AutoCAD Inventor :: Valid Selection Made In UI
Sep 9, 2013I am looking for a way to have the ok and apply button gray out until there is a valid selection made in the UI. How can we control if those 2 buttons are active or not?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI transfer my adjustments from lightroom to photoshop for additional editing. The adjustments show in the new Photoshop file. However, when I make a selection from that file and copy and paste it into a different Ps file, it does not show the adjustments. I even tryed saving the adjusted photoshop file as a jpeg and then opening it up and reselecting what I want.....Copy and paste it.....and the adjustments still don't appear on the different Ps file/photo. How can I keep the adjustments made in lightroom as a selection to copy and paste to a new file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMaking a part that will have the size as an option to pick. Issue is Ilogic does not like it. I have a list that has sizes like:
3" X 2"

4" X 4"
But when I put in the code
If Plate_Size = "3" X 2"" ThenParameter("Dim_X") = 3Parameter("Dim_Y") = 2Parameter("Foot_Code") = "A"ElseIf Plate_Size = "4" X 2"" Then Parameter ("Dim_ X") = 4Parameter("Dim_Y") = 2Parameter("Foot_Code") = "B"End If it gives me an error

I'm getting a strange error with my iLogic code running parameters in my assembly. When I have one "if....then..." my rule runs fine. Even two statements work. But for some reason when I get to a certain number of statement I get an error: I've attached some sample code and snapshots of my error screens.

Is using nullptr (instead of NULL) valid in an Inventor Addin?

I'm trying to install the latest Inventor View on all of the computers at work and keep getting this error. The program installs fine, opens fine, but I can't set it as a default program to open .IDW, .IPT, and .IAM files. When I do I end up with the error "not a valid win32 application".
The computers are running the 32-bit version of XP, and Inventor View 2012 works fine on all of them (after doing the DtDv install trick).
Also, while we are talking about Inventor View, is there ANY reason at all why it isn't combined with TrueView??? Seems like such a hassle to have two programs doing basically the same thing, with TrueView being MUCH more functional.
Why does this code fragment not work? (Within an active part sketch, with some sketched geometry.)
I'm just trying to close the loops to have valid extrusion profiles.

I have a flexible sub-assembly in my top assembly. Sometiems I'm trying to demonstrate to others how a mechanism in the sub-assembly works using this flexibility feature. It works great, but when I move just one little part of a flexible assembly, Inventor displays the wire-mesh of the entire flexible assembly, because technically the entire assembly is selected, even though I'm only moving one part. It clutters up the screen very badly, detracting from what I'm trying to show.
Is there a way to prevent Inventor from displaying the selection lines? Either only when I'm moving a part in a flexible assembly (which would be great), or to just turn them off completely when I'm presenting like this? I know I can turn off pre-select, but that doesn't work, because once I start moving a part in the flexible assembly, the assembly is "selected" and the wire-mesh displays.
I have created city/landscape artwork using photoshop line and box tools. If you go to URL... then click on the link that says (click here to view Gotham City) you will see one of the images I am talking about. Can this image be made to look the same in vector.

I have an assembly that changes daily and drawings made at each step of the way using .dwg format. The problem is, that when I add something to the assembly, it addes it to the drawings already made and as a result losses dims and notes that I made. Is there a way to set the dwgs so that all new items added to the model automaticly are no visible in the drawings that were already created. I spend a lot of time changing old drawing to what they used to be.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm editing someone's 2d inventor dwg, and want to show a part behind an object in the section that isn't currently showing (the part I want to show is on the model, in the appropriate level of detail referenced by the 2d view.)
I believe that the author turned the line visibility off. Is there a way to turn all line visibility back on in a 2d view?
How do you separate two objects that are considered to be the same body.
I have an car airbox made up of two separate solid objects. How can I separate them? see the attached image for a better understanding of my situation.
I want to create frame made out of structural steel. In order to do that Invwentor is giving me no option but to make Layout Sketch (any other way?), which then i should use for inserting members. Now, when i want to creat layout it does not give me an option of assigning it to a work planes i created. It always sketches it in default XY plane. I need to create 3D layout that will follow several work planes i created. I tried selecting any of the other work planes before clicking on layout button but no luck.

The need for a way to get a rebar schedule made referencing my Inventor parts. Like to know if you can create your concrete walls, slabs, beams etc... and either place rebar in these Inventor files and then create some type of rebar schedule (table?) or something. Or take the concrete walls, slabs, beams etc... and import into another Autodesk product like Revit and have this create the schedules and then export back to Inventor. Is any of this been done or possible? Want Inventor to have the end product.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using the "Make components" feature to convert solid bodies into parts. This works great, but we use this method to construct angular roof structures, and after the parts have been made the parts have angular relationships to the .ipt files UCS co-ordinates. It would be very useful if I could align the longest edge of the part (Which is a timber truss) with the x axis in the model space and "lay" the plank flat on the X-Y plane.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn autodesk inventor 2013 is there a file format (for example .igs, stl, solid works format, catia, pro/E format, etc) that when imported into inventor will appear with its detailed history tree? for example if I try to import a solid works part into inventor 2013 will it appear as one block or will it have its history tree showing the original sketch and other features that were used to make it? If all imported parts will appear as blocks in inventor 2013 regardless of there format, does this latest version of the software have tools similar to direct modeling software (such as KeyCreator) that make it easy to make changes to the 3D imported part, without having to completely remake the part in inventor? Are such tools in the inventor fusion 2013 software instead?

View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically we have a number of different procedures that need to be written in each drawing. Each drawing uses one of 5 or so procedures. Usually we type it out every time which is a pain or copy paste. We also tried making word documents and inserting them that way but it got a little buggy. Is there any way to have 5 or so pre made text blocks to pick which to insert onto different types of drawings but that can be global used across a few systems?
We have a small group of workers all on the vault server. Basically I just want to be able to have a finished drawing. Click something that will open a list of my pre made text blocks, and insert one into the drawing that I can scale etc. We use Inventor 2011.
I am fairly new to Inventor and have recently just finished drawing up a machine made of many parts and sub assemblies and then made into one master assembly. Due to the nature of some hole positions i decided to draw some holes directly on the Master assembly thinking it would then change the original sub assembly/part file. Apparently not as i found out making technical drawings.
How i can rectify this so i dont have to re-draw all the holes on part level and keep my constraints in place?
I'm trying to make a drawing of a assembly, and some of the parts were made in frame generator. When I try to make a section view the parts made in frame generator still show as whole instead of halved. Is there something that I need to toggle or vice versa so that this will not happen anymore?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a student using Inventor 2013 Professional. I'm working on a project for school comparing levees made of different materials. View 4 Replies View RelatedOnes every three years we have an upgrade of Inventor. In a few months we have an upgrade from Inventor Proffessionel 2009 to Inventor Prof. 2012. Since we often use special materials in our design process we also create/add the new material in the material database. So here's the question; is it possible to copy the material database (special mades) from Inv Pro 2009 to Inv Pro 2012? It would save us a lot of work!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to export from an Inventor .dwg or .idw made up of various views (either made from an Inventor .ipt or .iam) to an AutoCAD 2000 or later .dwg, and have the objects modeled in the Inventor .ipt/.iam that is shown in these views to already be shown as blocked entities when the AutoCAD .dwg is created. Also it is important to have the scale be exactly 1:1 from the Inventor drawing to the AutoCAD drawing that is created, so that no resizing/scaling is necessary. Is it possible to create such an AutoCAD 2D drawing from any release of Inventor and if so, what are the steps/procedure for making it???
I know that the solid model of an .ipt or .iam can be made to show blocked edges that appear as a block so why not two steps further and have this capability translate through to an .ipt or .iam Inventor drawing to a save copy as AutoCAD drawing???
I have attached a simple model to detail what I am having trouble with.
I have constructed a sheet metal tube by first creating a flat sheet face and then by folding the sheet with two, 180 degree bends and large radius. I am doing it this way in order to simplify the drawing of the cutouts that are required in the "real" sheet (with many more cutouts than in the sample I have provided.)
When I try to add work points or work axis to the holes shown in the sample, only the holes on the second bend will accept the work features, the holes on the first bend will not - giving the error:
TEST.ipt: Errors occurred during update Projected loop failed because of multiple vertex solutions Work Point8: Could not build this Point Copy Point Zero or multiple solutions for Point Copy Point. Use Redefine Feature to change its definition.
I am using the work point as reference to the center of the hole in order to position a rod.
I want to create a flat pattern of a sheet metal-part that I've used in an assembly. In this assembly I've made cut-outs in some of the parts (see attached .png). Is it possible to get at flat pattern of the specific parts with the cutouts? I can e-mail a ZIP-file with the assembly (the file was too large too attach).
Running Inventor professional 2013
To create my new part, i used the deriven part of another part, and used only ‘Body as work surface’ before inserting in my new part.
When I create the drawing of my new part, why is it that I still see all the ‘Body work surfaces’ of the direven part?
When I make it on my other computer I dont see it... so it is surely an option…
