View 4 RepliesSay I have 2 items, one is on layer "M-Duct" and the other on "M-Pipe" (they are in the same drawing). Any lisp routine that would create the layers "M-Duct-New" and "M-Pipe-New" (based on the same color and LT as the original layers) and then move those objects to the newly created layers?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAny script that when ran will set lineweights of a layer based on what color the layer is assigned. For instance if I have 3 lines that are green on 3 different layers. I need the script to change all 3 layers lineweight  to .015mm. I have drawings that are inconsistant with layer names so layer translator and methods of that nature will not work because I do not know all the layer names and I have 100 drawings to do this to.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer.  The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.

I made a wax seal on Photoshop with a lot of embossment, bedevilment and a Smart Filter. It's done and I just need to make it smaller so it fits well on my certificate. When I resize it (Ctr + T) It pops up a message that reads:Â
______________________________________________
Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended
Â
"Smart Filters applied to layers contained in this group will be turned off temporarily while the transform is being previewed. They will be applied after committing the transform."
Â
OK
Â
[] Don't show again

Â
I click OK and I re-size the layer with free transform, and then hit enter. The Layer is resized but my Smart Filter which creates a wavy affect around the seal is totally distorted.
Â
How do re-size my layer with smart filter without affecting the smart filter aspect of the layer.
I had a black and white layer with circles drawn to represent droplets of water, and I want to be able to move it, add to it, etc. How can I make it liquify the background underneath based on that droplet layer?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt seems once you enter a custom name for a text layer in the Layer palettes, it breaks the connection between the text content and the layer name.
Â
Is there any way to get a text layer's name to be the same as the content of the text layer? (In After Effects, if you clear out a custom name of a layer, it will automatically rename a text layer to what the text contains.)
Just upgraded to LT13 from LT12 and noticed that the layer filters don't change the list of layers in the manager. for example if I click on an xref'd drawing in the filter tree in past versions only the layers in that drawing would be visible. In 13 all layers are still visible. Is there a setting in this version I am unaware of?Â
I'm sure this is the first of several "quirks" I will discover with the new version that I will most assuredly ascribe to a step backwards in functionality in the interest of pushing out a new piece of software. How many days before the first service pack is available?
I have been working on an extensive template and wanted to add some layer filters too it. I was wondering if there was a list anywhere that outlines what different characters mean to the fillter? What I mean is... I know that ~*|* excludes xfref layers because ~ means 'not' and * means "anything" and | is the character we are looking for. But what are all the other things that filters understand?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed. Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I saw no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I don't want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipe outs don't work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
another complaint that doesn't have anything to do with AutoCAD, but since I'm venting... we just got a KIP 7100 printer/scanner. WORST printer/scanner we've ever had. Period. Getting the right driver, then getting the driver to produce good drawings to the correct paper size was ridiculous, and the gray shades still look like we're using a big dot matrix printer. Scanning is the most painful thing; compared to the Xerox 6204 we gave up, the quality is poor and PDF file sizes are huge.
I'm attempting to create a layer property filter so that all used layers except xref ones show up. I can use the Invert filter option, but that doesn't stay checked between sessions for some reason. How can I set up this property filter?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have AutoCAD LT 2008 soon to be LT 2012 and I also have AutoCAD 2012.
I would like to know if there is a way that I can set up a Layer Filter and transfer it from one drawing to another.
Ideally we would be able to do this in the LT version not full. If there is some way to do this with Tool Palletes that would be great.
I have files with oodles and oodles of layers, mostly from various x-refs. I Purge as many layers from x-refs as I can but we all know how fond some *cough*engineers*cough* are of layers. When I use the Layer Manager, I first click on the X-ref-category and then tick the Invert-box at the bottom. This nifty trick means that I only see the layers that I have created in my drawing.
The problem comes when I open the drawing the next time.
The X-ref-category is still in effect but the Invert-box is unticked. This means that I see all layers that I didn't create that are in the drawing. This is all fine and dandy if I am in the Layer Manager. But I also use the drop-down-layer-list on the Ribbon to quickly change layer on obejcts. And that drop-down-list is affected by the sorting in the Layer Manager. So I can't move my objects to the layer I want, because all I see in the drop-down-list are the x-ref layers.
As I said, this is more of a peeve than anything, and it's not a big deal to open the layer manager, click All Layers and then go on with my life. But it's just one more sigh each time I open a drawing.
Why can't the Invert-box stay ticked?
Or why can't the selection revert back to All and not stay on x-ref-layers?
Is there a way to convert the pixel based phtoshop files to the vector based illustrator files?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn one of the machines here we seem to have lost the functionality of the layer filters. When a group filter is created, it shows in the list, you can add layers to the filter, but when you view the filtered layers, its all the layers. Also, when there are unreconciled layers and you navigate to this filter, it shows the entire layer list. Is there some setting that may have been changed?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my template, is there a way to setup a layer filter or layer state to automatically plot a different viewport color when a new drawing is created and viewports are made? Note, my template does not have viewports premade.Â
I've set all my Existing and Proposed Utilities to use the WV Miss Utility colors, but I designated either pale (odd color#) for existing and bold (even color#) for proposed so that in model space there's a visual difference. See a few examples below:
V-SSWR-PIPE (color 91)
V-WATR-PIPE (color 151)
C-SSWR-PIPE (color 92)
C-WATR-PIPE (color 152)
Our Civil dept doesn't use colors, but our Utility dept does occasionally especially when Aerials are used.
When we create layouts/viewports in a drawing, it would be nice to have viewport layer colors automatically be set to plot black or gray or be on/off depending on existing conditions sheet or proposed site plan sheet. The only way I know of is if I would set up viewports inside my template with VP Color Overrides preset and/or VP freezes for certain layers, which I'm hesitant in doing.
When I save layer states overrides for a certain view port and mane it e.g. "K", in layer state manager current layer state is shown as "K", but when I change layout and come back to this one, in layer state manager current layer state is shown as *UNSAVED* again!!!
This results in a great problem. If I update layer state "K" it does not update all view ports that should have layer state "K" automatically so I have to go trough all of them again and apply "K" again and again after any change to "K" is made.
Link to other thread: Apply Layer State Overrides to view ports using filter which, if answered could bypass the problem.
It could be interesting to activate a layer filter from a combobox (I'd like to have  this combo into the layers panel) in order to have fast access to the layers beginning to this filter.Â

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have determine that my AutoCad 2009 will allow me to drag/drop layers to an existing Group Layer Filter, but it will not allow me to right click on the Group Filter>Select Layers>Add. Once I go to the model space an select layers then "enter" no layers are added to the Filter Group and it gives me an error message that says "unable to modify layers while another command is active".
View 0 Replies View RelatedWhy my AutoCad 2009 will not let me select new layers to a specific group layer filter. It was working just fine and yesterday all of sudden it will not let me add new layers to a specific filter. Is there a button or command that maybe would have changed that function. View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a lot of Group Layer Filters so I can turn things on/off quickly. My problem is I have been creating my Layer Filter Group by right clicking on the Layer Group Filter>going to Selection>then click Add> then go back to my drawing or Layout tab and select all of the layers I need then click enter. One day my AutoCad would not let me do that anymore, and even after I click on enter it gives me an error message saying the command is still active. Now from my Layer Properties Manager I can select any layer and drag/drop it into any filter and it works, but I really need to be able to select things within the model space or paper of each layout tabs.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI often work on drawings which have multiple xrefs, each having up to 100 Layers or more, so the layer manager can be a bit difficult to trawl through to find a local layer to select.
I know how to create a local layer filter using the code ~*|* from the new filter area in layer manager.
Ideally all I want to have to type in is: LOCAL and then the local layer filter would be created, with the filter name being Local-Layers (or similar).
I have a picture of a face and the background is water. I want to make a water face and to do that i need to make a water effect out of the face. "Plastic wrap" is a nice filter to use. I select the face and applying the filter, but the filter is now "in" the face (merged), but i want the plastic wrap filter to be in a new layer so i can disable the face and have the water-face effect and the background left.
How do i do that? If i make a new layer above the face and applaying the filter, i get a error because there wasn't any pixel to use.
I want to be able to add a filter effect as an adjustment-style layer and thus change some areas of the mask to make a patchy filter effect in the same way I would with my regular adjustment layers. How do I do this?
