I do not use Mental Ray at all. I am not interested in it. Ideally, I would uninstall all Mental Ray plugins but unfortunately, it seems Mental Ray classes are required by Substance.
I would love to have Preferences->mental ray-> Enable mental ray Extensions switched off by default. Unfortunately, I am unable to get this!
I have a MaxStart.max file with my basic VRay settings, VrayPhysicalCamera, Vray sun and sky system already in place. This is how I would like to start my each and every new Max scene. Unfortunately, regardless my settings, each time I restart Max, these bloody "mental ray extensions" are on again and again.
Is there any method to keep them off efficiently? So this does not return anymore?
I'm having a problem to the viewing panel that cant preview dual view when I switch to Src-Seq.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhenever I do pretty much anything (eg. when applying any of the Illustrator Effects) in Illustrator, to have to turn on the 'Preview' checkbox every time. Obviously I want to see a preview of what I'm doing. I can't find anything in the preferences to fix this - is there any way of making preview ON by default? I guess this is a relic of the ancient core of Illustrator, when adding something like a soft shadow would make those Macintosh Classics grind to a halt.
Unfortunately this is one of those impossible-to-Google questions - any permutation of "illustrator", "preview", "default" gives me thousands of unrealted search results!
Is there a way we can keep the "Preview" mode activated by default when applying new styles, etc.? I hate always having to click the "Preview" button. Of course I want to see what it looks like before applying the effect!!!

I'm not sure if it is ok to use iLogic for this purpose because I'm afraid my drawings will update to the simple' or 'FEA' versions. This is not what I want. And when using the 'FEA' version, will the FEA information get lost when I switch back to the 'full' or 'simple' versions?
Or in other words: Is it wise to use iLogic for this purpose?

My system is setup to use different projects and vaults depending on which department one is working. I have been jumping back and forth and was trying to find a macro to quickly switch projects, log out of the current vault, and log back into a different vault. I have minimal experience with macros and none with macros in Inventor . I am using Inventor 2009.

However, when a user tries to remotely connect the machine with the switch enabled, using Windows RDC, they are unable to. After removing the switch, the user is able to remote successfully. Other forums suggested that the "SessionImageSpace" in the registry needed to be edited to allow for the connection, but that did not work for me.

We are looking to switch from SW to Autodesk in order to utilize advanced surfacing in Alias, and its interoperability with Inventor. However, we need to continue to perform Kinimatic linkage studies as well using Inventor. I need to make sure we can perform the same calculations with ease before making the switch.
At this point I am trying to mimic in Inventor the kinimatic studies I perform in SW. In SW I would perform these studies within a single part file, using a single sketch only (no solid parts). Within this part file I would break up the total "travel" of the linkage into configurations that are driven by a "Design Table". The Design Table would be used for both the main driving value, and for any driven values I wanted to use for analysis.
I am trying to find a way to get the same driven variables written to an Excel file to use for analysis using Inventor.
As a test example:
I would like to drive one variable(Damper Length) to get ~20 different iParts, each with the linkage moved to a new point within its set range of motion. I then would like to write several Driven variables(Displacement_1-3 shown in "RULE CODE" attachement) from each iPart instance to an Excel file.
I have been able to get my 20 iParts and the linkage to move accordingly(iPART INSTANCES attachement), but I have not figured out how to write the driven data to excel for each iPart instance(20 rows of data, 3 columns). I have only been able to write the dimesions for one row of data...whichever iPart is currently open.
with the necessary iLogic code or another solution? It seems like this should be pretty straight forward. Do I need to be using the "ChangeRow" iPart Snippet?
I have a user that is trying to link a MS Word document to a .iam file.
When he attempts to do this Inventor will embed the file instead of linking it.
Is it a config setting?
Here are the steps he is using for this process:
1) Open an assembly into the Inventor workspace.
2) Go to "Manage" tab.
3) Click "Insert Object" link in ribbon.
4) Select "Create from File."
5) Browse for word document.
6) Checkmark "Link" option.
7) Hit "OK."
The result of this sequence of operations produces an "embedded" file, not a linked file.
I can link this file on any other computer except this workstation.
Any settings where you can switch on/off the selection filter popup? Mine is just gone. Under application options I don't see anything to do with switching it off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI prepare graphics mostly for print, so I like to turn on the Proof Colors view and Overprint Preview views. It's a pain to turn these on for each document. Is there a way to make these the default viewing settings in Illustrator CS6?
I tried creating an action to do it, but the Insert Menu Item command in actions causes Illustrator to crash every time, and the help file seems to say that View commands are unavailable to actions. So I'm not sure if that's a bug. Oddly, Photoshop has the very useful File> Scripts> Script Event Manager that let's me turn on Proof Colors (via an action) whenever a document is opened. It works very well. However, Illustrator does not appear to have these options. I found the View> New View options in Illustrator. They let me create a view that turns on Overprint Preview, but absolutely refuse to turn on Proof Colors. So it's the same number of clicks and pointless.

If there is a way to switch between the eye dropper/brush tool fast.
On Photoshop there the "alt" key but on my mac it really wastes a lot of time for blending colors .
I have created two table rows in an iAssembly that I would like to have a iLogic code written for.
What do I need to use to trigger between these two, when, for instance, a certain numeric value is entered in the parameters? Within the assembly file, when I use the iPart.ChangeRow (or iAssembly.ChangeRow) and put the . I am filename in the first spot, it says it cannot find the file.
This is what I am using, and the error states it cannot find the . i am file I am referencing.
IfParameter("Window_Cutout_Vertical")<=1AndParameter("Window_Cutout_Horizontal")<=1TheniAssembly.ChangeRow("A60_RHR_Door_Assembly.iam", "A60_RHR_Door_Assembly-02")ElseIfParameter("Window_Cutout_Vertical")>1AndParameter("Window_Cutout_Horizontal")>1TheniAssembly.ChangeRow("A60_RHR_Door_Assembly.iam", "A60_RHR_Door_Assembly-01")EndIf
I am trying to switch component rows within my assembly file but can't seem to do so. All of the files are generated, yet and still I am not able to change component rows based on user parameters. Files are attached.
My code is as follow in Ilogic
MultiValue.Setlist("Material", "1", "2")
If Material = "2"
iPart.ChangeRow("RING", "RING-03:1")
End If

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I select Export HTML., and click the Browser preview, Corel Draw X6 selects MS Internet Explore which is not my default Browser.
I've checked Tools | Options and Export HTML, and searched the forums, but can't find out how to default to either Firefox or Chrome.
we just upgraded from X5 to X6, and I was just wondering if there is a way to preview artwork, in the preview pane, using X6, and I am referring to .cdr files not .eps.
Also how do you go about changing the default font when starting a new document?
I use Print Preview in X4 for all printing - great tool.
When I use Print Preview in X6 the print options are not saved when I exit Print Preview to make adjustments.
I make the correction - go back into Print Preview and all options have gone back to default. Is there anyway of correcting this.

I would like a few rules to be triggered once the new drawing template is opened.select sheet size, I have been given a rule that already works, basically the rule selects a border and title block based on sheet size selection.
trigger = iTrigger0iLogicForm.Show("BorderChange", FormMode.Modal)iLogicVb.UpdateWhenDone = TrueIf Parameter("BorderSize") = "A0" Then ActiveSheet.ChangeSize("A0", MoveBorderItems := True)ActiveSheet.TitleBlock = "MJTD A0"ActiveSheet.Border = "MJTD A0.
[code]....
I would also like a rule to let me annotate in metric or imperial. this is where I require assistance. I am not sure the best way to achieve this rule. My programming is very basic.I have found some links here, but I can't seem to make them work in the drawing environment. Also these rules seems to change the units of an already created .ipt.
Rule #1 Link
Rule #2 Link
I am just looking for a rule to select either .in or mm from the styles library(i think) , before I even place a base view. Regardless of the original units used to make the model.
I have a rule in the .idw drawing template, that displays a dialog box asking for the size (A, B, C, D...). Once the size is selected, it displays the appropriate border and title block. There is a small & large title block, so an A or B size gets the small, and a C or larger gets the large. This works great.
My question is, how can I have the appropriately sized Revision Table (small or large), automatically ready for use, based on the drawing size? The (2) Revision Tables are defined in the Styles library.

I have exported a set of IV drawings to DWF format for compatibility in Design Review 2013. It would be nice to be able to preview these DWF files before opening in Design Review as thumbnails similar to thumbnail previews for ACAD drawings.

When I first install Inventor, everything works fine, I can preview the DWG when I import it, choose layers and so on. Then with time, this preview doesn't work and I don't know why nor how to fix this.
I had the problem with 2012, 2013 and now 2014. I installed Inventor from the factory design suite advanced (ultimate) and it worked at the beginning. Now I installed SP1 for Inventor and it doesn't work anymore (I'm not a 100% sure that it's related but it's the latest modification I did).
Now I'm trying to fix this. I uninstalled DWG TrueView 2014 and reinstalled it from the downloaded version (autodesk site). It doesn't work.
I uninstalled vault pro 2014 SP1, then trueview, the design review, reboot, install back vault pro client 2014 then its SP1... still not better, the import window preview is still empty and not showing layers.
As I said it's not the 1st time and it happened on previous versions as well. Is there a solution without uninstalling Inventor ? Anyway I'm afraid that If I uninstall Inventor to install it back, I will encounter the same problem as soon as I will install SP1.
DWG TrueView by itself works fine, I can open my drawings (even Inventor DWG), Autocad Mechanical works fine, everything looks OK but this import thing.
To be complete, here what I have installed from autodesk (and i installed it successively) :
Inventor Pro / MDT / DWG Trueview / AOEM View 2009
Inventor Pro / DWG Trueview 2012
Inventor Pro / ACAD Mecha / Navisworks Manage / DWG Trueview / vault pro client 2013 (FDS)
FDS Ultimate / Vault Pro (server and client) 2014
I just tried in 2009 and 2013 and the import works. Now in Inventor 2014 it tells me that the DWG was created by a more recent version of DWG Trueview and that I can't import it.
In the registry editor, the Inventor current version is still 2009 (it should be 2014). I'll reboot my computer and see if it's better.
I am in the process of making a form that displays the parts to an assembly in a list file. When i click the part, i want to show a preview of that part on the form. What object in the VBA window should i be using? i cant find anything but im sure its a feature that is available
View 1 Replies View RelatedOut of the blue, my IV 2012 has decided to stop showing the preview when applying contraints. I have made no changes to any options or configurations. Preview check box is checked.
I tried unchecking and rechecking it to no avail. Any thoughts on this behavior ?
2nd out of the blue issue - when I insert a part into my assy (part file is in the same folder where the assy file is located) IV decides it needs to create a sub-folder and re-saves that part to the sub-folder. I mean, WTF ? The part file is already there. Why create another version of the part in a sub-folder. And why would it just start to do this out of the blue.
Again, I have made no changes to any configurations, options, settings, templates, etc...
I could not see the preview of the drawing in any document of inventor. The icons shows only a box and not the drawing in miniature. The same happens with all my Autocad drawings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Inventor for a few years now and haven't seen this. It created a base view with green marks and when I go to print it says
"One or more drawing views are currently draft previews. Draft previews differ from final views in quality and may produce visually different results. Would you like to wait for views to update before printing or smash the screen from irritation of having a new roadblock thrown in your way that we make no effort to remove for you? HAHA you ignorant fool you will never learn all the idiosyncrasies of our product".
Which I thought was a bit unnecessary.
It does make some effort actually. It sits there with a progress bar. This drawing is about as simple as I create and it can't get past the progress bar. If I print anyway, there is no line weight. So where is this little switch hidden to turn this off? I've already fiddled with background updates and the sunglasses are not checked and grayed out. I don't know how I never ran across this problem before or what could have changed. Given the performance of my computer, I don't think I need some low grade preview for drawings of this type.
