I recently started working on Inventor 2013 and I'm trying to copy a drawing view in order to place it on another sheet. Unfortunatly I see no copy option. Am I doing sth wrong or it's due to the changes in the version?
View 7 RepliesLike the title says I am looking to place views (and dimensions) on drawings using ilogic. I am new to both inventor and ilogic, most of my training came in SolidWorks. It needs to pull the part from an ipart that pulls the information from an excel file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYou can't copy a sheet within a drawing to duplicate it. So, as a workaround, I saved a copy of the drawing to a different name and tried to copy a sheet back. Pick the view in the browser, right click, copy. Switch to the original drawing, right click paste in the browser. All I keep getting is an error "Invalid input for Request." I even think I remember getting this error before and finding a way around it.

The second problem is this: I want to create in multiple sheets the same drawing but with small differences. How to copy a drawing from a sheet to another sheet. I press right click on the first sheet and i press Copy but there's no Paste button.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with drawings that are based on files that have been replaced by new files of the exact same name but have been created from importing an completely different model as the base file. (not copied from originals, so not common 'objects')
I would like a workflow where I deferred updates on the drawing file before opening it.Open the drawing.Then run a vba script on the drawing file that would disassociate/orphan all annotations attached to the drawing views.I would then turn updates back on and set to work on reattaching each of the annotations.
There is no possibility of auto-reattaching that I know of because of the files being created from importing a third party model into inventor as the solid for the drawing's views.
Is there a way to incude the sheet number that a drawing view has been moved to? I have an elevation tag that shows the view identifier, I am looking to have the sheet number referenced where I show "Field Text-Manual" in the attachments below. I am using inventor 2014.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having some issues with sheetset. The pdf name is name of the drawing + name of layout.
1. The sheet sets do not follow the order of the drawings layouts
2. The list is not according to the drawings order in the directory
3. The sheets are automatically combined when I want them to be separate
4. There are numbers 1,2,3... automatically prefixed to the sheet causing additional trouble.
Every now and then I'll have a sheet that will not accept placement of another model view from the sheet set manager. (There are usually two or more model views already on the layout). Every attempt will cause AutoCAD to crash. I run recover and audit and the problem persists.
Today I did something differently. I added a new layout, and successfully placed the model view on that layout (I accepted the condition that the layout was not part of a sheet set). Then I went back to the layout I really wanted the model view on and was able to place it without any problem. The significant difference I can see is that I usually have only one layout (I typically delete layouts I don't use which leaves only one layout). It seems to me that having one layout and only one layout while attempting to place a model view on it could very well be the cause of this random crash problem. I have not been able to confirm this yet but the next time I crash trying to place a model view, the first thing I will try is to add a new layout.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI´m designing a sheet, but I've been running into some issues. First of all, I have some symbols on my view to describe some elements. I've been trying to add them to the sheet in a description table but I can´t copy them...is this possible or I would have to draw them again. Here is where I ran into another issue, cause those symbols are made with some styles of line that are not uploaded on my sheet, I went to Manage -> Additional Settings -> Line Styles and defined the new lines, but when I draw'em I can´t choose the new style, only the ones previously uploaded..

This file was originally created in IV2009 I've had no problems then or with the various conversions of it.
It seems to be memory related so here's the sitrep as for memory 8GB DDR2 RAM, and Virtual Memory set at min of 8192MB and a Max of 16384MB, I did have it set a systems managed but that gave a warning of low virtual memory with almost every drawing file that I opened.
I'm working in ancient Inventor 2009 and I'm using view representations for all of my .ipn levels. I've accidentally skipped one step and would like to put it in the middle of the others. Is there a way to re-organize the representations. I've attached a picture. I need to insert a representation above the check marked one.

We have a lot of times where we place an assembly view to drive the title block and then place the child components for detailing. Too many time the assembly view gets forgotten until you are done detailing the other parts, now instead of the assembly name showing on that sheet it is the first part you inserted. I would like to be able to select a view and tell Inventor that I would like this view to be the first view instead so I don't have to copy and past everything from one sheet to another. I used to have some code that looked at that first view but I can't find it anymore.

It also sets view sizes etc. I have lots of master drawings, which are reused when sizes etc change for a contract, which i would like to transfer to this new template. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard does not offer this function.
I could get all drawings in a folder copied to specific sheet size on the master template.As the template will probably be developed further in the future I'm very loathed to do this take manually.
Is it possible to have the parent view for the section in one drawing and the child views in another drawing?

Then we installed SP1 and now drawing views are disappearing, however when we select "shaded" view the view reappears and works perfectly..

Each time when I place a part in base view, have to follow few steps; go through view label, format Text, than choose type option - [Properties-Model] and its property - [Part Number], than placing dimensions. it takes long time and very repetitive, especially, when placing a hundreds of parts and I was wondering if there is an option, to set up view label; [Properties - Model ]& [Part number], as a DEFAULT. So, each time placing a part, in base view it will come up with correct label. Also, overall dimensions, can it be retrieve using parameters of the part?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAny time I click on "Create 2D sketch" when editing a part in place in an assembly, the view moves to an isometric view. It happens as soon as I click on the button. Is there any way to stop this happening?
This does not happen when I'm editing a part (.ipt) on its own. I'm aware of the "Look at sketch plane on sketch creation" issue: this is not the same thing since it happens as soon as I click on the button, i.e. before I actually create the sketch.
I want the view to remain as it was before I click the button, to keep the things I'm looking at in view.
I am generating a drawing file in inventor.its having lot of sections and projected views. Its not able to accommodate all the views in one sheet. So my plan is to move the section views to second sheet or third sheet but section cutting line has to be in first sheet plan view.

I was curious, when creating multi sheet drawings, how can I place different information in the title block on each drawing?
Example, 2 pages, Description on page 1 = PAGE 1 DESC, by default this same description will show up on all subsequent pages. How do I get page 2 description to be different?
