AutoCAD Inventor :: Reusing Custom Sheet Format

Aug 20, 2013

Im trying to get a sheet format to save and stay in the sheet format folder under drawing resources for every drawing i make. i've watched videos and read books and searched on here but just couldn't find the right fix.

i have made the title block, border, and sheet size. named them and  saved them. while its open everything is where it should be, then if i open a new sheet it is not in the list of sheet formats to pick from .

AutoCAD Inventor :: Reusing Parts And Assemblies

Mar 19, 2013

I'm working on a project with three small and very similar vessels. I'm done with the first vessel and I want to re-use this assembly when I start to design the next one. But vessel number two will require some changes to the parts (nozzle location and so on)

My question is, how do I re-use my assemblies and parts so that I can make changes to them without it affecting my original parts and assemblies?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Reusing Frame Generator Assemblies?

Dec 6, 2013

what is the best way to reuse a "frame generator" assembly within the same project workspace?

Current Method:I commonly use frame generator to create structural assemblies. Sometimes I need several assemblies with only slight changes. Currently I just copy the frame members folder, assembly and skeleton and rename them, but the frame member parts are still doubled up.

Question:Is there an easier way to copy frame generator assemblies as a whole new assembly?

In the parameters window you can right click a value and choose a custom property format.

We always change everything to fraactional instead of decimal.

Is there a way to set this as default?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Sheet Size Using ILogic

Jan 15, 2013

I made a form that allows the user to enter in a custom sheet size.  Using the API I am changing the Drawing Sheet Size Enumerator to the Custom Sheet size which allows the user to enter in custom values.  That part is all working fine.  My problem is that when a custom size is used in my title block it says that the size is "Custom Size (mm)".  I know that the API uses cm for the sheet size units so I have the code convert the values into cm.

In the sheet settings window built into inventor it has the option for Custom Size (inches) and Custom Size (mm).  How do I change whether it is inches or mm?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Change Custom Property Format From Assembly Level

Apr 8, 2013

I have a frame fabrication / assembly with a Custom iProperty called "FINISHED MATERIAL SIZE". I have set the following parameter for this property:

FINISHED MATERIAL SIZE = <Stock Number> x <G_L>mm

This returns the stock size and length to my drawing cutlist. The problem is that the <G_L> Parameter returns the trailing zeros and unit string.

I would like to set all the frame members in the assembly such that the G_L parameter returns a value rounded off to 0 decimal places with no trailing zeros and removes the unit string as well.

Is there a way I can achieve this from the assembly so I don't have to manually open each frame member and make the changes in the fx parameters dialog one at a time?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sheet Metal Extents - Custom Props

Apr 24, 2012

When I first upgraded to Inventor 2012 from Inventor 2010, I found that Inventor automatically created and populated three custom iProperties in the sheet metal environment.  The props contained information for sheet metal style and sheet metal extents (width and length).

With a fresh installation, Inventor does not seem to be creating the custom props any more.  Did I miss a setting or has the feature been discontinued already?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Sheet Formats In Drawing Resources Without Using Blocks

Feb 14, 2013

I am attempting to create a series of drawing templates in Inventor 2013.

I have successfully created four unique Sheet Formats with Border, Title Blocks, Revision Table, and text populated by iProperties.

I have a bunch of text that I want to have inside a square on the first page of a series of drawings. I draw the square in sketch mode, Create Sheet Format, and the sketch ends up as a separate AutoCAD Block ("SheetTemplates_XXX_Sketch1") rather than in the Sheet Format. I can place the block on the new sheet, but it can be placed anywhere as the block floats.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Custom Sheet Set Fields?

I have a call out block that I am trying to link to my custom fields in my sheet set manager.  When I put the block into paper space the fields fill in properly and if I make changes to the field in the SSM then the block updates properly.  If I insert the block into model space the fields come in as if they are broken and you cannot reference the data in the SSM.  The issue is that I don't want to do my annotation in paperspace, so is there a way to change the interaction between my block with the custom fields and the SSM.

AutoCad :: Creating Custom Sheet Set Template

Jul 2, 2012

What I am trying to do is create a custom sheetset template that will have ALL my sheets embedded, that way all my notes, details and sheets will always be ready. I would just need to update some text and details from time to time.

These are the steps that I have taken

Created a new sheetset and called it Sheetset Template
In this sheetset template, I created all my sheets and inserted notes/details.

At this point I thought all I would need to do is copy the sheetset file and all by sheets would get copied too, but that was not the case, just the sheetset file was copied and I have to create all the sheets again.

AutoCad :: Sheet Set Manager And Custom Properties

Nov 7, 2013

I have a SSM set up with both Sheet Custom Properties and Sheet Set Custom Properties.

When I start a new project, i can populate both areas of the main SSM. I'll create my sheets and have them self populated by the "root" SSM settings (if you will)well now, lets say i need to change the date of the sheets from the past.. to the future submittal date. I set it in the "Sheet Custom Properties" in the "root" SSM and then I have to go to each sheet; right click --> Properties each sheet and change the custom properties.

Basically, is there a way to have the sheets (after created) to automatically update to the new date?

How do you set an object's annotation, say a line, to display a line's angle or bearing precision to the nearest 20th second.

Kinda like this for decimals:
0.000
0.00
0.0
But for degrees minutes seconds.

Also, I will require the seconds to hide if the nearest 20th second was a 00. I also need a leading zero for minutes if the minutes was under 10 minutes.

AutoCAD .NET :: Sheet Set Custom Property Field TransmittalSetups?

Dec 12, 2012

The SheetSetObject has an inbuilt custom property called "TransmittalSetups", but the property has a different internal object structure compared to other CustomProperty

Ie:
Dim myPropEnum As IAcSmEnumProperty = myCPB.GetPropertyEnumerator
Dim myPropName As String = Nothing
Dim myPropValue As AcSmCustomPropertyValue = Nothing

myPropEnum.Next(myPropName, myPropValue)
myPropName is a string, and in this instance it returns a value of "TransmittalSetups"

myPropValue.GetValue is a string, and it says "System.__ComObject" not a "value".

So my question is, how do identify this object, how to interigate it or assign it to its native object type.

I have tried to cast it to different IAcSmEnum types but without success.
