I have been working on some spec sheets and, ideally, would like the text size larger to improve readability. When creating text, changing the size is as easy as editing the text and changing the size. With a dimension, however, that method doesn't work. Is there an easy way to change a dimension's text size without having to make a change in the styles??

the default has changed for some reason (i might have accidentally changed it while looking for something the other day) but i need to know how to change it back.. I can't do anything without a dimension getting in the way!
How do you change the dimension text size in an .idw 2D drawing? The dimension text and arrowhead size is too small and I would like to make it sligthly larger.

The number for the height that I changed stays saved however the actual text height on the drawing does not, not even after I tell it to update.

I am using annotative dimensions and when I use normal dimensions the text comes out correct at 3/32" but when I use aligned dimensions the text height is 1/8". How do I fix this?

I go into dimension style manager, I click on modify and I click on the text tab but the text height and fraction height scale is greyed out!
If I click on "new" dimension style the only option I get is to base it off my current dimension style with the text size greyed out again.
How to change the text size of dimensions if at the option is greyed out?

I have the fill color turned on in my dimension style to background. I want to adjust the "masking" box size. Just as you are able to in the text edit-background mask. I believe the default must be 1.25 larger than the text. I would like it to be 1.00. Is this possible? You can adjust the text background mask size, but not the dimension mask size.

All my models for our library items are entirely controlled by Excel sheets and the names of the parameters are often quite lengthy. Issue I'm having is that when placed on a standard lettersize page, the dimensions are too hard to read. I've tried editing the size by double clicking the dimension & editing the font. Basically when I create a new route and populate the route, I want to be able to change the size without adding hundreds of sizes to the library. So I right click on the tube and select change size. The when I select a different size and select apply nothing happens? I push update and still nothing happens?
When I try to change the tubing size again it shows the size that I change it to but the tube doesn't visually change? I have noticed the same with the hose. What I also noticed is when you change the size on pipes it does change. How it is possible to change the piping sizes by right clicking on it and select change size when this function doesn't seem to work on the tube and hose?
I just download the AutoDesk Inventor 2012 but I didn't use this software before. I just download an example and refer youtube to create my own parts. But when I place all parts together, i.e. assemble all parts, I find that the parts are not looks good because the size either too big or too small. I try the whole afternoon but I still can't find the way to change the size of an individual component.

It's the same with text. If I type a name that needs to fit a certain area, I type in the size for the width and it doesn't change.
How do you add text before a dimension in the idw environment? For example, I have a dimension that shows 40".... I want to add text before it to say something like.... " 8 Spaces at 5" = 40" ".... The 40 would be the default dimension value, everything else I want to add to the dimension... I have added tons of text information behind default dimension values, this is the first time I need to add the text before the value and cannot figure out how to get it to work...

I am having a problem with cutting the size of text that I want. On the main working screen I type in the specific dimensions of the text that I want to cut ( I have a graphtec cutter). When I pull up "Cut/Plot" in the dialog box under Job Size....the size is NEVER what I have specified. It is normally smaller.I will then type the dimensions into the Job Size field and cut the letter. BUT when I cut the letter......it is not the size I typed into the job size.

I am working with a template, that doesn't allow me to change the dimension style. In the project the Use Style Library is set to Read/Write. I have created my dimension style, at this point just a copy of the ANSI standard with a text size difference. I went to my template and set that syle as my default, and saved it. Now the fact that it doesn't automatically update the drawing I had alreadycreated is a nuisance, however if I creat a new drawing, the style has reverted to a different standard, that is not even the ANSI default. If I right click a dimension and change the dimstyle to what I saved it does update, but if I try to change the style again it defaults to a random dimstyle, AND changes the style even if I hit cancel. So... the question is how to make the changes stick?
