AutoCAD Inventor :: Constrain User Defined Symbols Within Drawing
Oct 11, 2012I have created various symbols to be placed into drawings when required, rather than having to re-create the same sketch every time the drawing is produced.
When I place the symbol I am given the option to select where to insert it, based on the insertion point. The problem is... once the symbol is placed there is no way (that I can figure out) to constrain to the view or dimension to it.

Nov 19, 2013I currently set up out civil 3d to do auto linework, which went really smooth.The first issue is with my points. When I go to Import Survey Data to insert the points and do auto linework, it doesn't insert the points in the right location (nothing is .86 off and easting is 1.36 off on every point). But if i were to insert the points by going to Points and clicking Import, they are right on? second, who do I get symbols to automatically come in when I insert the points? (power poles, hydrants, inlets, etc.).

Dec 31, 2011I recently had to reformat a hard drive and reinstall everything.
I have a bunch of custom made symbols that I use often and for some reason, when using the Symbols Manager docker, they are no longer showing up in the Local Symbols>User Symbols folder in that docker as they used to.
The old hard drive had XP Pro on it but this new one has Windows 7 Pro on it. I am aware of the path changes made in Windows 7 and swear I have the custom symbols located in the correct directory.
I am using X4 version 14.0.0.567
I have them placed in the following directory:
C:UsersAdministratorAppDataRoamingCorelCorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4User Symbols
When I attempt to create a new Symbol, it saves the new symbol file in the directory above and when I go to that directory, I can see all of my custom Symbols. They just are not showing up in Draw X4 for some reason even though they are there.

Paint.NET :: Insert Symbols And Special Characters (R)(T)(C)
Sep 6, 2005Its seems important to be able to insert and use special characters in text, as much of the graphics from Paint.net are used on web pages, etc.
When I try to cut & paste text with special chacters it substitutes things like â for ®.
Or did I overlook this feature?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Transition From Single User / Desktop Content To Two User / Vault?
May 7, 2013After getting Vault installed on our server and successfully setting up users and connections, I used the Library Transfer Guide to move our Content Center (including custom) to the Vault. I then changed the Inventor Application Options -> Content Center -> Access Options to Autodesk Vault Server.
This seems to have worked, as I can Place from Content Center when in an assembly, and it is pulling standard content as well as our custom files properly from the vault. Â However, in the instructions that I used for the installlation, it was suggested to stick with a standard folder structure within the Vault, namely two Library Folders named 'Content Center Files' and 'Libraries' and also a regular folder named 'Designs'.
 I created those folders prior to transferring the library, as I thought they would be populated with the standard/custom content. This was not the case and I am curious when these folders come into play? *they are empty*
Also, today I will be attempting to 'Check In' a project to the Vault that I recently completed; does this usually maintain structural relationships between files?
Would you recommend using a single project structure in vault for two people? It seems, since we won't be working on the same project at the same time, having a single project would not be relavant to our situation..

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Insert And Change User Defined Parameters From Excel-text File
Oct 6, 2012But I was wondering if it is possible to contol the insertion of dynamic blocks and it user definerable parameters from a excel-text file.
I am surveying a section of pipework and I need to display the brackets that are supporting the pipes. As there are numerous pipes on top of each other I have decided to show the brackets in plan and isometric view.
I think I have made the dynamic block ok and have numerous stretch/move and scale parameters working correctly.
But the only way that I can see of chaging these parameters at the momment is by manually typing them in the properties tool pallete for each individual block.
So I was thinking that if I can store the correct values that I need for each parameter in the dynamic block on our data logger along with the correct E,N,Z insertion point is it possible for this file to change the parameters in the dynamic block for example, If I have the correct insertion point stored and then have 10 parameters stored with that point for simplicity I store as A=5.00,B=8.00,C=0.100 etc and these correspond with the parameters in the dynamic block will this file be able to alter the  dynamic block as the values in the excel/Text file are displayed.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Thread Class On External Custom Threads Won't Show In Callout
May 2, 2012I can't tell if this is a bug or a "feature."
I have created a custom thread.xls table so that thread callouts are in decimal format per ASME B1.1.
When I use the Hole / Thread feature note in an .idw, the thread class will not show on an external thread. If I change the format to not use Custom Thread Designation, the thread class appears. If I use the Custom Thread Designation on a threaded hole, everything works fine.

Jan 16, 2012We are using Inventor 2012 professional, 2 seats. When we create a .dwg or .dwf file and dimension our parts the Diameter and Angle symbols print as the letter 'P".
The symbols show on the screen correctly, but do not print?

Jun 24, 2013I want to replace view labels in drawings with sketch symbols to get a different appearance to my drawings. (As far as i know it is not possible to change the appearance of the standard view label.)Â See attached snap of my desired view label.
I have used i logic on several occasions successfully but im not experienced at all. Â The way I see this working is for a sketch symbol to be inserted below a view when it is created,the standard view label being omitted & the Scale/Name/Sheet details linking to the sketch symbol through parameters.

I am able to add the parameter to change the visible size of th fillet and groove welds but am unable to have the weld symbols update to show the parameter value. Nov 18, 2007I am having a small issue with getting the correct text from a sketched symbol in an IDW. I can populate the dialog box OK when i hard code the Sketched Symbol definition. The issue i have is the sketched symbol may have been inserted 3, 5 or more times and i need to extract the text from the last inserted definition. So by setting a simple counter i can count how many time the Sketched Symbol has been inserted and then by running the code below i can read the text.

May 29, 2013At my office we create drawings with lots of added text and sketched symbols usually along the extension line of a dimension.  Currently we have to place the symbol then edit the rotation to make it parallel to the dim line. How to make the sketched symbol automatically orientate itself correctly?
Take this one step further, some ilogic that would automatically add the correct symbol to the dim line based on the feature? Â For example, when we place a dim on the face of a flange, have the F.O.F. text automatically inserted on the dim line? Â Or if you dim to a 2" pipe have the 2" CL symbol add automatically?
AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Position Sketched Symbols
Jul 19, 2012I have a lot of small parts to generate and I need to put them on A0 sheets. I have created customer borders (4 pane, 6 pane & so on), so that I can place multiple parts on one sheet.
I have several bits of information that is unique to each part, but must be indicated, so I have created sketched symbols that has model properties in. Effectively each pane on the sheet has it's own "mini title block" that displays the information unique to each part.
I also have assemblies, so therefore I need to display the BOM. I find that the BOM for the assembly "snaps" neatly into the corner of each pane, but I don't seem to be able to get the same effect with the sketched symbols. The positioning of the sketched symbols look "tatty" and once it has a leader attached (which I switch to not visible), the sketch symbol seems to snap to some sort of invisible grid.
Ultimately, I will be delivering the drawings in AutoCAD format so it will be possible to zoom up and see these mis-alignments very clearly. That makes things look very unprofessional.
Any way to position the sketched symbols neatly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Creating Intelligent Sketched Symbols
Feb 1, 2012I am currently working on creating new symbols. Now I want to keep the look of the symbol (see attached) but I want all the text to be automated as the text is currently "prompted entry".
Now when I go into the edit the text within the symbol sketch, I need the "view label properties" from the drop down menu but its not there! Is there a way that I can get the "view label properties" into the drop down menu??? What I am after is to attach this symbol to a view and the symbol will automatically show the name of the view and the scale.
OR........ If there is any way that I can get default view label to look like my symbol?

Oct 5, 2012I have several sketched symbols that I use with references to various properties embedded in them. Once of these is a sketch block that picks up the part number, description and so on. In order to get this to work, I place the sketch block and drag the leader to point to the part.
For assemblies the process clearly needs to be different. If I have various parts and assemblies shown on one sheet, how can I use a sketched symbol to pick up the ASSEMBLY number from one of the view.
Parts are fine (as explained above), but when I place a sketched symbol and do not attach the leader it picks up on the part number of the first component / assembly placed on the sheet.
I would like to have a sketched symbol reference a specific assembly, and list all its properties (i.e. part number, description, mass and so on).Â
Is there a way to do this? Please consider there could be more than one view on the sheet that has an assembly (or a part for that matter). I think I am looking for a way to link the sketched symbol to the assembly or specific view.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Dimensions UCS And Sketch Symbols Are All Oversized?
Nov 28, 2011All of a sudden, things in my inventor sketches are approximately double normal size - the UCS symbol, dimensions, constraint symbols. Â The UCS icon stays oversize regardless of the environment.
I went into Application Options, Sketch tab, and changed the Constraint and DOF symbol scale but it has no effect in the sketch environment. Â It's not confined to a single part or assembly and I have not, to my knowledge, changed any Windows or other Inventor setting.
I feel like I've stumbled into the Readers Digest Large Print edition of Inventor. How to control the size of these things?

May 29, 2013I'm trying to create a macro which will attach a custom sketched symbol with a leader to some specific parts in a view. By modifying some sample code I managed to create a macro which will attach the sketched symbol to the currently selected edge (see code below). However I would like to select the view and let the code cycle trough all the parts and check the filename or a custom iProperty. If the filename has a certain pattern or a specific custom iProperty exists it should add the sketched symbol. I don't really see how I should do this, I can get a reference to the selected view and as far as I can see I can use the referencedfiledescripter to open the assembly and cycle through the occurences. However I don't see how I can use this to add the sketched symbol to the occurence in the drawing view.

Apr 1, 2013I have a need to send files saved from Inventor.dwg to AutoCAD.dwg to suppliers, however due to the quantity of files "size", I need to purge them in Autocad before I e-mail. The problem I have is that my template Inventor.dwg is 1 mg due to Sketch Symbols, plus added file size for the views etc. When I get to Autocad to purge them, my Sketch Symbols and Title Block is on the "0" Layer. I have to select everything that is on the "0" Layer and change the layer to a different layer to start a LISP routine that does a, Erase All, Purge All, to get my file size down. I have not found a way to change the layer that Sketch Symbols are created on or reside on by default or Title Block either.
Any way to do this Inside the Sketch Symbols, inside the Title Block, using the styles, anything?
I am just now going through a iLogic course and read that Layers can be hidden. Can iLogic be used to change the layer of "SketchSymbols" or "TitleBlocks" and or used to purge all Sketch Symbols during the SaveAs to Autocad.dwg process?

Nov 2, 2012I was looking to change the fonts in a drawing for the Dimensions and Symbols that might have been inserted in the Dimension text entries.
This can be done manually bu editing the dimentions text after placemement, but I was ooking to set this as a default.. I cannot see where exactly this is controlled in the Styles Manager - I am only able to change the Dimension text font but the diameter symbol font is always on AIGDT.
I was therefore looking for an iLogicvb code that could do the trick, but I am not able to even change the dimension fonts... The code runs with no errors but nothing gets updated in the drawing...
