AutoCAD Map 3D :: AECC Alignment Object Properties Export To ESRI Shapefile
Dec 5, 2013
I am transforming water system components from Autocad dwg files (created in Civil 3d 2013 I think) to a personal (or file) geodatabase in ArcGIS 10.1. I am not familair with using Civil 3d.
I would like to know if there is some way I can export (as ESRI shapefile) AECC alignment objects (waterlines) as lines/polylines and preserve associated data (flow direction and station label info) as field attributes associated with the lines/polylines. I am not sure if there is elevation data associated with the alignments, but would want to preserve that data too if it is available.
Currently working with water system asset inventory mapping and geodatabase design
using Autocad Map 3d 2014 on Windows 7
using ESRI ArcGIS 10.1 on Windows 7
using ArcGIS 10.2 on Windows 8.1
Using GPS Pathfinder to export to shapefile to load into AutoCAD. I've done it before, but I messed up the Pathfinder software this time. Using Pathfinder version 4.20
Opened Pathfinder, went Utilities (top tool bar)...Export and the Export popup came up. Then accidently deleted "Sample ESRI shapefile" from the "Choose an Export Setup" drop down list. Clicked the New button at the bottom. Selected a new ESRI shapefile set up, clicked ok.
What do I enter in the Export Setup Properties tabs? (tabs are Position Filter, Coord. System, ESRI Shapefile, Data, Output, Attributes, Units) What were the values in the original "Sample ESRI shapefile?". I tried not entering anything...the points can be exported to a shapefile, the shapefile can be loaded into AutoCAD map but there is no coordinate system (even if coordinate systems is edited in AutoCAD) so the points are always shown at (0,0).
Also tried uninstalling Pathfinder on my computer and then using the original CD to reinstall. Still not showing Sample ESRI Shapefile after reinstalling. How does the CD not reinstall clean? Have turned the computer off and on between deleting and reinstalling.
I've got a drawing that shows the site boundary for a planning application, its just a polyline drawn round xref mapping. A client wants us to export this to a shapefile, or as ESRI format I've heard (its all a bit vague). I believe they want to have it as a Mapinfo layer.
The client has sent through some 'instructions' that are I've never even heard of ESRI format before.
I'm new (again) to using AutoCAD and am a GIS user. I just wanted to know if there was a way to import an ESRI shapefile (.shp extension) into AutoCAD 2011. This is the only version I have and don't really have any extensions with it. Can I do this or do I need different software?
I am currently using AutoCad Map3d 2013. I am trying to export some features to esri shape file. When I use the export command it does not export all the features, only a few of them. I tried each different way point, line, polygon (treat closed polylines as polygons). I just did this the other day and worked out fine.
At present I am needing to export a large number of ESRI shape files from AC Map 2011 for use in a GIS application. I know that Map 3D has the export features but after completing 50 exports its does get repetitive and is time consuming.
Is there any way of specifying the name or names of the layers you wish to export and apply attributes to them without having to use the Map 3D Export process?
I have a series of polylines with a global width of 5m which I want to export to a polygon shapefile to represent in GIS. I realised if I create a shapefile of the polylines and then create a buffer of 2.5m on either side I can create my desired polygon. My question is how do I export this polygon to a shapefile. I have tried bulk copy but this just seems to revert the buffer back to a polyline shapefile .
Having the following problem when exporting shapefiles in Map2014 or Civil2014. Im able to import but when i go to export it gives me the following error... Export did not succeed.
I've tried the Providers.xml file replacement but that didn't worked.
When I use the command "mkshape" I am getting shape file, but this file i am unable to attach in Arc GIS 9.3..When I export shape file in Arc GIS how to import it in Auto CAD 2012."How to export drawings to shapefile and how to import shape files to drawing file in AutoCad 2012."
As the heading says - my Map 3d 2011 rearranges object data fields upon import. If I open the coverage in ArcMAP they are in one order (the correct order), and importing to Map mixes that order up. I have around 125 object data fields for each of 2700 objects. Even if the capability existed in Map, rearranging back to the proper order "by hand" is not an option. Is there a setting or something I overlooked that will tell Map to import the data fields in the same order that they are in before the import?
C3D 2012 on 64bit Win 7 all up to date Dell Precision 7core 8GB RAM NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M LDT/C3D user since release 12
I recently upgraded from LT2013 to LT2014. I never had any issues with 2013, but now seem to be battling with 2014. My OS is Windows 7 Home edition.
When selecting an object and then clicking the properties menu, the properties of the selected object are not displayed, but instead the properties of the selected layer are shown.
In the attached screenshot:
1) My active layer is "AM_VIEWS".
2) The layer of the object that is selected is "MEDIUM".
3) The properties dialog box shows the properties of my active layer and not the selected object.
I am therefore unable to override any settings of the selected object and manually change settings e.g. Linetype, Linetype scale etc.
How can to export my SDF file to ESRI Shape file? In AutoCAD Map menu have a commands, but those works only for drawing objects. Have any way to export SDF to Shape?
I want to align an object (i.e a rectangle) for example to be in possition x:15cm and y:12,5cm but concerning the edge of the rectangle (or the right/left side of the rectangle) and NOT the center of it.
How to customize the properties of the alignment???
Is it possible to export MTEXT alignment (top left, middle center, etc) to a GIS format such as SDF or SHP? I'm able to export MTEXT correctly, but alwaus without the alignment, which is pretty important in my case.
I've tried with FME with limited success. I was able to retrieve text alignment, but each MTEXT carriage return was considered a new feature. That means if I have a 4 line MTEXT, this will create 4 points in a SHP or SDF.
We have a total of three machine at our office that are running 64-bit Windows 7 with Civil 3D 2013. Two of the three machines have problems with drawings that include AECC_Contours. When you try and start a polyline or line the mouse will begin to jump and lag. As you move the cursor off of the AECC_Contours the mouse returns to normal operation. I have looked around throughout forms and have yet to find anything that relates to this. Also I have disable Aero within Windows, thinking that may have been the issue. All three machines are running the same version of Civil 3D with the latest service pack.
Occassionally the object properties in my object manager will dissappear and I am unable to bring them back. I have tried toggling all the buttons on the manager, restarting corel, resetting corel to it's default settings and restarting my computer but nothing will bring back the properties. It does not happen on every single file but it happens often enough to be a pain. I have attached a picture of what the object manager looks like.
I have started having issues when creating alignments from objects.
I am building roads from plans for setout on site, I receive 2d linework and need to build the 3d road up. I join the required linework into a polyline so I can make a few checks that the lengths and so on are correct before I continue. Then usually I would just go and make an alignment from the polyline.
e.g. Monday I was setting up 3 intersections and dealing with 6 kerb returns on there. The first 2 created correctly, then when I created the 3rd one I couldn't see it. Then when I did zoom extents it was way off to the left and a mirror of the linework I was trying to create it from. It did it to a further 2 of them and the other 2 came out correctly.
Now it is doing to me when trying to create a centreline.
I have received a Civil file with AECC Labels (they are Contour numbers) and I'm trying to either explode them or convert them to text objects in order to print.
For some reason, when I explode them they disappear completely and I have to undo 3-4X to get them back, undoing previous commands in the process. I can't seem to edit them otherwise. The reason I'm exploding them is because CAD is not seeing these objects when plotting.
Any lisp routine or how to convert or modify AECC Labels?
I was trying to export my alignment, at certain intervals, to excel (or text) as xyz data. I tried searching and found... Alignment to xyz
But it didn't really work. I can export the XY but not the Z in the report manager.
So my questions are.... How can I create a new report to incorporate the Z? Or is there another way to do it?
I should add I also tried the "Incremental Stationing Reporting" from the Profiles Report... However it doesn't recognize the profiles I've created? I get the "No FG profiles in....." even though there are?
I have a data grid view with all alignments included in the drawing file. If I choose an alignment in data grid view, I have Id of that alignment.
I have a button, and I would like that if i press that button then selects that alignment in the drawing(graphic). I would like that there was only one object selected, and if there are more selected objects before, then un-selected them.
When i am creating alignment from object(six 2D polylines) it convert first poly line only to alignment.orther polylines show as a alignment ,but can't label or create profile.
