AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Publish Customized Frame Profile To Library
Aug 29, 2012
I created a customized frame profile and want to publish it to the library. However the error message shows that "You d not have a Read/Write library configured......". I went to the project (default project) to change library to "Read/Write" and open the file to publish again. The error message is still the same.
I created an extruded aluminium profile (attached file: Item Profile 8 80x80) which I published into the Content Center. When using this profile in a frame design, and using the Trim To Frame command, the profiles are trimmed at a weird angle (attached pdf file).
I am trying to publish a profile in my library and I can not. The difference I noticed is that now I'm working on sheet metal environment and sometimes it was in part.
In the process get an error stating that there is a point in the design of extrusion ... Only if I can publish my piece is an extrusion?
I am trying to publish a i-part to the library. I follow the process and everything and it is suppose to be successful (see attached). But after that, I can't retrieve this item in the library.
My custom library works fine when I try to insert a part from content center, but when I try to use frame generator my library is not seen. I set the "Standard Organization" and "Standard" family property fields both to "DYNA" hoping that standard would show up in the frame generator "Standard" drop down menu but it doesn't.
I saved a copy of a pipe family to "My Library" and made it an independant family.
I have a bunch of custom shapes I use in the frame generator and I want to transfer them to another computer. Where are these located and how would I transfer them? I'm using Inventor 2012.

I have set up a Custom CC library that contains structural shapes. In the Family Table I have a Stock No column which references the value in my DESIGNATION columnThe Stock No column is mapped to Project.Stock NumberUnder Template Parameter (in Parameter Mapping) I have mapped StockNo to Design Tracking Properties: Stock Number.
When I use Frame Generator to add a structural shape, from my library, the name shown in the Model Browser is formatted as follows (Standard)+(Unique Number) and not (Standard)+(Stock Number)+(Unique Number).
How to get the Stock Number to show in the model Browser. How to get the members name to show, with the correct format, in the Model Browser as this will make identifying members in an assembly easier.
Please see attached for Model Browser pic.

is it possible to add into parts list or into BOM values of frame angles?
Unfortunately, Inventor (I use Inventor 2013) does not offer this property by default in parts list settimgs. There are mass, file name, designer, project, status, vendor etc) but nothing about cut angles...!
P.S. I add JPG file with example that I need to get.
I recently started to publish custom profiles in my Content Center.
What I wanted to do is to add a custom profile to content center and use it in frame generator. The problem is that I want to write in my Stock Number iProperty the Ordering number of the profile type and the generated length. I did everything in the content center publisher, but somehow it dosent work. It always writes my published file length. I can see that Inventor has the tools to do this, but somehow it dosen't work.
At my company we have a custom CC library with custom profiles for use in frage generator. We are having a problem with one of the frames. Everything goes well when the profiles is inserted.
But when I try to "trim to frame" the intersections of two profiles, it does not trim them correctly. It trims them in a 45 degree angle. As you can see on the attached jpg file.I tried everything. Checked the sketch, deleted the profile, republished the part.
I created a custom profile, IS34, and published it successfully as a structural shape for the frame gererator. My problem is I get an error when I try to use the notch command in frame generator between two of these frame members. I have tried creating a custom notch in the profile definition, but this did not work either. I expected one profile to counter-profile the other.
Inventor creates a names to custom library parts based on settings and available parameters.
For all custom libraries I can create file names as I want except profile libraries.
The profile library create file name using Family Name + Stock Number and I did not find the
way to change it. I cannot get rid of that Stock Number in family name in this and other profile libraries. I wish I can use Part Number instead of Stock number in naming as more informative.
To change the file naming I do the following:
Manage - Editor - chose Library - chose family - Family Table - File Naming -
than chose required parameters to be shown as file name (for instance I have
{PARTNUMBER}), than in Map to Inventor Property: - Member.Display.Name
than OK - Refresh - Done.
All custom libraries obeys the file name changing EXCEPT the profile library.
I am trying to publish our Library of blocks to a DWF file to import into DWF reviewer for a symbol library. I have done it fine in the past, but for whatever reason my Publish Options keeps reverting to the default to no include block information which we need to import the symbols properly.
I have tried the pdf and dwfx publish as well and the same thing is occuring. I have also looked at the plotter file and don't see anything that is causing this.
I have profile sheets I set up using our template. If I plot the layouts one at a time. I can see the existing grade line in the plot. If I publish all of the layouts at once. The existing profile doesn't plot.
I've checked the layer freeze setting and made sure there is a defined page setup to use in Publish. It's the same setup they plot individually with. I get the same result if I plot directly to our Toshiba printer or to PDF using the CutePDF driver.
I am having a problem with Inventor Factory Design 2013 holding my settings for style and my customized keyboard shortcuts. Every time I close inventor I have to go back and re-import my settings for idw's and parts.
I'm working on creating a customized content center for my company. I am having a problem with one of the CC parts. My process of operation is as follows. Change project file to default. Make sure Library View is on Merged View. Then I select the part that I need. RC copy to our project file. Revise the Part Numbers to match our part numbers then ok. Go to place in an assembly drawing and as soon as you click on the part Inventor crashes. It seems to be only on particular part. All of the other items I have place (over 50 or more) into our customized content center work fine, but not this one.
It seems that whenever I set a key column to be "Part Number" it crashes. If I have any other key columns selected (minus part number column) it works fine. I've also tried creating my own column that says part number and when that one is selected it still crashes. The part that I am having an issue with is the Slotted Hex Head Machine Screw - Inch. Also we are still running 2010 with service pack 4 I do believe.
I've customized the title-block template by changing a few of the default texts and by adding a graphic image.I know from other post here that when the new template is created and then used the graphic needs to have pointer set etc set a the time of creation of the new template, I've done all that and it works fine.
However there are two points :-
1) When a new drawing created with my template then saved as a IDW is the graphic image then embedded in that IDW or referenced each time the file is opened?
2) If I upload these IDW files, as created as above to a web site or transfer to another machine do I need that template file and image to be on that other machine and/or do I need to upload the template and graphic graphic files with that/those IDW, IPT, IAM files so that when some one else opens these IDW files that graphic is displayed?
Whenever I customize some keyboard commands, they always seem to reset after I close and re-open Inventor. I'm not quite sure how I could be missing something. I've gotten very use to these commands in previous versions. Once I setup my commands, I am able to use them for the session.
I have created Customized Materials in Inventor 2013.When I try to apply customized material to part it is showing different result for Drop Down list and for Material Browser.
1. Picture showing appearance of part for Wood Pine from Material Browser.
2. Same Material I tried from drop down list showing following result (Customized library has checked it is in active form)
I come across this problem from time to time and generally either just ignore it, if the detail is destined for in house manufacture, or alter it in autocad if it's destined for exterior suppliers.
Our guard frames are manufactured from extruded aluminum section (made by a company called palletti) I have when needed created a new frame generator frame member for each new x-section that we wish to use. I then draw a 2d sketch for the base frame skeleton and then a 3d sketch for all the frame work above. This I then use in an assembly to create the framework. This framework assembly then goes into a second assembly where the framework is then adorned with all the accoutrements that make up a guard frame that we can then order as an assembled frame, panels feet, hinges et al.
When placing the views for the detailing of the second assembly sometimes the view will show the wrong length for one or some of the frame members.
;note how the left and right views are different and how some of the frame members are elongated on the lh view.
I'm guessing its because of the home grown frame members but all seems to work well other wise and this only happens infrequently.
