AutoCAD Inventor :: Using ILogic To Retrieve IProperties Form Model Into Drawing?

Jun 7, 2012

I'm trying to put a little iLogic rule in my drawing template which triggers as soon as the drawing is opened.  The rule asks the user whether the component he's making a drawing of needs to be painted or not.  If it gets painted, the paint area (one side only or both sides) needs to be calculated.  The result of this is then referenced by a text note in the title block.

I can do the radio boxes with the questions, as well as their If loops, but only when I'm in the model.  Due to our, admittedly inefficient workflow, we never have time to specify "minor details" like paint area or spec during modelling, only when we get to drawing level.  I'd like to put the iLogic rule inside the drawing template.  I'm having trouble referencing the iProperties of the model from within the drawing's iLogic interface.

What I have so far is this rule, which I can run inside the model:

'set dummy variable equal to total areatotal_area = iProperties.Area'start radio box with questionsText1 = InputRadioBox("Will this component be painted?", "Yes", "No", Text1, Title := iProperties.Value("Project", "Description"))If Text1 = True ThenText2 = InputRadioBox("How many sides will be painted?", "Both sides", "One side only", Text2, Title := iProperties.Value("Project", "Description"))If Text2 = True TheniProperties.Value("Custom", "Paint Area") = total_areaElseIf Text2 = False TheniProperties.Value("Custom", "Paint Area") = total_area/2End IfElseIf Text1 = False TheniProperties.Value("Custom", "Paint Area") = 0End If

adding a line or two so that I can run the same rule, but from the drawing.

I'm trying to do this with iLogic, and i'm not getting anywhere. What I need, is to be able get to the iProperties of an associated model that is referenced into a drawing file.  I want to make it easier to update the iProperties from the drawing file, without having to open the model file.

my questions are:

3 -  i would like that some of the properties would be transfer to the drawing, like the description and the project (this two are from the part properties.
4 - transfer also for the drawing the custom titles to the custom i properties of the drawing as pre fill in.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Update Drawing Properties From Model IProperties Automatically

Jul 1, 2011

I like to keep the properties of my drawing the same as those of my model. Currently I must remember to hit the "updat copied properties" button in the drawing to discard any old drawing properties and replace them with the properties from the model.

Is there any way to automate this task (perhaps on saving the drawing?) I presume an iLogic rule could be created in the drawing template, just not sure how to go about it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom IProperties Not Updating In Drawing When Update Assembly Model?

Nov 19, 2012

I'm using Inventor 2011 and when I go to change parameters using iLogic in an assembly model, (sometimes it is a component suppression, other times it is an iPart component change) it won't update the associated drawing file. I need to go into the BOM on the drawing and renumber the balloons, or change something else in order for the custom iProperties to update in the drawing template. If I just change the iPart component, then the BOM doesn't need to update making the renumbering of balloons redundant.

I'm using iLogic to update all of the iProperties and component references, then reattach balloons. What I would like to do is automatically update the custom iProperties drawing template fields, and renumber the drawing BOM.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Retrieve IProperties From IDW To IPT

Dec 20, 2013

In the past we filled in our changes, we did on the part, in the iProperties of the IDW. In the IDW we use some Custom iProperties for this. That's not usefull because you want this data in the 3D-model. Now I have written some code to automate this, which works really great. This code works in the IPT as well as the IDW. But what I want to achieve is: When my IPT is the active document, I want to read out the iProperties from the IDW to check if there is already filled some of these properties, because I have to deal with 'old' documents as well.

So my basis question is: How can I read out iProperties from an IDW into the IPT. I have found lots of solutions which go the opposite direction, IPT -> IDW. I want IDW -> IPT.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Set Description In IProperties

I am sure this is extremely simple to do but I am missing something. I am wanting to set the Description of a part in the Iproperties using values from the parameters. For instance, if the part has a length value of 10 and a width value of 5 I want the Description to say: 10 x 5 Floor Sheet

I cannot figure out how to extract the parameter values and place them into the iproperties. Here is what I have tried: iProperties.Value("Project", "Description")=" =<Length> x <Width> Floor Sheet"... This gives me the following result in my description:  x  Floor Sheet

AutoCAD Inventor :: Using ILogic To Fill Out IProperties

My goal is to use basic ilogic to fill in some of the standard iproperty fields from parameters.I have so far managed to populate the description iproperty with one value from the parameters using this ilogic code;

iProperties.Value("Project","Description") = length

where length is a user parameter.Want I would like to do is build on this to include more parameters such as material thickness, width and depth etc so the resulting iproperty description field would read something like

1.2mm SS 50x100 @3000

How do I go about writing the ilogic string to include multiple values and end up filling in the one description field?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Retrieve SketchedSymbol Position In IDW - ILogic

Jun 10, 2013

Some months ago I created an iLogic code that creates all my notes that I use in my drawings, linked to a form. A good tool the made my work a little easy. Now I wanna make an update on it.

In my code I create a sketchedSymbol and then some textBoxes with my notes, but before that I erase all the Symbols in all sheets and then the main Symbol itself. Then I create again the symbol and textBox in a specific point of my Sheet. So, everytime that I need to update my Notes, it goes to that point of the sheet, it's not a problem, but it's annoying have to move them always to the correct place.  And i  can't use a specific final point for the notes because it may change according to the drawing.

So, my idea is:

If the Symbol is already created, how can I get its position ?

I create the points with TransientGemometry and then CreatePoint2D, but I dont know how to retrieve these points, even if that is possible.

The code I use is that below (I just erase the notes because it was too big, this is just the main code creating the stuffs).

' Set a reference to the drawing document. ' This assumes a drawing document is active. Dim oDrawDoc As DrawingDocument oDrawDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument'Update the document oDrawDoc.Update'apaga o symbol existente em cada sheet Dim oSheets

AutoCAD Inventor :: Populate IProperties From Excel Using ILogic

Jun 27, 2011

I am trying to use an iLogic rule to populate iProperties (some generic, some custom) from a part number spreadsheet (containing columns such as PART NUMBER, DESCRIPTION, FINISH etc) and the rule keeps throwing up the following error 'Conversion from string "" to type 'Double' is not valid.'

Here’s part of the code (would be extended for the required custom iproperties but I’m assuming the same principle is ok)

StartRule:
'read excel file
GoExcel.Open("C:DESIGNDocumentsEXCEL FILESPART NUMBERS", "PARTS")
'index row 3 through 10000
For rowPN = 3 To 10000
'find first empty cell in PART NUMBER column (Column A)
 If (GoExcel.CellValue("A" & rowPN) = "") Then
[code]...

Changing the format of the excel data (number or text) has no effect. Is manipulation of the format required so that Inventor can read text and numbers to iProperties in this way?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Read / Retrieve Information From MS Access Database Using ILogic

Nov 9, 2012

I am currently trying to retrieve data from a MS Access Database, we currently have iProperties with number values in them. An outside programmer created a code which takes these values and exports them to an MS Access Database, where they are then translated to mean something.

Instead of exporting those numbers, I want to use them to find what they ACTUALLY mean within the database and bring that information back into iLogic. (ie. 123456 actually means "1/4 Flat Bar Steel")

In short, I wish to access the MS Access database through iLogic in order to read information from it.

I have searched for the better part of 3 hours but have not found a good answer or example code of this situation. I am not that experienced in programming, but have worked with the API before for developing Automated Drawings and have an understanding how to navigate through. If there were to be some example code, I can begin to understand the process quite well through this method as well by seeing how to go about coding this.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Changes Custom IProperties Type From Number To Text

Nov 2, 2011

I am having problems with some custom iProperties I have created that are of the type 'number' and are initially set to 0 (zero). After the iLogic rule has run and the user has entered a numeric value the type of the custom iproperty has changed to 'text'.

The ilogic code I am using is:

 If iProperties.Value("Custom", "Nominal ID") = 0 Then
iProperties.Value("Custom", "Nominal ID") = InputBox("Enter The Nominal ID (Enter 0 if no value is available)", "Nominal ID", 0)
    Custom_iProp_Nom_ID = iProperties.Value("Custom", "Nominal ID")

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Update Form

Sep 13, 2013

I´m having a bit of an issue with a form.

I have a global form which is exactly made for a specific assembly for configuration of this very assembly. To make things easier for the user I call another external rule which only opens exactly this assembly.

Now when the user opens the form the assembly is not open and obviously can´t reference the used parameters.

Even after loading the assembly the parameters are not available, which results in something like this:

So this is a really simple question, is there a way to update a form so that it rereads the parameters from the assembly?

What I tried is using iLogicForm.CloseGlobal("Name of form") to no availability and then open it again with iLogicForm.ShowGlobal("Name of form").

But I couldn´t find any further info on the iLogicForm Commands.
