Jul 16, 2013I am trying to link a Excel spread sheet to an Inventor 2009 part. It worked great on Friday now it is not working. The only thing that changed was that there was a windos update. When it does work I am unable to update any of the parametes that are linked to Excel file as the update button has disappear.

Where does one find the Inventor Sheet Metal Rules excel table for 2012 on a Windows 7 system?
All the documentation says it's located in the Documents and Settings directory, but Windows Vista eliminated that folder and thus it is not in Win7 either.
I can find the SheetMetalRules.xml file, but I need the excel table for modification.

Mar 3, 2012I am linking a model to an excel spreadsheet. Normally you would specify what cell on the first sheet (Sheet1) to start in. I have been told that you can link to other sheets in the workbook as well. Is this possible? I have tried, but have not been successful. If it is possible, how is it done?

I supposed it's because this special character is not in the AIGDT or is in the extended character set wich is not considered in Inventor?

Best way is to have the spreadsheet obviously external of the file.Though now I do not know how to do this in iLogic.And example of what I'm trying to do is, with 3 parameters.

Value "A" and Value "B", these are just read items which when combined will give Value "P" to be imported into the Part file. So need A & B to be read and give the row number for P to be imported.
AutoCad :: Get Numbers From Drawing To Excel-sheet
Apr 18, 2012I've made a big calculation in a Pipe Stress Analysis program and the program has auto created 10 autocad drawings that is used to find points in the system.The problem is that the program has random numbered (with no intelligence) and now I have a big report which for example points at a number some where in the 10 drawings, which is hopeless to find.
Can I somehow:
1. Find all numbers in this drawing.
2. Put them into Excel.
3. Sort them after size.
4. Add an extra column which tells which drawing I can find the number.
5. Last put all the numbers from all the drawing into one Excel sheet and sort them after size, now I have a number index, so I can find which number is in which drawing.
Can Autocad find all numbers in a drawing and let me copy them to Excel for editing?

Oct 28, 2010I want to link an excel sheet with a drawing, so changing the excel changes the drawing.
I used this awesome site to learn about going to Edit->Paste Special->Paste Link->AutoCAD Entities...but I don't have that choice. Just the one that makes the OLE image. While that will work, that is less than ideal. It appears in just normal paste, but not under paste link.

When trying to link to excel file get error "Not Implemented". Have tried the registry 'fix' - does not work. Need to get these links working to drive models. This same Excel version works fine for Solidworks which inks perfectly with no issues whatsoever. Inventor has been a problem for 2011,and now 2012 - still not working.

Dec 2, 2013I would like to know if there is a way to insert drawing no.1 into drawing no.2 (not copy sheets!) so that if I change the drawing no.1, the drawing no.2 (the one that contains no.1) also updates.
That is because I would like to have one part of the drawing that is ''standard'' and multiple drawings that contain this part (so that this part is defined in all drawings but is always the same). Because I don't want to have a separate drawing for the ''standard'' part, but only drawings that contain it.

Dec 4, 2012I am trying to export each sheet in an Excel file to an separateTXT files.
I currently have code to read each cell in a sheet, but unfortunately some of the Excel sheets have in excess of 5000 cells and it is taking too long to read. So I am switching to another method.
The program will check dates of TXT files and XLS file to make sure TXT files are current (if not, open and recreate TXT files).Then read the TXT files (much faster).
Where I am getting stuck is 2 places -
Get the names of each sheet in the excel file (not always a known name)
Save each sheet as separate TXT file.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2012 - Linking Drawing To A Copy
Jun 15, 2012Wondering if it was possible to have a .idw drawing automatically update all its copies with any annotation changes. They would all be linked to the same model and would update if the model was altered, but I need only one master drawing whose annotations can be altered. The copies would be read-only, and would be updated when the master changes. Does Inventor have a function like this that links a drawing to its copies?

Nov 5, 2012I have an assembly drawing made with 2 parts in it. I have the assembly drawing as Sheet 1 and each part also in the file as Sheet 2 and Sheet 3. What I have a problem with is that when I change or update the original files for Sheets 2 and 3 it doesn't update the sheets in the assembly drawing. Is there a way to keep these files connected. I need to have the standard sheets for filing and part designation, but when production call for the assembly to be needed, the assembly (Sheet1) with the Attached part drawings (Sheets 2 & 3) hit the production floor. Without them linked a mistake will be made. There are to many engineers in my department and we all make production changes to parts and if they are not linked bad things will happen. I am just trying this out, we have a lot of assemblies that will be great for the production if I can get all the part and assembly files to work together and print at the same time from on file.
I am using Inventor 2012 if that matters.

This file was originally created in IV2009 I've had no problems then or with the various conversions of it.
It seems to be memory related so here's the sitrep as for memory 8GB DDR2 RAM, and Virtual Memory set at min of 8192MB and a Max of 16384MB, I did have it set a systems managed but that gave a warning of low virtual memory with almost every drawing file that I opened.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Getting Data Correctly From Excel Sheet
Oct 5, 2012I´m having a couple of problems with getting data correctly from an Excel Sheet. I´m using the Excel Sheet to get Data for the Stock Number based on geometry.
First time the Excel File get´s opened it always cannot find the first sheet. I´m using a german Version and Sheet1 is Tabelle1 in german.
It always searches for sheet1 the first time the script runs on a new derived assembly. The second time (on second part) it correctly finds Tabelle1 and reads the correct value.Here is the code I´m using:

And there is another issue which I have solved already but still gives me a bit of a headache. When the userdefined property IdentNr gets written into the part it always defaults to a numerical value, which means that I always get a comma at the end of the Stock Number.

the format is correctly set to Text.I expected that when you read a value from an Excel Cell that the Format of the Cell gives the format of the user defined property. Is that not correct?

I know how to do it for just my single system, but I am wanting to have all the parts and the excel sheet stored in my vault server. Is there anyway to link the parameter list to the excel file stored in the vault or how can I go about having a common file that everybody can access.
What I am worried about is if the excel file is located on my computer and someone tries to open a part on another machine, it will not find the excel parameters and everything crash.

It works on some parts to right click on the folder in the parameters window and then select delete or change start cell, but on others it doesn't work.

Sep 7, 2012How do you embed (not link) an excel spread sheet into my sheet metal template.
The excel file is simple, 2 rows listing the A1=gauge and B1= decimal equivalent.
What I want to do with this is to get the gauge to show up in the iProperties description along with length and width of part. The thing is I need column A to show up in the iProperties (12GA) but column B to be used for the sheet metal default thickness.
I keep getting this error when I run my code.

AutoCAD LT :: Linking Excel And Tables
Aug 1, 2012Well I had a day and a half trying to figure out how to bring Excel data into LT. Again. Here is what I have found out:
Running Excel 2010 I have a xls files (of type '97-2003 xls - file includes VBA). The file spits out a ton of data that I want to put in a schedule in AutoCAD. The schedule format needs to match our standard format - RomanS in white and blue.
If I copy and paste as a link the font remains stuck as Arial (regardless of source font) and can't be relaxed unless you go one cell at a time in the text editor. Also the resultant table size is tiny -
If I save the file to .XLSM (macro enabled '10 excel file) the results are the same. If I save the file to .XLSX ('10 excel file and ditch the VBA project) the results are sublime - the font is ok and I can go back and forth from AutoCAD to my now broken spreadsheet because VBA IS MISSING! The resultant table size is tiny but I can deal. I don't see how AutoCAD can work with xlsx but not xlsm.
I also found that if I save the sheet (values only) as a .csv file I can use that to create a table from file without font overrides screwing everything up.
I'm running AutoCAD LT 32bit on a Win7 32bit OS. My Office version is 2010. I would like to link data to a '97-'03 version of an xls or an xlsm without having the font overridden to Arial.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Imported Excel Sheet Display Half Of Parameters
Jul 18, 2012I'm trying to link an Excel sheet to a new assembly but it is only listing half of the sheet parameters. I have done this before with no issues. I've also imported another sheet and it works fine. I copied and renamed a sheet I know that works deleting the data from it and coping the data I want and I get the same results. This lead me to believe there is something wrong with the sheet. See attached file.

I have several drawing files in DWG. Each DWG has a block placed in a drawing sheet. The block contains attributes which would like to link to an Excel file.
Then if I update the attribute in the drawings this would change the linked attribute in the Excel file, and vice versa.
Note that there are several drawings which I would like to handle in a single Excel file.

Display a label stating the space number and the space name. Is this best done with "Parcels" in Civ3D, or with "Polygons" in Map, or some other way.
