I created a couple of files and saved each in SHP and SDF file formats. The only problem I am having is that when I reconnect to these files (in a different autocad file) using FDO and viewing the Data Table the columns are all displayed in alphabetical order, not the order in which they were orginally created.
View 3 RepliesIs there a way I can sort the columns in the dashboard alphabetically? Normally you just click the title in these windows to toggle the way it sorts it, but you cannot do that with this tool. Its making my cut/fill report look messy, as the surface volumes are not in any order.

1.Sort an assembly BOM by Part Number.
2. Renumber Items in the BOM as sorted.
3. Sort a drawing Parts list by item number.
The background to my problem is that i have an assembly which is working beautifully turning components on and off (suppressing/activating in LOD reps) as defined by iLogic rules (iLogic is awesome). The problem is whenever a part is turned on/activated again, it shows up at the bottom of the BOM and Parts list out of order (would be nice if parts went back in the list where they came from).

Any LISP routine or another trick to increase an attribute alphabetically?
I have a block whose tag is defaulted to "A". Typically, I will copy this block however many times I need it in a drawing (could be 20 or so). I would like to increase the letter by one, either when I copy it or afterwards when they are all placed.
I use a variety of programs to edit the xmp data (mostly Lightroom and exiftool right now), so I know the importance of the "Automatically write XMP data to file setting" (ON in my case). After a few days (actually more like a week) of writing xmp data and then reading into (or synching folders in) Lightroom, I found a number of "metadata conflicts" in my catalog. Since these are basically impossible to fix for a large catalog (since there is no way to show the files that have conflicts), I started over and created a new catalog, and imported all 40,000+ images into it.
However, with my new catalog (with presumably no metadata conflicts), the first image that I tried to change the metadata on gave me a metadata conflict (presumably when Lightroom tried to save the xmp data after I changed it). This was a jpg file, so the metadata is being (or not being) written into the file. Reading the metadata from the file into Lightroom did not fix the problem. The Metadata Status field in the Lightroom Metadata panel says "Unknown" and clicking on the word "Unknown" brings up a panel saying "There was an unknown error while writing metadata to this photo. Retry?", and neither retrying the save nor importing the settings from disk resolves the conflict.
I think that the problem is that the jpeg is somehow corrupt, because if I save a copy in Photoshop, I can read and write the metadata in that copy. And, the copy has, I think, the same metadata as the original. (Of course, the image is probably imperceptibly degraded because I re-jpeg'd it).
There is no message in Console (I'm on Mac). (See PS)
I am worried that I have a number of files with this kind of problem, I guess I could "Save Metadata" for all files in my catalog (thus updating the file modified date for all 2 TB of data, and causing a massive backup issue), and then look through my catalog for those elusive exclamation points. But I'd like something better.how the jpeg could have gotten corrupted, but I do have an archived version that I could look at.
I know how to increment pick points numerically (see below). How is it done alphabetically?

I've read that among the new functions Adobe added to the CS File Browser is the ability to sort selected images on a number of fields, for example date/time created, file size, image width, height, etc.
Question for CS users who use Batch...
Once images are selected and sorted in the desired sequence using the CS File Browser sort function, does this mean that when one invokes the Batch dialog (either from the FB menu or the File > Automate menu and Source=File Browser) the images will be batch processed in the sorted order?
In PS7 (and earlier versions) the order of batch processing has always been in alphabetical file name order.
In LR5 I wish to sort by file name. However my camera names files as ABC123, ABC124, ABC125 etc etc. Lightroom sorts such names as ABC3, ABC2, ABC5 etc because the numeral part of the name is looked as as an ascii not a numeral. I think!!
However whatever the reason, sorting such file names doesn't work. As each import may consist of several hundred files, renaming manually to avoid numerals isn't an option.
Is there a naming system that can be automated that would result in this type of sorting resulting in what a human would expect?
Filenames such as Garden(1), Garden(2) etc are no better by the way.
1. When creating a subclip from the source sequence, I then go to edit the name of the new subclip in the Media Library. After doing this, the sequence timeline switches to what looks like a viewer, and won't switch out of that mode until I double-click a sequence in the Media Library. This appears to happen when I create a new folder and drag the subclip into it.
2. Clips in the Medial Library within Folders are in sorted order. Please allow the editor to place clips, folders and sequences in whatever order they want, via drag and drop placement.
3. Shift-/ (play in-out) does not appear to work.
4. Names in the Media Library that are too long only show the end of the name. Standard Mac behavior is to show the beginning, then an ellipsis, and finally the end.
5. When viewing a source "timeline" (which rocks, BTW), please remove the name of the source from the timeline track. It gets in the way of audio waveforms, and in this case, is redundant since there's only the one clip anyway.
With so many choices, it would be nice to have an option for alphabetically sorting by the extension.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis morning the shop brought back a set of drawings and requested that I provide a cut list for the fab department. Our drawings consist of an assembly drawing and materials list on the first page with several individual parts on each of the following pages. I am looking at including a column in the ML for the operation ( laser, saw, shear) and sorting the list by it. However when I do this the Item Numbers on the list are all confused. If a person were to look at a balloon on a drawing and then attempt to find it in the list it would be difficult and time waster.
The questions.
1. Is there a way to renumber the item list after sorting the material?
2. If I place an assembly view off the edge of the sheet for each of the following sheets and then place a materials list on each sheet, is it possible to create a plugin that would find which parts are on the sheet and hide all the other parts on the list? I have just started going through the "my first plugin" tutorial and this sounds like a place where it should be useful but I don't know which tags I need to look for.

In MS Word I can have some text that is all in one full width column, then put in a break and have a later section in multiple columns, then a break and go back to one column.

How in AutoCAD 2012 to be able to extract more than 256 columns worth of attributes per block?
It keeps giving me an error saying that excel won't allow it... excel has had more columns than 256 since 2007!?!?!
Or is there a third party extraction tool that I can use that extracts information in the same way the AutoCAD one does?
How do you get MTEXT columns to go from left to right? The default is left to right. When the mtext gets to the column limit it creates another column to the right. I want the column to be on the left. I've done this 'before and I thought the variable was available in the properties bar but I can't find how to do this anymore.

I'm doing a revision rearrangement and would like to add to the BOM New, Existing, and Relocated properties. The problem is that each individual component may be unique. Ie. I have a desk w/ 3 identical monitors. One monitor is existing and the others are new. I'd like to have the BOM show that I have 3 monitors, 2 are new and 1 is existing. The BOM would have 4 columns, one for the total number of parts and 3 for the New, Existing, and Relocated counts.
I don't mind if the new columns need to be manually updated.
I'm modelling columns in-place. I have given the first one a Type Mark name but when i copy it the Type Name does not copy with it and the count in my schedule remains at 1.
Due to the shape of the member i had to model it as an in-place family.
I've used the attached code to set the number of colu9mns and rows in a table adn it works with all my tests.
However I also receive the warnings:
"Public overridable property NumRows() As Integer is obsolete. Use 'Table.Rows.Count' instead"
and
"Public overridable property NumColumns() As Integer is obsolete. Use 'Table.Columns.Count' instead"

Both the Rows and Column Count property are Read only.
Is there a way to set the decimal place for the columns in Autodesk Inventor 2011? I have a length column I am trying to use for the p/n but I need it to be 2 places and they show up from zero to 4 dec places. I have set it inside excel but it never retains the setting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to add beams to a layout of columns and some of them (not all) are behaving oddly. Instead of the beam trimming square at the side of the columns, the column and beam are joining with a mitered connection. The same is happening with some of the intersecting beams...a 45 degree miter on each beam.
There must be some setting that I have inadvertantly changed but I cannot find what it is. Changing trimming parameters in the Properties panel that seem like they should be involved, has no effect. And neither does cycling, via the Control key, the connection parameter when the beams are placed.
Is there any way that values in BOM columns would automatically change depending on the characteristics of the part?
Example:
I have a parametric metal rod that depending on its length has a different part number assigned to it in our company's catalog.
When I change its length in parametric assembly (50" rod is has different number than 70" rod) I want the part number to change as well in the "part number" column.
I created a table in AutoCAD map3d 2010, merged 3 columns and added it to my tool pallete but, when i drag the table again from tool palette and place in drawing, merge between columns are missing in the table, they looks like seperate columns.

How to get columns working in a multi line attribute.
I changed system variable ATTIPE (attribute in place editor) to 1 which added the extra formatting options but the columns button is greyed out. As a work around I just use tab stops but columns would be better if possible.
I have a series of 3d walls in autocad Architecture 2012 and an existing CAD 2d structural column layout.
I need to remove/cut or trim the wall around the HSS columns on a floor plan. The walls show the consttruction of the wall and I can't seem to create a void or mass to cut out around the column. Is there an easy way of doing this so that I can just place this in a block to auto cut the wall. My hope was to create a column block so that I can just drop the HSS columns wherever i want them.
I know i can use a wipeout to clear the area however, that is not ideal as we have other linework that need to be visible.
Is there is any way to re-arrange the columns in my ipart table without having to delete all of my parameters and then adding them back in the order that I want them to appear in? I would like certain information grouped together instead of having to scroll back and forth across the row to edit certain parameters.
