AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Rule To Print String To Parts List?

Mar 5, 2013

I am trying to make an iLogic rule that gets mutliple strings from different places, and prints them to a user property in the Parts List.

My ultimate goal is to print the drawing number, sheet number and the item column value to the user property with the format being...

"XXXXX-X-X"

So far, i can get the drawing number from an iProperty and the sheet number easily. But im getting stumped on obtaining the item coloum value and printing it to the same row.

This is what i have so far...

Dim DWGNUM As String = iProperties.Value("custom", "DWG Number")
SheetNumber = Mid(ThisDoc.Document.ActiveSheet.Name, InStr(1, ThisDoc.Document.ActiveSheet.Name, ":") + 1)
MessageBox.Show(DWGNUM+"-"+SheetNumber, "DXF Number")

And print the message box output to a column in the parts list

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Page Orientation Different Between Version 2012 And 2013

Sep 24, 2013

Copied the printer configuration (pc3 and pmp) from AutoCAD 2013 to AutoCAD 2012. Plot the same drawing with that same printer configuration. With AutoCAD 2013, it plots out fine - page orientation landscape. In 2012, it plots out wrong. The orientation of the drawing is correct, but the paper is changed to portrait?

The plot setting are exactly the same in both versions.

Photoshop :: Print Orientation In CS6

Jun 22, 2012

I upgraded from elements to CS6, but in print dialogue box I cant see a way to change orientation of the image independent of paper orientation, (not just the paper orientation which i keep portrait), so for landscape printing  i have to rotate the image 90 degrees then go to print, in elements i could rotate the image while leaving paper set to portrait.

Lightroom :: Can't Print In Proper Orientation

Jun 17, 2012

I cannot print in proper orientation. I have Rotate to Fit turned on in the print module. I tried both orientations under Page Setup. Doesn't even work in Photoshop. Not all photos, just this one. Very frustrating.

I have Auto Rotate turned on in my Canon 7D. I was shooting nearly straight up for this image. But, it's a horizontal image, not vertical.

Also, I exported the original to a TIFF file, from Lightroom, and opened in Photoshop. Doesn't matter. Same problem. Is it the photo information or Lightroom or the way it was imported?

Perhaps it was captured as a vertical instead of a horizontal. I think I rotated it in the Develop module. What does any of this matter anyway? Shouldn't I be able to print what I see on the screen?

Lightroom :: 4.1 Orientation Wrong In Print Module?

Jul 25, 2012

I am trying to print a landscape oriented image. I choose an 11 x 17 paper size (entered as a custom size) to accommodate the print.

In Page Setup I choose landscape mode. On screen the paper is landscape but the image is vertical. When I choose vertical mode, the paper is vertical but the image is horizontal.

I try to switch width and height in Manage Custom Sizes but it only makes the opposite happen from the above scenario.

When I print, the paper is vertical with half the image printed horizontal.

AutoCAD Inventor :: First Sketch Orientation

Jun 10, 2013

Why is it when I select the Top (XZ Plane) does the sketch orient itself so TOP is read upside down? Subsequent Sketches on a TOP face yields expected results.

And it is also true that it if I select Right (XY) the sketch orients itself so RIGHT reads top to bottom? and if I rotate the cube orientation so TOP is truly on top, the Constrain Axis' are off by 90º? yet if I subsequently select the RIGHT face for a sketch, it yields expected results (RIGHT reads from left to right).

This cannot be the way it is supposed to be. it although has been this way for may versions.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Cutting Slots And Maintaining Orientation

I need to cut slots in a circular pattern around a flange ring, but I also need the slots to maintain their orientation so the slots are straight.

What I am atempting is to create a shim that once cut can be slid between 2 flange rings and not have to take the bolts all the way out.

I attached a pic of what I am trying to do.  The slot has to stay in that orientation, yet patterned around the circle.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Solid Body Made Components Orientation

May 8, 2013

I'm currently using the "Make components" feature to convert solid bodies into parts. This works great, but we use this method to construct angular roof structures, and after the parts have been made the parts have angular relationships to the .ipt files UCS co-ordinates. It would be very useful if I could align the longest edge of the part (Which is a timber truss) with the x axis in the model space and "lay" the plank flat on the X-Y plane.

When I read in this file: [URL]

It states:

Tip To reset orientation of a drawing view, change the view orientation or rotate the view.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sketch Orientation / Can't Dimension To Any Existing Vertices Or Edges

Feb 16, 2009

Why the heck does Inventor arbitrarily orient sketches as it sees fit? I often create my first sketch on the right (YZ) plane and Inventor, stupidly turns the sketch where "RIGHT" in the viewcube reads from top to bottom.

I know all the things to do to AFTER this happens, but it shouldn't happen in the first place. If I turn my sketch so that up is up, like it should be, I then have to remember that vertical is horizontal, which is now vertical. I can't change the sketch coordinate system. It's the first sketch and there is nothing to align it to.

How to prevent the above example from occurring in the first place.

This, and the fact that I can't dimension to any existing vertices or edges without projecting them first, really make me hate using Inventor sometimes. To me, these are huge problems, neither of which Solidworks has. At worst, both of these behaviors should be configurable.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Circular Component Pattern And Maintain Orientation

Oct 4, 2012

my create a circular pattern in an assembly that maintains the orientation of the part being patterned.

This is for foundation plates. There are 3 plates. The plates are square, and have bolt holes in the corners of the plates. Since there are 3 plates and its going around a circle, the angle between the plates is 120 degrees.

Now, Ive been trying this for some time now and what is happening is the firs plate is fine, but then the second and third plate are rotated around their center axis. I would like it to simply remain as inserted and constrained within the assembly.

I have attached a picture to be more clear about what I want and what I'm currently getting.

The other is from only Pressing the "Go to Flat Pattern" Button and being in "Flat Pattern" viewing mode (Note the Cube)

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Design Copy - Error Copying A File / Inventor Crashes

Nov 5, 2013

I'm trying to use iLogic Design Copy to copy an assembly and all its associated parts to another directory. The assembly contains content center parts. Inventor warns me that the destination file of one of the CC parts (and 18 others) will be overwritten. When I go ahead and copy anyway, the copying process stops at that specific CC part. The Design Copy Progress dialog box states there is an error copying that CC part. When I close the Design Copy Progress dialog box, Inventor crashes.

The error copying the CC part: I'm allowed to use content center parts in iLogic Design Copied stuff, right? I searched some related topics and I'm under the impression that Inventor keeps the CC parts in its own directory and shouldn't be trying to overwrite them.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Min Or Max?

Nov 13, 2013

I am doing a tie rod the issue I have is when the length is between 2.001 and 2.250 we would drill thru all but only tap the ends .750 deep. If the part is 2.000 would would drill and tap thru in one step and not have to rotate the part in the lathe.

How do I get ilogic to understand if my number is between this 2.001 and 2.250 to lengthen the drill length parameter?Or add a mid plane cut? ( trying now code below reflects this try)

Not sure what way I want yet but I just can't seem to find a snippet or code to do this. I tried to add a list in the parameters for it to read but seems to do nothing.
