AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Read Excel File To Insert Text Values At Coordinates
Mar 6, 2013
I got a new work and get it done in the next 2 days, but first I need to do this... from a text file (or excel file, I got both) I got 3 columns, 1 one for node number, and 2 other for X and Y coordinates for each node.
So from that file I need to insert into autocad the node numbers as text (using the current style and height) at the point specified by the other two columns, that are the X,Y coordinates which will be the insertion point of text..

how to extract the attribute value of a particular block in multiple drawings to an excel file.
Eg... there are nearly 800 drawings where I need to list down the description and Drawing number which is mentioned in the title block name "Title". The Drawing Number and the description is done in same attribute block. extract the data into an excel file or txt file. All the drawings are saved in one location.

I have a 2 point LWPOLYLINE that has the following coordinates at its end point when I 'ID' the point.
Command: id
Specify point: end
of X = 709369.3214 Y = 7153039.9690 Z = 269.2143
However if I use..
(vlax-safearray->list (vlax-variant-value (vla-get-coordinates (vlax-ename->vla-object (car (entsel))))))
I get this
(-450567.0 269.288 -450570.0 269.214)
and if I 'dump' the object..
; Coordinates = (-450567.0 269.288 -450570.0 269.214)
; Document (RO) = #<VLA-OBJECT IAcadDocument 09855674>
; Elevation = 7.17399e+006
I don't have a clue where the '-450567.0' is coming from.
I'm in Model Space in 'World' UCS, and I'm confused.. why does the 'ID'd' value not reflect whats going on when I use the vla-get-coordinates approach.
There are many other LWPolylines within the same model that behave normally.
I've attached the drawing (I think!)

I found this LISP code that can insert a block at coordinates from an ASCII.
(defun c:universal( / file f a osmode);PointsToBlocks(while (not file)(setq file (getfiled "Input file" "coords" "txt" 4)))(setq f (open file "r")osmode (getvar "OSMODE"))(setvar "OSMODE" 0)(while (setq a (read-line f))(command "._insert" "block1" a 1 1 0))(setvar "OSMODE" osmode)(princ)
What I want to be able to do is insert blocks from an ASCII and also set the x-, y-, and z-scales.
For example, I have these lines in ASCII, the data points refer to X position, Y position, Z position, X scale, Y scale, and Z scale.

I am using 2008 and I have a dynamic block with attributes that I want to insert with the below program and have the attritute values filled in automatically. I have done this with other programs in the past and they worked great with literally no problems. They were not dynamic blocks may be the reason this does not work. Why the block will not fill in the attributes like it should. Occasionally in my testing I see a message about "units" when I am inserting the block but I have my insunits set to 0. I have attached one of the blocks I want to use. I am thinking either you cannot do this because it is a dynamic block or there is a new variable that won't let it work.
(setq upisosym "L:/AcadUtilsJack/Programs/InsertIsoSymbols/ELL90BW_Flip_01" isosym "rat")
(setq upod "3" upsch "sched" upmatl "matl" uprat "400")
I found these two new variables and turn them off or 0 thinking they might be the problem???
(setvar "INSUNITSDEFTARGET" 1)
(setvar "INSUNITSDEFSOURCE" 1)

I often have DXF files that contain very many short (10 digits or less) instances of text, and only a few long instances of text (11 digits or more)....
I would like to use AutoLISP to delete all of the short text in my DXF file, but leave the longer text.

lisp routine that will add together the values of text entities? For instance, if I have a big parking lot and each section is labeled with the number of spaces, I could pick the texts and it would add all the numbers together to give me a total. Right now I export to excel to do this. I have quite a few situations where this would be handy, not just for parking spaces, so I really just want a lisp that will add all my selected numbers.

What I am trying to do is create a selection set of the "y" values of text. I've started by pulling out all the text on the drawing, but I need it to continue to grab only the "y" values of the text on the drawing.
(setq alltext (ssget "_x" (list '(0 . "TEXT"))
)
)
I've tried a bunch of different things but I am still new to lisp.

(if (findfile MyFile)
(setq fl (open MyFile "a"))
)
the file exists however the open function still returns nil... the file is not read only, and permission on the file appear to be just fine.What other reasons would there be that cause open function to return nil?This is happening only on one machine. All the others are writing to the file just fine.

I'm dimensioning an old drawing with the real (measured) dimensions and with the drawing dimensions in brackets (using ' 1500 (<>)' to give '1500 (1505)' for example.
What I'd like is to also be able to put on the difference between the length I type in and the length in brackets - as this would let me see any really glaring errors that can't be attributed to user-error on the laser measure.So I could type in '1500 (<>) (X)' where X is the formula, and get ' 1500 (1505) (5)' back?
How to be able to run a script that could highlight any dimensions where the number is brackets and the typed number have a a difference of, say, 50.Or failing that, any way to extract all the dimension text at the end into excel so I can see the differences myself?

I am trying to export each sheet in an Excel file to an separateTXT files.
I currently have code to read each cell in a sheet, but unfortunately some of the Excel sheets have in excess of 5000 cells and it is taking too long to read. So I am switching to another method.
The program will check dates of TXT files and XLS file to make sure TXT files are current (if not, open and recreate TXT files).Then read the TXT files (much faster).
Where I am getting stuck is 2 places -
Get the names of each sheet in the excel file (not always a known name)
Save each sheet as separate TXT file.
Here is condensed code so far without error checking, etc -
(defun E2TXT (FileName /)
(if (and (setq XLfile (findfile FileName)) (vl-file-systime XLfile) (setq XLapp (vlax-get-or-create-object "Excel.Application")))

We have a custom LISP program (Written, upadated in 2003) that takes a keyed in item number, opens and searches a .txt file with four coulmns, for the keyed in item number (column 1) and returns a part number (column 2), description (column 3) and any information in column 4.
Here is the Part of the cod in question:
(setq recx (open "H:/ACAD2012/alcocustm/LISP/hardware.txt" "r"))
(setq d "?")
(setq rec (read-line recx))
[Code]....
A quetsion was asked if the data in the .txt file could be put in an Excel file. I tried looking at other post, but I can't seem to find a clear cut way to open and extract the data. Or this old dog overlooked a boand. Is there a easy way to do this, similar to the above?

I am writing a program to grab a bunch of layers from a list, check a drawing to see if the layers are on the list, and if not save to an external file. I have the second part of the program done, but I can't get the first part to work.
I am trying to open a file read the contents and save it to a list.
Here is the code I have so far, but it doesn't even get into the foreach statement.
(setq layerslist (list '"0list" '"detaillist" '"clearancelist" '"clearanceelist" '"doorsdrawerslist" '"hiddenlist" '"hiddenelist" '"deletelist"))(setq count 0)(foreach thislayer layerslist (setq f (open (strcat "C:\filterlists\" thislayer ".txt") "r")) (while (/= (setq text (read-line f)) nil) (setq (read thislayer) (cond ( (= 0 count) (cons (cons 8 text) (read thislayer)))( (append (read thislayer) (list (cons 8 text))) ) );cond );setq (setq count (+ count 1)) );while (close f) );foreach
I've also attached one of the text files. Im doing something in the wrong order, or I have something inside the wrong set of parenthesis.

I have many of these blocks placed in a drawing, could you create a lisp that would return the sum of the number value and return it to the command line along with the letter value.
