AutoCAD LT :: 2012 Slows After Continued Usage?
Oct 14, 2011
I am having a problem with Autocad 2012 LT. It typically runs fine, but after using it for an extended period of time with multiple projects open, it becomes painfully slow to perform basic tasks like copying objects, opening projects, and saving projects. Restarting AutoCAD does not fix the problem, however, restarting my computer does fix the problem. I just don't want to be continually restarting my computer as on average I need to do this 3-4 times per day at work.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac12,2
Processor: i5-2500S CPU @ 2.7 GHz (4CPUs)

I,m running 2012 LT. Whenever I go to select a point on a region or move an object to a regions vicinity the computer hangs. Exploding the region relieves the problem. Large drawings or anything else don't seem to cause a problem.

I have an Excel file linked to a Table which has 3,400 lines. When the Table is unbroken a File Save takes 30 seconds. When the Table is broken it takes 30 Minutes to save. Makes the breaking feature for large table unusable.Â

I'm working on a rather large subdivision (not uncommon, certainly used to a longer-than-normal load time) but have found one of our XREF files to be bringing drawing loads to a screeching halt. We have XLOADCTL set to 2, which explains the creation of the temporary file.
I have previously gone into the file and reset the scale list, which speed things up by about 50%, but today it appears to be doing the same thing.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from becoming a more serious problem? Can I add some sort of SCALELISTEDIT reset command to the acaddoc.lsp file?

With the command window displayed at the bottom of the screen, everything slows down. The cursor momentarily freezes and it takes a second or two for commands to be fulfilled. Also, the command window is about 7 lines high; in the past, I have shrunk it to maybe 3 or 4 lines but I cannot shrink this wndow.Â
Then, when I push control-9 and the window disappears, everything speeds up to normal!Â
I tried turning off my internet connection and my McAfee Viruscan as well. Running without the command window makes it hard to draft. Since I type shortcuts, I figure I must have hit the wrong key and unleashed something unspeakably terrible.
I am running AutoCAD version 10 on my PC, with Windows XP Professional.

I have a plug-in developed with the ObjectARX SDK, C#, VS2010 and the Autodesk supplied template. The plug-in is loaded into AutoCAD at start-up via a registry entry.
The plug-in is to be distributed privately and will not be submitted to the 'Marketplace' supplied by Autodesk for AutoCAD products.
I've noticed that there is a section on the AutoDesk website with regards to registering a custom prefix via the RDS scheme [URL]......
Currently we have code within the following areas:
Â
Class Namespaces e.g. "MyNamespace.Utility"FunctionsCustom Commands e.g. "DEBUGDATA"
Based on the current implementation and intended usage/distribution method is symbol registration required? I ask as I am not sure what would happen if another plug-in used by the user has a "DEBUGDATA" command.
If symbol registration is required could you provide a clear example of how developer symbols should be implemented within the code?

I have a data-linked table (from an Excel 2007 file, 32-bit) in an Autocad 2010 drawing (64-bit, Windows 7 OS).
If the table is displayed as a single column, with table breaks off, the file will save within seconds.
If I enable table breaks, it will take at least 3-5 minutes for the drawing file to save.
I am unable to find any solution. I've tried using different table styles, different linked files/drawings, saving locally vs. on the network, headers and titles repeating vs not. The slowness is a major productivity killer.

when ever I bring a clip into the timeline and play it as a "Clip" the sound is fine. When I play it as a "project" the video plays normal but the sound is slowed way down out of sync. This problem carries over to the burned DVD also.

My system is a powerful quadcore box with 8 GB of RAM and approx 300 GB of scratch disk - all running on Vista x64.

I have a scene (original Sketchup > 3ds > max) with 100's of thousands of objects. About 60 odd materials. Due to mapping being specific I'm manually converting the standard materials to VRay Materials (latest vray 2.3) - Yes I'm NOT using the VRayScene Converter in this case. Even with ALL OBJECTS HIDDEN, after I get to like the 10th or 11th subobject material, max just suddenly slows down to a crawl. Just to change a colour swatch (not even a bitmap) takes sometimes like 2 minutes or longer for max to respond. I thought maybe it's an UNDO issue so I set UNDO levels to just 1. This didn't work. With Nitrous, I have viewport progressive refinement switched OFF. I tried switching to OpenGL and the viewports are actually MUCH more responsive in wireframe. In OpenGL it seems to last longer before the slowdowns start again. I'm not even at the render stage yet.
I'm on Win7 64bit with 16GB Ram. i7 2600k and 2 X SSD in raid 0. I have an ATI 6990 4GB with the lastest drivers (Catalyst 12.6). Max has the latest update3 installed.

i want to use pictures with my forms and was wondering if i can use them like the way i showed in attached image.
the CaseA image is the one i can currently use and CaseB is the way i want to use. My reason to do this is, i have alot of parameters to change and having both the picture and a menu below/above takes alot of space which also seems redundant.

I made a drawing, inserted a base view and selected an ipart member, in the Model State tab of the Drawing View dialog box.
Now i made a change in the model, one that is enabbled in the ipart member, one that i should see in the drawing, but i don't see the change. the drawing represents the part as i inserted it at first.
Now i found a workaround, i edited the view, chose the active member, which is the previosly selected member, now it updated, but the center lines became pink. now i changed back to the firstly selected member and it updated, but i am sure there is a better way

In C# I noticed that when I loop through the LayerTableRecords in the LayerTable some of the layers in the drawing do not show up. If I look at the layers in the UI it shows the missing layers with a grey icon for their status while the ones that it does detect have a blue icon for their status. The status has to do with which layers that the drawing believes are in use. In the UI you can press a refresh button and this will fix the problem. I want to know how I can fix this through the .NET API, COM API, or command line.

Have been using ACA 2013 all last week (normally do most of my work with Revit) and this time its been used intensively since install. I noticed that Autdesk 360 was doing allot of syncing. Drawings are open all of the time so the syncing activity is continuous. Then I found that over the last week broadband useage generally is clocking up to 11Gb per day (I get 60 per month), other browsers were slow and I think I have traced the problem to Autodesk 360 - it stoppped as soon as I disconnected from the cloud. It seems there is a huge amount of up and down stream data - turn 360 back on and the router lights start flashing furoiously. The cloud storage is less than 1Gb.

When Saving an animated GIF in Photoshop CS3 the animated frames slow when viewed after the save. Therefore any gradient fades etc seem to stutter, about 25% slower than the frame rate set initially.
When the animation is played in photoshop it plays at the right speed, only slows when viewing the file after saving...

If I have Curve Editor open and I playback my animation (fairly complex character) by clicking "Play Animation" button, animation won't run smoothly.
Curve Editor Open (minimized and or maximized) = 6 fps
Curve Editor Open while dragging time slider manually = 15 fps
Curve Editor Closed = 28 fps
Also if I have "Statistics" info shown (shortcut 7) to see fps, it will slow playback about 40% more.
Would be nice to have some sort of fix on these As an animator having to close Curve Editor all the time is annoying.
3ds max 2012 was great leap towards better and faster experience, but there are still tons of old bugs and "still not working very well", like random numbers in reaction manager, or having different keyboard shortcuts for Edit Poly modifier or Editable Poly mesh (please combine). Graphite Modeling Tools was good addition, but would be nice to have it integrated completely with tools found in Edit Poly modifier and Editable Poly. Chamfer also needs upgrading, it still doesn't work very well with more complex places.

I'm currently using AutoCad 2013 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X230 with windows 7 64 bit. I have 8 gb of ram and a core I7 processor which seem up to the task for the rather small files I create. My issue is that whenever I initiate the mtext command or attempt to edit an mtext object, my cpu usage will jump from about 0 to 4% up to 20 to 30% and will stay at that level until I close the drawing. This causes the fans to run constantly and makes working a little more jumpy. I've tried removing AutoCad completely and reinstlling. I've tried loading up AutoCAd 2014 (and subsequently removing it) and now I'm back to AutoCad 2013 and the problem persists.Â
I'm assuming it has something to do with the computer or some other software that is running in the background. It's odd that it would only affect this one command. The computer is only 1 month old and I've done the hardware checks that Lenovo offers (no problems indicated).Â

I'll start off will some system specs:
Â
i5 m450 @ 2.40ghz
win7
4gb memory
approx 200 gb of free hd space
Â
running pse8 with approx 39,000 images, very small amount of video clips.
Â
people recognition and auto analyze are turned off.
Â
The issue is that when adding tags and captioning to multiple files the application slows down and sometimes freezes for short amount of time.
Â
Would installing additional ram totaling 8gb useful or does ram play any role in the performance of the application?

Lightroom 4.3 runs smoothly if I work on unmodified images.
Â
However, if I apply modifications on an image, retouching it afterwards becomes much slower, even if I render a preview AFTER I made modifications on the image.
Â
I tell you an example: I import a raw file to the program and I render it`s preview. Then I retouch the image - it works very fast, no waiting time, no Loading overlay.Where the problem starts: I import a raw file, I apply some modifications on it (for example a preset), then I render it`s preview - then I want to do more modifications on the image, which becomes very slow.
Â
I was monitoring the cpu usage of the computer. In the first case, the cpu usage during modifying the image is normal. In the second case, it goes up to 100%. It seems that applying modifications on an image makes working on it slow, no matter if you have the most up-to-date preview or not.

I recently purchased Corel VideoStudio X4. I installed SP1 and SP2. I am facing very long delays in a project with 1080p files. The slowness only comes when Smart sounds track is added. If I delete it, everything is back to normal. I have tried rebuilding the index for Smart sounds Quick tracks but the problem persists.

I've installed Illustrator CS6 recently and found the behavior of panning with the scroll wheel annoying. When I have low zoom values (e.g. 75%) the scroll wheel lets me pan U-D, L-R at normal speed, but if I zoom in (200% and up), the panning slows to a point where it is unusable at 600% and up. I use [Shift] to speed it up but at high zoom levels it's not enough. This wasn't the case for Illustrator CS5 or 5.5 where panning with the scroll wheel worked at the same speed at any zoom level.

I'm using Win 7 64bit and CS6 64bit.
Â
However, when I do some heavy editing, like anything that takes a few minutes of CPU processing, I tend to look at the task manager only to find that 4 cores are utilizing 50% at max thus taking longer to compute the results.
Â
Is there a way to maximize CPU usage by Photoshop? I would like it to use 100% when performing tasks to speed up process time. Is there a windows plug in?
