AutoCAD Map 3D :: 2002 On 64 Bit - Drawing Pauses And Then Deleted?
Dec 18, 2012I have 2 drafters that are working on AutoCAD Map 2002 programs with Windows 7 64 Bit operating systems. When I started back in August I noticed something absolutely bizarre. I have not come across this before so I am now escalating it to you experts.
What is happening is that the drafter will be working on a DWG. They will save multiple times. Even exit the drawing and come back to it the next day. While in the drawing (on the server OR on their computer, doesn't matter) the drawings will occassionally lock up and get the blue wheel. Then it will simply shut down.
Here is the strange part. The drawing file is deleted from the folder. All save points and everything. Just gone. Sometimes a random save file will be created in the same folder. This has saved us a couple times. But more often than not it is simply gone.
I am trying to convince my VP that we need to upgrade our AutoCAD licenses on these 2 machines.

Feb 15, 2012I am attempting to import a previous customized menu with routines that worked beautifully in Autocad 2002. I can import the menu but the routines don't work. I have copied the search paths identical to those in Autocad 2002 in the tools>options>files in the support file search path, but to no avail.
The menu was developed by Andy Pease (Andy Acad) who is now with Autodesk.

Jul 26, 2013I made a web site with PShop and GOLive back in 2002-2005, I do not have PShop or GOLive anymore, but i wish to edit the path address of those HTML pages generated by PShop and GOLive in 2002-2005, all i have is PS Elements10 and it does not recognize them, and none of my other programs will open the HTML pages so that I can edit them .

Feb 23, 2013I am preparing a batch of images for test submission, for a stock photo library.Recently a person working for one of the visual effects studios in London happened to tell me that these strict agencies use some set of layers that can separate tonality and color values to check for banding, dirtiness, noise and all those technical flaws that the human eye can't notice on a monitor.He said they perhaps have an action for it so that they can review faster.
He said that it is known as 'Craze Curves' or 'Visibility Curves' technique.He further added that all the studios use it before giving the final files to clients so that there is no issue in printing afterwards.It is sort of a quality control check and has been used by digital and advertising agencies all over the world.
But now his email seems to have changed and I can't get in touch with him to know how to use the technique.

Nov 20, 2012I just got back from maternity leave and I left work at Autocad 2011 and came back on Autocad 2013. I work thru my viewports in my model space, and I've noticed that when I pan and zoom in or out or move to quickly from one point to another (didn't notice which) my model space swaps to paper even if I'm in a command. Is this something I can deactivate?

Jan 15, 2013My problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
AutoCad :: Scaling Is Different In Viewport When Working On Model Than Model Space?
Feb 21, 2011I then change to my A0 template on a different tab in the same drawing, size up the model in model space within the viewport (everything still fine), then as soon as I scale the model to 1:200 the icons I've added to the drawing (I say icon it's one particular group of icons - CCTV camera icons I've made and added) suddenly become massive and three times the size.
If I add them when already at 1:200 they're fine but it only seems to do this when I actually scale the drawing.

Apr 13, 2012Basically I've got a detail specific to my design, I've extruded all of the layers up to their desired levels etc, but now I want to be able to rotate it all so that instead of these layers being orientated vertically, they are orientated horizontally, if that makes sense. I understand that there is something involved with the UCS but I'm not sure how to get this to work. This may be an issue with my computer as I know my laptop graphics card is pretty rubbish and impacts a lot of 3d programs such as Rhino and SketchUp so this could be the issue here

I have it in a layout (paper space) and used a viewport to get the section I am after but there are some changes in labeling and minor model modifications needed to make it a stand alone model and I do not want to modify the original model to make these changes. How can I take a section like I have in view port and make it into its own model with a different scale so the changes can be made and the original model is left in tact?

Mar 4, 2008We received a surface model from a vendor that I have patched up as best I can, it still has one hole that I can find that I haven't been able to fill. Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.

Jun 14, 2012CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

Feb 3, 2013Fillet works fine on a single curve and straight lines, but I'm having trouble using the fillet command on two curves (arcs). I have two circles which I have trimmed into arcs roughly to the correct length, when I try to fillet them (with various radii) the filleted curve either connects to the wrong end of one of the existing curves, or the filleted curve curves in the wrong direction. I've used this tool a lot before and have never had problems - until now. Is there a way to decide which way the fillet curves?

Oct 23, 2012I've created a 3D product model in an application that does not have any text capabilities (Autodesk Inventor Fusion 2013). I'm trying to get that model into AfterEffects (AE) via the Photoshop live object technique.
But before I open it in AfterEffects, in Photoshop CS 5.5 Extended, I'm trying to add the product text graphics to the "Diffuse" layer of the model so, when animated in AE, all the text moves with the appropriate perspective, etc.
For the life of me I can't figure out how to format the text to fit the model.
Fusion saves files natively to .DWG format, but they appear non-standard and without some key data.
I was able save the file as a "STEP" file .stp, then translate to .3DS format. That file results in a model that opens just fine in Photoshop and when saved in .psd format, and opened in AE as a Photoshop Live object, works fine. I can't image getting the text on the surface in AE would be easier/better than Photoshop.
Each time I double click on Layer 1's Diffuse (texture) sub-layer (is that the correct term?), I can put some text in the new window, but the scale is always way wrong, the orientaion is 90 degrees off (counter clockwise), and the text is clearly trying to wrap and repeat all around the model. I'm just trying to get a set of text (several pieces in different locations - company name, product name, some small additional text) on one side of the surface bound as if it were part of the model.
As an aside, I did try to add the 3D model, converted to a .DAE file, to presets > meshes as suggested in the help files, so I could treat it like one of the 3D object presets, and add the text that way.
No matter what I do I can't get the mesh to appear in the pre-set list. I don't see any way to "activate" the mesh other than place the file in .DAE format in that folder. Yes, I've exited and re-started Photoshop many times.

Apr 17, 2012I have alignment with 2 curves at the beginning and end that I want to keep. It has a few PIs in between ke that are not supposed to have curves, but Civil 3D added them in (very short 200 ft radius curves), but I need to take all but the first and last curves out.
I tried setting Constraint Editing - toggled OFF lock all parameter constraints. Then I went into the data and tried to change the parameter. Can't get the curve out. Is there a way to convert a PI from one with a curve to one without a curve?
I can't afford to redraw this alignment - it's being referenced via Data Shortcuts to multiple drawings being used by me and my designer / already has my design profiles and existing profiles attached to it.
How to do this? - Delete the curves and make them PIs only? (without curves).
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Direction Arrows For Curves

When I create a line label, one of the components available is “Direction Arrow”. This component is not available for “Curve” labels. I would really like to use C3D labels to indicate direction (I realize curves don't have a 'direction', but I don’t mind manually flipping and reversing the arrow). Is there any other label option in C3D that will draw a direction arrow for curves?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Super Elevation With No Curves
Jan 24, 2011I'm working on a runway in Civil 3D 2011. I want to transition cross slopes along the runway. i.e. 1.5% for sta 1+00 to 10+00 and then transition into 1.0%. I thought super elevation would be the best way to do this (I dont want any actual super elevation, just transitions in cross slope). When I select the alignment and "Calculate/Edit Superelevation" i get the following message in the commanding line:
"_AeccCalcEditSuperelevation No superelevation data has been calculated for the selected reference alignment." It does not bring up the wizard.
My runway alignment doesn't have any curves and I'm thinking that's the problem. Is is possible to create super elevation without curves?

Jun 29, 2013I am used to drafting surveys using Eagle Point Coordinate Geometry & Boundary Survey & I am now moving over to C3D, & I am trying to reproduce a boundary survey in C3D 2010, when it comes to Tangent & Non Tangent curves there does not appear to be any routine that allows you to create them in logical sequence or otherwise from the geometrical info provided on paper maps i.e. Radius, Delta Angle & Length, are there any survey techs on here that have been able to resolve this issue?
