I would like to know ih which way could make hole pattern on solid material when draw model? Precisely, PC monitor on back side. Monitor has little holes and stripes on the cover to use for ventilation.
View 9 Repliesi am having a hatching issue, it seems no matter what hatch pattern i use and what hatch scale, alot of the hatch looks solid instead of the pattern i want, for example i am using currently ANSI37 @ Annotative with a scale of .20 and on the same paperspace page one plan with the hatch shows the cross hatching and the other one below looks solid (see attached) now i can go and say change the hatch scale and it reverts to the cross hatching, but then when i zoom out it goes back to "solid" is it a graphical issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a part with a parametric pattern in the sketch. When the part gets longer, more holes centers are added to the sketch. However, Inventor does not automatically recognize and select the additional hole centers so the holes do not appear on the part.
If you are wondering why I don't just pattern the hole feature rather than pattern the center marks on the sketch it is because the part is a multi-body solid. The pattern feature does not allow you to select multiple solids. Since these holes need to go through 6 solids, I would rather create one sketch pattern and one hole feature than 6 feature patterns. (By the way, this is a major shortcoming to the mirror and pattern features in Inventor).
How can I set Inventor's hole feature to automatically select all centers (even new ones)?

I just did a Circular Pattern of a threaded holes to a second solid body. The hole came through but the thread did not?Right now I have SP1 installed. I have been using solid bodies for a long time now and have not seen this.

I have noticed that when I place a group of bolts in to a group of existing holes the pattern of bolts seem to be free to rotate about the hole selected when creating the bolt pattern.

What is the best way to get a hole table on a converted SW file. Our Engineers use Solid works and I can easily import the file but when I try to create the hole table in the IDW file it comes up blank.
Do I need to recreate all the holes so they are native to Inventor? or I am missing a conversion setting.

We have several chain guards which we punch from sheet metal. We recently changed our practice to punch a hole pattern in the part rather than weld in a mesh screen - saves shop assembly/fab time. See the attached 2 parts.
My question: Is there an automated way of delelecting all holes within X" of the part edge. Currently we have to go through one by one and it takes a lot of time. how to model this part more efficiently. As you can see, the designer of the new part got lazy and did a rectangular pattern. The goal would be to have a consistent margin around the full perimeter of the part more like the first.
I have a vertical stripe pattern and I have to put it on each glass drawing that I have (8 total). I've four countersunk holes on each unit so I need to trim the glass perimeter and larger hole from the stripe pattern (which is 1/4 inch solid hatch fill with 1/2 inch clear space). How can I make this faster?

I used "project geometry" in an assembly to locate and place a hole from one part to another. How do I save the new hole back to the original solid?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf we require to create patterned holes thru a number of solids, this works great only requiring the one hole feature.
However, once an assembly is created with the parts, (these parts obviously have their own derived individual solids in them) when needing to place a bolted generated assembly to the patterned holes. It won't recognise the pattern.
So I've come to the conclusion that the bolted generator/drop place function really needs improvement for solid body modelling technique. (Mind you, the BG needs a complete rethink because its at about 50% complete).
What I can see needs to be added, is the functionality of the parts recognising the hole pattern. e.g. when using the make components function it gives an option to add a link to the hole feature.
My only other option at present is to create the holes within the assembly file and transfer the hole feature to each part file. This obviously loses the parametric functionality.
I patterned features but the material did not come along for the ride. I know I can change the material manually after the fact but I am making a parametric design so I want this to happen automatically. How do I do this?

The cut and fill areas are hatched solid and I want them set as another hatch style but after attempting to adjust the pattern it does not change. How does one change this and have it show? Civil 3d 2013 is currently being used but may have to back track to 2009.

I have a small problem: I have several images which I need to import / combine with an hole pattern. Then I just need the outlines of the holes (each color) for laser cutting. Doing by hand and coloring each dot is difficult, how to make this in some few steps ?

I made it transparent and it looks really nice in my screen, but as soon as I print either in PDF or hard copy the transparency feature disappear. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Hole that cuts through 2 solid bodies, a gasket and a cover plate. I want to pattern the hole in BOTH solids at the same time, but the pattern feature dialog box will only let me select one solid at a time. I could pattern the hole in one solid before projecting to the other, but the quantity of the holes can change. When the quantity of the holes changes only the holes from the initial pattern are projected. For instance if I have 10 hole initially and it increases to 12 the 2 new holes do not project to the second solid body.

I do not use the sheet metal tools in IV all that often so I fully expect that I have done something completely wrong.

I'm playing around with a part that I'd like to "decorate" with embossed features or perhaps even cut-outs. The actual part, before adornments, looks like a funnel. As sketched now, I'm revolving a spline and then creating a thickened solid feature. I suppose that the variable diameter and varying cross sectional radius of my part increases the level of complexity of this task over a part that looks more like a regular cylinder. I'm hoping to learn a tecnique that will work for revolved parts with highly irregular profiles - not just plain ole cylinders.
So, what I'd like to do is emboss (negative or positive) and/or thru-cut decorative geometric or vine/flower inspired patterns into the outside face of a funnel-like part. (Pic attached.) I'm picturing some sort of pattern that might repeat around the part. (The variable diameter probably really complicates matters here.) I haven't put much effort/experimentation into this yet - pretty much because I'm a loss about where to even start.
recently i got a new workstation at work, and i am puzzled with one problem. I made a clean installation of Max, ran it, and started to work, but for some reason, my material thumbnail shows refraction of A&D material as thin walled even when it is set to solid.
I tried to uninstall max, wipe max directory and user folders in Appdata/Local/Autodesk, reinstall everything again
Happens both in slate and compact ME.

I've got a template with a set of Object defaults for an Inch drawing and a set for a Metric drawing. I've just noticed that within my metric set, if I insert a hole table with tapped holes, the font on the tapped holes doesn't match the other hole types. I'm searched around, but all the settings for the hole table style reference the same text style. (Please see the attached image.)
So is there a way to set a certain hole type to have a certain font or size within a hole table? Because if there is, I'd obviously like to remove it..... But I can't seem to figure out where the issue is.
