View 2 RepliesI am working with a country grid shape file that has 2994 grid numbers. I am trying to convert the shape file to an autocad image. However, about one-third of the feature ID's do not save into the new autocad drawing. Is there a way to just select a portion of the shape file to convert into a drawing? Or just convert all the feature id's and not the grid shapes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to import a shapefile into acadmap; this file has contourlines, and in the attribute tables there also is the Attribute for the elevation of the repective line, noted as integer number
after import all lines are on elevation 0
how can I filter all those with same elevation attribute, change them to an AutoCAd object (polyline) and have them moved up to the respective elevation which can be read out from the attribute table?
There are manys lines appearing in the converted OBJ file:

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a set of 8 coordinates that outline a pit. I have been asked to calculate it's volume. I have input the coordinates, and have produced a 3D image of the pit. I was hoping to be able to convert the object (the pit) that I have created to a solid, so I could then determine the volume, although it is proving to be difficult.
how I could calculate the volume of this pit?
how to convert a bunch of lines into one continuous polyline?

View 1 Replies View RelatedTotal buffoon when it comes to getting GIMP to do what I want to do. I'm just practicing with making maps, black lines on a white background, and I've run into some issues I'm wondering if I can get rectified.
1) For whatever reason, the line weight of everything has shifted throughout the file, ending with some lines lighter and grayer than others. Is there a way I can get GIMP to trace all the lines in a uniform black, with uniform thickness?
2) I have tried locking the white background, but often when I select and move my black lines, if I don't click in just the right spot it moves the white background instead, which is really, reeeaaaly aggravating. How Do I get that background to be completely untouchable?
3) In trying to colour the image, I've run into problems with their being a white outline between the colour and the black lines. I think I need to sharpen the image or somesuch? How can one correct this issue?
4) Is there anyway to convert the black dotted lines of the paths tools into straight black lines, in regards to an older file? If not, is there an easy way to trace them?
5) I find the scale too tends to make my image too jagged. I want to take a section of my map, move it too another file and enlarge it to do detail work - what's the best way to do this in order to have a clear image?
6) Any way to translate an image from a MErcator Projection ot a Winkell-Trippel projection, one that works on a Mac?
In Revit there is a tool to convert lines to walls including lines of an xrefed AutoCAD file. Is this feature available in ACA?

Someone mentioned something about WMFOUT and WMFIN but that gave me some pretty weird, wobbly lines as a result and plus it didn't scale things the same when I used WMFIN.

I prepare this:

Just going over some old stormwater flows but have some other stuff included in the coordinates I have, is their anyway to convert lines to points?

I have noticed a few subtle UI changes in PShop CC -some of which seem like bugs. When I apply "transform" to a newly created Elipse path (which has been pre-specified as a path), I get this prompt:
"This operation will turn a live shape into a regular path. Continue?"
But the elipse I have created is NOT a shape. The Path option has already been selected. Yes, this is a very minor quibble, but as a former beta (and alpha) tester, I tend to be compulsively thorough! OTOH, perhaps there is a user error on my part. I did double check that new paths created with elipse tool are spec'd as "paths".
Is there a way to convert text to an editable shape?
I have a font that I am thinking of using for a project; the font is near to what I want but still requires modification on some letters. I've tried the 'convert to editable shape' function but it has no effect. (I'm not referring to stretching or squashing or distorting the text; I need to bring up point handles.)
I am coming from Coreldraw X6 and trying to find my way around. Illustrator has some very cool alignment features and a great UI design but I am struggling with the manipulation of shapes. Below is an example of a shape I made in Corel. It was dead easy, just a case of making square with two rounded corners, making four copies and welding them together. How would you make this shape in Illustrator?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need a function that allows to convert the polylines selected with a width globalize defined in a double closed line (spaced by the same width of the polyline), with a hatch inserted automatically defined.
Brilliant idea to draw raceways quickly: instead of making handmade double lines, connect, enter the hatches all by hand, you could quickly draw the polyline with width identical to the size of the duct, and then the lisp transform it into a duct more aesthetically pleasing if compared to the full polyline!
When you use the Photoshop CS6 new function stroke on the path of a vector shape, how can you convert the result in a vector shape ? Merging multiple vector shapes doesn't work. The strokes outlines are not vectorized in the new vector shape.
It's possible to convert in pixel and keep the stroke drawing, but no way to convert in vector. Illustrator has a similar function in order to vectorize the stroke.
I try and try to get how vector points work... within Illustrator and within the pen tool in Photoshop and just cannot get to grips with it. So when i create a logo I tend to start my work in photoshop where generally i will end up with a font and a shape.
Now i understand the basics, such as not resizing the shapes / fonts if they are rasterized etc and generally keeping things crisp looking within photoshop but my problem comes when trying to turn my reletivly simple font and shape into a vector based image so that it can be scaled up and down
My logos look immaculate when viewed at 100% in photoshop, but as soon as i create a work path from the selection it never makes a crisp path, with all the correct curves and straight edges that i expect to see.
Up till now, i always assumed it was just the original fonts that i use and they just arent created completly smooth. But now my work path is really wonky. Whether i use a tolerence of 0.5 or not.. it just doesnt hug my lettering at all. The marching ants i see are even better placed than the work path.
Ps. I use CS6
