View 1 RepliesI re-opened a drawing this morning and found some text to be different height from the rest. When I attempted to adjust all of the heights to be the same using the properties method, they all became bigger. Instead of all of them going to 6", the 5" text went to 6" and the 6" text went to 7-3/16". So, I checked the formatting size and the properties size and they did not match. See PDF.
deleting the larger inconsistent text?
I have a drawing which has hundreds of levels on and i'm trying to establish what the MEAN level is and the AVERAGE level. I thought the best way might be to extract the text to excel and perform it there but at the moment the only way i can do it is to copy and paste the text and its taking me forever. Is there a way to either a) extract text to excel or b) calculate a MEAN value based on texted selected?
View 2 Replies View Related(Again) The “leader” of the “dimension text” disappears when the text is moved! Why?
I’m wondering why the “leader” of the “dimension text” disappears when the text is moved.
How can I control this setting?
I need to show this “leader” all the time. Is that possible?
Please, have a look on the screenshots below (the file is attached).
Is it possible to create a field that will show only a portion of the contents within an text object? Maybe using diesel or something?
Example:
There is a text object that contains "FIRST TEST", is it possible to create a field from that object that contains the first 5 letters of the text "FIRST". If the original text was changed to "SECOND TEST" the field would be updated "SECON"
I wonder if it is possible to create a new text style where one can set the text to be already rotated.
I know that it is possible to rotate text in many ways but the styles always seem to be set on the horizontal to begin with.
C3D 2012
Win 7 64 i5
8GB RAM Quadro FX 1800
I know I can rotate text with the rotate command or from the properties palette, but if I'm editing text and the text formatting toolbar is displayed, why don't I have the ability to modify the rotation right there? How do I get it there? Can I customize this toolbar?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have this strange situation.. i use the Arial font inside my cad drawings and when i print my paperspace layout, the text inside the viewport is a little bit more "bold" then the text i put directly on paper space.
Maybe it's a trick to know what text is placed where, but i want all this to be uniform, same thickness. Is there a system variable to correct that issue?
See the image below: It's a 400 DPI scan from an impression i did.
Up to COUPE C1 is the text inside the viewport, under COUPE C1is the paperspace text. Both are the same height... but difference tickness.
Ok, I'm sure there is a very simple way to fix this that I just haven't yet discovered. When I insert a stacked dimension in the top line of my leader text, the spacing gets automatically adjusted for the hight of the stacked dimension and it adjusts the leader line up so that it actually passes through my top line. Can this be avoided? I have attached a picture for reference.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have run into a situation where one of our files in AutoCAD 2012 has been sent to a client and the client cannot see any of the text on the drawing. The client is using AutoCAD 2011 MEP E49.0.0. I haven't heard of this problem before.

View 7 Replies View RelatedA file created over a year ago (I believe with AutoCAD 2010) is needing to be updated. I have AutoCAD 2012 and when I open it there is no text in my Paper Space. However, if my manager is to open the same exact file with his AutoCAD 2012 he can clearly see all of the text is still in place. Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed that may be making the text not show up? All layers are on and visible.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI do not need a solid fill text, only a black outline. Is there an easy way to do this without going into MS Word (which I still don't fully understand). I have also tried using the TXTEXP command. This does the job, however, I am left with small lines that I need to clean up. This is pain because I will be needing to use outlined text for a variety of things. I would relly prefer a text style that is only an outline, is this possible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have big problem with Text in AutoCAD drawings. Text is missing and I can't write in new drawings as well. We have different systems xp x 64, xp x84 , windiows 7 x64 and windows 7 x 84. Different AutoCAD’s: 2010 2011,2012 and the same problem. The problem occurs in many files, so not only in this one. When text bloc don’t work it showing every time, when we want to write, on down ribbon “** Undefined symbol 101 and 102 ...” . When we want to open stiles for text AutoCAD Mechanical have critical error: “Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at e0533c85h” and closed. We have different computers with different graphical cards. We installed already SP 2 for 2012 and other versions are too upgraded. It looks like this problem isn’t connected with hardware. We are using local licenses. You can see this problem on attached pictures.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have turned off or unchecked "Extend leader to text" (Multileader Style > Modify > Content > Extend leader to text) in all my templates.
Yet, when I start a new drawing using those templates, that feature is turned on (checked) again.
I've tested this several times. Yes, I'm using the same templates I've been saving. I've even created a new template from scratch with none of our standards in it. The check for Extend leader to text keeps returning.
I've tried this in both AutoCAD and Civil 3d.
Any way to duplicate this?

I'm trying to write an automated script that will clean up some drawings for me. I've figured most of it out, just need a command that will let me select all the text and mtext that is a certain style. Then need to be able to select all text on certain layers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a problem with AutoCAD R2011. The drafter made a rectangle, put some M Text in it, and when he looked at the layout the text does not show up. It's on a visible layer, and when he takes some existing text and sticks it in the rectangle, it works fine. We are just using "MatchProp" to work around the problem. Is there a way to "globally" set the text properties of the drawing to those of a particular instance of text?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using MEP 2011 and have started a new project. Having gone to use the above tool, i am getting no text for the dimension nor the customary arrows at each end of the duct piece i am measuring.
I have attached a small jpeg to illustrate. The dimension is the green line.
I am really confused on an Annotative Text style issue. I have a blank drawing and i need to set up an annotative text, dimension and multileader style. So i started with the Text Style.
Now i would like the annotative text size to be 2mm, Arial standard. However whenever i try to do this, it changes my 2mm to 3mm which is not what i am after.
Is there some limitation to the font or is this AutoCAD error or am i just trying to do something odd.
I need to create blocks in which the same text appears twice. I've created an invisible attribute to hold the text and created two mtext object containing fields that point to the attribute value.
The text fields show the default value of my attribute but will not change when the attribute is set on an placed instance. After setting the attribute on an instance I've tried UPDATEFIELD and REGEN but still I see the default value.
I've got a problem with a title panel that we've created. We're using a new type font - VAGRounded-Thin - however when in paper space and we zoom in and out the text font enlarges or reduces as we scroll in and out with the mouse wheel. It's still coming out fine when printed [pdf and hardcopy] it's just on the screen.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have some custom texts that I use. A week or two ago they started showing up looking different and certain symbols like ' weren't showing correctly (they were displaying ? instead).
When I went into Text Style, sure enough the style being used was pointing to a file that either didn't exist or wasn't the proper format. An example is that my HS text was pointing to the Font Name HS.TTF instead of Helvetica 53 Extended which is installed as one of my Windows Fonts. When I changed the Font Name to Helvetica 53 Extended everything looked okay again.
My problem is that even after hitting apply to this change and closing the Text Style form when I open a new drawing HS text is set back to HS.TTF and not displaying properly. How do I go about permanently changing this value back to what it should be, and how did it get changed in the first place?
My drawing looks weired. Some texts in model space I can see, but in paper space can not see them. I checke layer and elevation level..., but just couldn't find out. I set different UCS and views in this drawing.
