AutoCAD Inventor :: Glass Density Changed In 2013

Nov 28, 2013

In 2013, glass density is 2.18 g/cm^3. But in older versions, we had that as 2.56 g/cm^3 for many years. Google results range between 2.5 to 2.6 g/cm^3. Why 2013 has much lower value?

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic To Override Density?

Jan 14, 2013

I'm driving an Inventor GA using iLogic, within this GA are various guard sub-assemblies........... I designed it so that if the material for the sub assemblies is changed then the sheet thickness is also changed (eg, if alu = 3mm sht, mld stl = 2mm). Look at the attached, the grey parts are, in reality, meshed. However i do not want to create the meshed profiles so can i override the density (x0.7) using iLogic. I could override the mass by adding (0.7 x mass) BUT this does not update if the geometry changes (also driven by the GA.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Display Density Of Materials Assigned To Various Parts In Parts List On Drawing?

Dec 9, 2013

Is there a way to display the density of materials that are assigned to varius parts in the parts list on a drawing?  I don't need the mass of the parts I just need the material density to show up next to their respective parts.

For example, if I have a part with [steel mild] material assinged to it (no matter the size) I need a column in the BOM on the drawing to show: 490.684 lbs/ft^3.  "Worry when there's something to worry about."

However, color at some point changed to grey.

The thing is if I double click on a text it turns to black but after regenall it turns to grey again!

Already did restart and everything. Looks like there is maybe some variable for color control, I don't know.

The solution for this problem is mentioned in the link below but sounds not to be useful:

I got a block that contains an attribute (attached) and created on layer zero while the current annotation scale is 1:100. As this annotation scale is changed (say to 1:200 or 1:50) this block moves from its original place to another one (as shown in the attached screenshots).

3ds Max :: Creating Etched Glass Pattern On Existing Glass Window

Mar 30, 2011

Any way to put a detailed patten into my glass window.

I have created glass with the slate material editor, used specular 100, glossiness 80 in the Blinn dropdown. Ued mental ray. Looks good, very glassy. Now I want to put a pattern on the glass, like a silouette, only that it is also translucent, part of the glass, as though it was an "etched glass" pattern on the glass. Do i make the pattern into some kind of "mask"? and lay it over existing glass?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Glass Transparency In IDW

Sep 24, 2013

I've found a hotfix for 2012 that I've used to solve some issues with tranparent parts in shaded views and that leads to this question.

In an IDW , "non shaded", "hidden lines removed", view are there any tricks for being able to see parts behind a transparent part?

I know I can change the view to display hidden lines and delete what I don't want. This works ok for a small assembly, but for a larger assembly, is not feasible or at least very tedious.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Glass Appearance Not Transparent

Aug 24, 2012

I'm having trouble finding or creating an 'appearance' that actually looks like glass.  Each of the appearances in the Inventor library and Autodesk libraries are milky and not very transparent at all.  I'd like to find or create a material that is almost 100% clear, but reflects the environment.

The transparency slider scales from 0-100% but the results are more like 0-75%.Inventor Studio looks just as bad.I've got to believe that it's not impossible to do without Showcase or 3DS Max.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Glass Panel Simulation

Jan 18, 2013

Let me preface this by saying that we work mostly in the metal fabrication industry dealing with the elastic deformation of plastic materials that are isotropic so this question is a bit above my pay grade here.

Is it possible to simulate the stresses in a piece of glass in a simple beam scenario in Inventor (1/2" x 48" x 130" Tempered Glass)? I have a client that wants me to design a conference room table for him but I am highly uneducated about glass.

Is it possible to simulate? If not, is it possible to "fake" it and get semi-reliable results? We're at the conceptual stage here and we're curious which of our designs have a greater possibility of surviving the design validation process (which will include a glass expert at some point).

AutoCAD Inventor :: Frame Does Not Change When Sketch Is Changed

What I want to do iis when I am changing length of some frame memebers in a sketch, I want frame members to be changed as well.

For example:

From here you see that everything is ok. Frame members are according to the sketch.

But when I am changing the sketch, frame stais as it is on the first picture without any changes. Previously it was changing, but then something happened and it doesn't change anymore.

For me it seems that reference skeleton of a frame is not referenced to the sketch of the frame .ipt.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Run Rule When Sheet Size Is Changed?

Dec 19, 2013

I have created a rule that will replace the border sheet when the sheet size will be changed, so users won't have to do it manually.

The problem is that the rule won't run when the sheet size is changed. I find that events for triggering the rules are rather few under drawing enviroment.

I thought to use "iProperty Change" event, providing I assign the SheetSize to a Custom iProperty, but the iProperty won't update automatically as well.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Measure Or Position Is Changed In The Skeleton

Sep 20, 2012

Is this possible to change?

Everytime a measure or position is changed in the skeleton, the units are reset to "0,123", which gives this many decimals for the parameter in the Bill of materials list and drawing partslist.

Ex.

The column "Dimension" in my BOM. The parameter <Rod_Diameter> is imported:

The rod diameter (4,000 mm from the skeleton) is set to export in the parts parameter list, right clicked and given custom property format to only show "4" instead of "4,000 mm"

It's written as "=Ø<Rod_Diameter>" in the custom property "Dimension" for the part (or in a "Dimension" column in the assembly BOM).

Now it tells "Ø4" in the partslist and bill of material. CORRECT!

But if anything is changed in the skelton, with this or another dimension, this parametric setup is reset to show "Ø4,000 mm" again. Too many decimals for my partslist.

That's the problem. With 100 parts in different subassemblies with 2 to 3 exported parameters in each part, it's a lot of setup to get the automatic dimension text in the partslist from the structured BOM if it does not remember the custom proparty format for the parameters.

Could this be setup in any way so that the part keeps it's formatting. It would save ALOT of time or higher the quality for my automated drawings.

AutoCAD Inventor :: IFeature Punch Tool Name When Feature Name Has Changed

Mar 19, 2013

My company is trying to put some automation together to pull design attributes of parts and assemblies to drive routing creation in the shop.

The issue that we have run into is that for certain ifeatures, we need to gain access to the name (or punch ID) of an ifeature (primarily punch tools).  Pulling the name of the feature that the tool created is relatively easy, but because you are able to change the name of the feature as it appears in the model browser, it isn't the most reliable way to get that information.

We are looking for a way to figure out what the name of the ifeature used to create the feature without referencing the resulting feature's name in the model tree.

I've included an example, and I'm looking for the name of the tool which should be "Ob_750X562".

AutoCad :: Sub-Division And Density Using Offset?

Sep 5, 2012

im stuck on an assignment, below are the instructions.

Row 2: Use L_15:red

- Starting with the right side of row 2, connect midpoints of the cell with a line to form a rotated square dimond (which i did)

- Next offset each visible line segment 8' ft. in all directions till all areas are filled with the pattern trimming and filleting as requred to define each as in row 1.

- The next square in the row, sub-divide the inner square by drawing lines from the midpoints to form an inner sqare, the offset 4'ft. in each direction maintaing the new areas created and fill as before to define the areas. Remember to use the same logic as in row 1, fill all areas defined by red line boundaries.

- the next square in the row sub-divide the inner aware by drawing lines from midpoints to form another inner diamond, then offset 2' ft in each direction as in previous operations.

- continue this logic of sub-division and density till you finish the second row.

- when you finish you should have a row of 5 squares movies from tighter density to lighter density of lines from left to right.

i got past the 2nd cell, sort of stuck on the 3rd, 4th, 5th (going from right to left) how the next three cells would look like (on the second column)
