seems to be corrupted now. It keeps saying File is not Valid. I was working on it last night and saved it like normal and today it won't open. This is my only copy of the file and I don't want to start over. How to recover at least part of it? It's on there somehow. It's showing that the file contains 1,024 KB.
I'm having an interesting problem where Windows doesn't recognize GIMP's jpeg exports. This could be due to the fact that I stitched together a composite photo in Windows Photo Gallery (Hugin wasn't working right), and Windows didn't recognize the output, even though GIMP did. So I imported into GIMP, did my usual editing, and re-exported it.
Unfortunately, Windows still doesn't recognize the file as valid (ex. won't open in Paint), and I can't figure out why. I'd attached said file, but it's too large...
Mostly, I am trying to figure out if this is a GIMP issue (unlikely, since other, specifically non-composite, exports still work) or how to resolve the issue, especially given that Windows Photo Gallery might be causing the issue.
We use adobe indesign server 8.0 to process indesgin documents and to automatically generate documents like jpg, xml etc. We make a call to the indesign server from adobe CQ workflow. Now the question is, do we have a something similar to process adobe illustrator documents. Our use case is to open Ai files and generate SVG and thumb. We use the indesign server to generate thumbs by dropping the AI file into the indesign document but that doesnt work while generating a SVG because we loose lot of layers by dropping the AI into indesign.
We have a script that opens the file in AI and exports it to SVG but We have to process hundreds of file so it is very time consuming.
With every version of Lightroom including LR5.3, I've continually had a problem with keywords moving out of order in my keyword hierarchy every time I export images to another PC for example or another folder on the same PC. It makes a mess of my keyword list as well as creates more work putting them all back in place.
My Lightroom 4.3 has, in the last few days, started to automatically export files into my Elements 10 Catalogue. When it does it places them in the wrong folder (the same folder every time) and it does so before I have finished processing in LR. When I delete or move the files in Elements10 the photos in LR show the "missing photo" flag.
