I have a couple of blocks I've drawn in the wrong layer. I manage to get them over into the layer I want, but the color remains the same as the layer I drew them in. Do you have to go in an change it to a set color instead of "color by layer", or is there another way?
View 7 RepliesWe are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.
I am going through an architectural background, converted over from Revit. I have to go through and routinely burst the object, then qselect, choose what is not equal to bylayer, and change to bylayer.
I don't want to burst everything, making a monster out of the file, but going into every individual block to change the colors within the block to bylayer is also extremely time consuming.
Is there an easier way? maybe a wishlist item for ACAD 2014 to include objects within blocks, when using QSE?
In one of the drawing i use many layers which is different color and used blocks which is also different layer and different color and many more object.I wanna set all color into 253.What is the shortest process about it..I wanna change all layers color into 253..

1. Model parts in steel using metal-steel color.
2. Create assembly from parts.
3. Leave metal-steel as default view.
4. Create new view rep with assembly colored blue.
There are two ways I can do this:
A. Create new view rep "Blue".
B. Select all parts and apply blue color at assembly level. View rep associations are broken.
OR
D. Create new view reps in each part "Blue" and make the part blue in that view rep.
E. Create assembly view rep "Blue" and apply part "Blue" view reps. View rep associations are kept.
A-B is quick but dirty, although in Default view the associations will be kept.
D-E can be tedious in large assemblies.
Is there a quicker way to change color but keep associations?
I have noticed something strange in autocad 2012. when i create a new layer and then pick a color for that layer it will work fine, then when im working in the drawing and i pick a line and go to the pull down to put that line on the new layer, it will not be the color i chose. then when i look in layers to see whats going on, it will be the wrong color, i can change the color back to what i want, but the line will not respond. I actually have to, In the layers, pick a different color, then pick the color i want again and then it will work.

Color are set to "by layer" so that is not the issue.
For whatever reason cad won't let change layer colors once there are lines on it. You change the color and when you close the layer dialog box and layer color doesn't change......

Any way to change the colors in a corridor. With our plot styel, the magenta is really really thick and we always end up turning off corridor. I was wondering if there was a way to just change the colors.
Also, I didn't see a separation of the elements for the corridors. I know with corridor surfaces, there's a breakdown of the major and minor contours and those could easily be changed, but I didn't see a breakdown at all for the corridors. The main reason this is a problem is because I'm trying to add slope arrows through my corridor and I can't turn off the corridor without turning off the slope arrows as well. Where would I go to see what layer each entity on the corridor on...I'm espeically looking for slope arrows and any other type of labels like that...
really simple this but I want to change the colour of some blocks. There are already some of this block in the drawing, but I am adding additional ones and want these to show up by changing the colour to red.
The blocks have been created in Layer 0, and inserted on another layer. When I highlight the blocks in question I can change the colour to Red, but even though the ribbon says otherwise they are still appearing in the original colour.
I have about 100 blocks. They are different in many ways, but all have multiple linear distance parameters, and these have the distance max set to lengths (all of them have different lengths).
I'd like to be able to change the distance max without having to open each block and do this manually.
Is it possible to export block info into Excel and then change it in Excel, and reimport into AutoCAD, saving the new information?
Or is there another way, through Lisp or some other part of AutoCAD that I don't know about?
So, a lot of years ago, someone decided on a particular color for a layer and it became the company standard. Today, and many, Many, MANY standard drawings later, it was determined that that layer's color should change. Any automated way to change and existing layer's color on all the drawings in a directory and that directory's sub-directories?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a series of blocks with all the same attribute tag names. I need to create a function that allows me to change a block from one to another within a drawing.
Can I do this by just changing the block ID? or do I need to go through and grab all the info from the old block and insert a new block with the attribute values and then delete the old block.
I have a drawing in house that has issues. When using edit/ copy and edit / paste on a block within the drawing, the block changes to another block when pasted. On a side note, it comes in at the rotation of the original object which was copied. I believe that I am using V.2000

I want to be able to organize multiple Block into same layer so I can color them by layer and change visibility (hide/Lock) by layer. but when I select everything to organizes "by layer" only non-block line can be organized.
Is there a way I can change multiple block into same layer without exploding them?

Problem: layer of block is still not changed when open with reference edit.
I have a dynamic block of some door hinges. Depending on the height of the door, depends on the type & quantity of hinges used. I was wondering if it is possible to have a block that detects height? If I insert the hinge block onto my drawing, and snap the base point of the block to the bottom left of the desired door, stretch the pick point to the top, I would like it to automatically change from 2x small hinges (for doors under 312mm high), to 2x large hinges (for doors under 1000mm), and finally to 3x large hinges (for doors over 1000mm)?
I have attached a PDF for visual reference to what I'm talking about.
My goal is to change all of the objects colors in an xref drawing to gray to use as a background to my work. All changes to the xref drawing were made in the drawing itself, none of this was done in the base drawing.
The quickest way I could find was to change set by layer mode to color only and use set by layer to change all of the objects (select all). This seemed to work fine, until I noticed that certain text would move slightly when the color changed. Long story short this text (single line) moves slightly when the color is changed, even if I select one text and change the color in its properties.
My question is why would text move or change in some way when you only change the color. It doesn't seem to happen to mtext, only dtext.
I received some outsourcing drawings which include this block. All time if I try do some edits in block editor size of this block changed. Also if you reset this block, size changed. What is wrong with this block?

If in a design we have 100 blocks and we want to change their color to the same (say black), how can we do that? Do we have to do it for every single block or can we select all 100 blocks and change the color uniformly?

I am wanted to change some setting for editing blocks in 2013. I want to edit the block in place by just double clicking onto it. I can go through the properties and click on "edit in place" but I would like to eliminate that step.

I have 2 title blocks in my template called TES ELE and TES EQU
