I have a set of dimensions in meters and I am trying to automatically convert to feet. So I am going to the Dimension Style that rules the numbers that I want to convert and after clicking in Modify button>Primary Units I go to Linear dimensions group and change the Unit format from decimal to Architectural and 100 m turns to 8' - 4" not to 328.08'.
I have been sent a DWG floor plan from a firm in South America. The existing file is Type: Decimal and Units to scale: Meters. We need to convert the file to a useable architectural and feet set up. I know that I will need to scale the existing dwg however I am not sure what the exact steps are or what I should scale it by. Should I change the drawing units first and then scale? Or the other way around? Biggest thing I need is the scale factor.
I'm a GIS analyst trying to learn Cad. I'd like to place a single point in autocad model space at a specific Northing/Easting position. After reading several forum threads I don't think CAD allows me to change the coordinate system of model space from map coords to northing easting coords, as we can in GIS.
I have a company logo that is a jpeg, I can insert it in a title block but when i print the drawing in black and white it is a blur due to the dark colors in the logo. Is there a way to convert it to a drawing so I can adjust colors/size to plot properly?
I have a autocad drawing that was clearly made from a 3D model. I cannot get the 3D file sent me. I was wonder how can I convert this drawing to a 3D file. Is anyway I can take the isometric view in the corner of the autocad drawing that i currently have and convert it to a 3D model.
I am having an issue with a 3D drawing (xref) with size very large and crashing due to lack of memory. I want to compress it into a 2D layout. How do I compress a 3D drawing into a 2D drawing or something much smaller than the 47 MB it is now?
I created a drawing for a label in AutoCAD. The labels are made on an etching machine that we have and apparently the machine only accepts files in the BMP format. When I convert my drawing to a bitmap (export command), the images that I have in the label drawing (logos etc..) show up in the bitmap with borders around the images. I had set "imageframe" to 1 so I could select them when exporting the drawing. Another on of the images only has the border come in but nothing inside of the border?
If I use the CAD 'Plot Stamp' while converting a drawing to a PDF file (DWG to PDF), everything works as it should.
If I try to print it out on paper, it doesn’t work at all, even though it looks ok in the preview (however, if while in the preview, I try to zoom in on the Plot Stamp to see what's actually written, it disappears). Instead of being 'BR vertical' it's 'BR horizontal', It prints mostly out of the printable area and the text is a smaller size than specified.
What's the best way to get a high quality PDF from a DWG?We find the quality from the 'DWG to PDF' printer to be a bit disappointing. If we 'Publish to PDF' from a 'Sheet Set', it's a bit better...
After converting all my mtext in a drawing to Arial it has dramatically slowed down the drawing text dynamics, if i move any text on the drawing the lag is unreal, if i copy any text it takes 10 seconds to appear
is there a simple way of converting a drawing from a complex draiwng including blocks/dynamic blocks so that it becomes effectively a dumb drawing of lines arcs and text.
the only solution i have is to convert the drawing to a pdf then convert it back to a dwg using a pdf to dwg converter.
the reason being i dont want my client to work out how i construct my drawings.
I am trying to convert my AutoCAD inventor 2013 file to a standard 2007 file by going "Save As" "Save Copy As" and then "Autocad DWG File" but i keep getting up a message "problems encountered while saving the document" How do i repair this?
i have a drawing from a client that is in metric and i need to print the drawings in inches in 1:1 for my boss. i should know this but it seems to be a bigger problem than i thought.
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 will crash when we try open a 3D model (Inventor Component) as a Baseline View for a new "Drawing" file.
To replicate the error, we draw a simple Circle and extrude it so it is then a 3D Model. We then create a new "Drawing" file, click the Baseline View button at the top left, and then select the 3D Model Inventor file (the extruded circle). The program crashes and we get the following error from Autodesk Software, NOT Windows.
This is for our college... students need to perform this action for their exam. We have had success using the same software and OS configuration, along with the same steps listed above, on different machines on campus. Not sure what is causing the error on these machines.
Since I'm so darn clever I decided I could "save as" a 2009C3d-32bit drawing to 2011C3D-64bit. This drawing was working just peachy for a while. There are no data links. The drawing contained 2009 surface and point groups. I imported some Pipe styles created in 2011. Created 800' of profile, and my pipe network. When I was closing the drawing I got a lot of errors wanting to know if I wanted to save changes to VBA-pipes. Seemed like a good idea at the time so I said Yes. This morning I opened the drawing and it's there but the surface from 2009 no longer has it's Definition data. The point group is gone, breaklines are gone. I needed to remove one lousy bad point out of my surface. The points in the drawing now have three copies and one has the elevation in the point description and you can't fix it. The 3 labels are all tied together and if you erase one they all disappear. I am going to wing it from here and get this puppy out of the office with a little old fashioned autocad. This is my question. Should I have just started a new drawing in 2011, clipped all my old line work and text from the 2009, imported the points and rebuilt my surface? Did I do something wrong and there was some way I should have been able to make this work? I was running 2009 and 2011 on my computer but had to remove 2009 last week. It no longer like livng with his better looking brother "2011" and I had to put him out. I have numerous small projects created in 2009 so this will happen again.
I don't know what to do with my drawing Units and Scale.
I want to draw in Meters! But when i make a rectangle 30x15m it looks so small that i can't see it in my draw. Using my scale is 1:1 and Units Meters.
I tried changing my scale and my units and the rectangle still looks the same way it was. If i want something to look big, i have to draw in mm, for example, 30000x15000mm rectangle.
But, when i do that, everything go wrong...For example, when i draw a rectangle in mm (30000x15000) and i change the line style in layer command or when i try to hatch/linear dimension and etc all looks very small or very big.
I still cant understand about the units. I open acad iso template to work in mm and the insertion scale is also showing in mm.what if i want to draw in meters or cm.
I recieved a drawing in which the coordinate values are a thousand times too high; they are in millimeters and I need them in meters. I checked the settings of the drawing, and it clearly says that it´s in millimeters, but it doesn't change the setting or to copy the whole drawing into a new file with meter settings.
The company I am working for want me to send my scanned black and white pages in bitmap mode instead of grayscale. The problem I am having is my line work is becoming very pixelated when converting to bitmap.
How a drawing in CMYK can be converted to RGB ? At present i am selecting each element of the drawing and manually converting it.Tried the Visual Basic 'File Converter' option, but it doesn't work.
I hope there is a better way as i have many images to convert.
We are able to measure distance in meters between 2 points using COGO tools. Though, when meassuring areas (command area) even setting units to meters it shows: "Area = 0.00000073, Perimeter = 0.00343123" which is not expressed in meters. The area in meters is around 8900m2. We are using latitude, longitude LL84 (WGS84). Is there a way to easily measure area over the map using this coordinate system?
i want to draw a line long 3 meters and i have to type @ before typing 3. If i dont type @ then there is a problem when i want to dimensioned it - there doesn't appear 3 metres but totaly different number. why that happens?
I have some annotation scale in my drawing but over the course of the last year many have come from different places.
We use Annotation scales called Meters 1:1000 but another company we work with use 1:1000m. Is there a way to merge these two annotation scale to Meters1:1000?
Is there a way to change the annotations so that they become millimeters and not meters?
I dont really want to change my entire drawing to millimeters because i have other drawings in my model space which suit meters. It's just this one section I have drawn is so detailed and zoomed in, it really should be in millimeters.
If there isn't i'll just change the whole drawing, but thought I should ask on here first in case I was missing something obvious
I am trying to set up a METRIC project (that I want to make template) that uses meters instead of millimeters.
So I created a new project, without the use of any template. I copied from the default Autocad templates folder the Model and Sheet templates to the new project folder and I set the units, scale and grid to meters and changed the path in project properties to these files.
Everything seems to work fine, except creations of sections/elevations.
I edited the SectionStyles (Metric).dwg file in default styles folder and It works fine.
But I donțt want to change that file in the default folder, but to change the path of the section styles in the project. The only way I could do that was to change it in the tool palette - right click on callout.
So how can I make the SectionStyles to load from a specific location for a project without having to right click on every callout that I want to use and change it manually?
There are some other things to do/change for making the project template that I want? (I am referring to the units setup).
