I'd like to drive the position of workpoints by coordinate values defined in Excel. Inventor allows me to initially create them using values from a linked spreadsheet, however the positions do not change when the spreadsheet is updated. Is there another technique that could do this?
View 1 RepliesI'm doing some work with routed tubing at the moment using the Excel XYZ upload facility with auto-bend enabled and it works great. What I would like to know is if there is a way to edit an individual intersect point after the 3D line has been created? I've tried myself but can only movethe complete line, (all coordinates).
I would also like to know if it is possible to extract all XYZ intersect points back to excel or a table within Inventor so I could use the data with a CNC bending machine? Even displaying all coodrinates on the screen at once would be useful.
A working example would be as follows..., I will upload the customers XYZ data to create a 3D line, modifiy specific intersect points to simplify manufacturing and then extract the new co-ordinates to be used for prototyping purposes.
Ok what I'm tring to do is have a spreadsheet that has a list of prices in it that we could modify if needed for all these parts i'm making. Best way is to have the spreadsheet obviously external of the file.Though now I do not know how to do this in iLogic.And example of what I'm trying to do is, with 3 parameters.

Value "A" and Value "B", these are just read items which when combined will give Value "P" to be imported into the Part file. So need A & B to be read and give the row number for P to be imported.
Here at work we are have one computer that has some user defined coordinate systems on it, and we are needing to place these coordinate system files onto another computer so we can project some of our drawing files correctly.
What do we need to do in order to move these files from one computer to the next? What do we need to export?
I have a Multi-Value Parameter "MV" that I want to populate using a Named Range from an Excel file that is already populating other parameters for the same file.
I currently have the file working by populating "MV" by using the snippet from iLogic below...
MultiValue.List("MV") = GoExcel.CellValues("filename.xls", "Sheet1", "A2", "A10")
The reason I don't like this method is because if ever that range changes... all the iLogic code will have to be updated as well. How to set a Multi-Value Parameter using a Named Range from an Excel file? I assumed the below snippet would work but I am receiving

I'm working in Inventor 2012 and new to VBA and I'm gonna kick myself if there's a really easy answer to this. I've got 120+ WorkPoints on corresponding WorkAxes on an irregular pattern both horizontally and vertically. I'd like to Select all the WorkPoints and add a mate Imate then all the work axis and add an insert imate to ease placement of a part at each location within an assembly (this scenario crops up quite often).
I've been trying to use AddMateiMateDefinition but it doesn't seem to let me pass a WorkPoint to it, is it possible?
This doesn't work:

I have a problem setting sysvar like SNAPBASE, which requires 2d point or 3d point. I always get wrong input for the following lines.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow can I drive parts from an assembly level without using Excel spreadsheets. I know it is possible using iLogic to do it, but I can't figure out how to do it "automatically".
For example, we would like to drive a conveyor roller without the use of a spreadsheet. I figured out I could simply insert user-driven parameters in the top-level assembly and drive the parts with the parameters in the assembly, but it is telling me it would cause a cyclic redundancy, so I cannot do it this way, then I thought about iLogic.
It is currently working OK, but I have to enter in the iLogic rule to manually change the filenames in the rule for it to work.
Why? Mainly because we use a prefix to our parts and we sometimes use Autodesk Vault, sometimes not (depending on the project).
Here is my example;
I have a part named "Tube.ipt", "Bearing.ipt", "Spring.ipt" and "Tige Hexagonale.ipt" along with this code in the assembly level (Rouleau.iam):

How to make it work in iLogic:Search for something that has "Tube" in it's filename in this assembly, then store it into a variable called "Tube" Repeat this step for "Spring" and "Tige" Then replace "tige hexagonale:1" by the variable or something like this...
I would like to make an External Rule that would make an iLogic Internal Rule (with the same code every time). I guess what I really need is a way to drive an Ilogic rule into every part that does not have the rule in the part already.
I know what you’re thinking and just using the External Rule doesn’t work for what I want to do. I need it to be an iLogic Internal Rule.
Is there a possibility to furnish a hyperlink linking on a defined Excel-data sheet within an Excel file? Are there other possibilities to tie together to a drawing object external additional information, e.g., a product name, product data or product pictures?

I have a multi body part that I componented into an assembly. I am trying to get the assembly parameter in this case, "Height" to drive the parameters in the part model. I think I am using the right code but I get an error when I run the rule.

I am surveying a section of pipework and I need to display the brackets that are supporting the pipes. As there are numerous pipes on top of each other I have decided to show the brackets in plan and isometric view.
I think I have made the dynamic block ok and have numerous stretch/move and scale parameters working correctly.
But the only way that I can see of chaging these parameters at the momment is by manually typing them in the properties tool pallete for each individual block.
So I was thinking that if I can store the correct values that I need for each parameter in the dynamic block on our data logger along with the correct E,N,Z insertion point is it possible for this file to change the parameters in the dynamic block for example, If I have the correct insertion point stored and then have 10 parameters stored with that point for simplicity I store as A=5.00,B=8.00,C=0.100 etc and these correspond with the parameters in the dynamic block will this file be able to alter the dynamic block as the values in the excel/Text file are displayed.
At center line I want to place a small perpendicular line in specific length and put their coordinate to excel sheet(export coordinates).
I have already two programs for this, one for placing objects on curve with specific length and 2nd for pick & export coordinates to excel or other type of file. but this is very lengthy process & need too big time. but I think it cab be done in a single command written in lisp.
how to extract the attribute value of a particular block in multiple drawings to an excel file.
Eg... there are nearly 800 drawings where I need to list down the description and Drawing number which is mentioned in the title block name "Title". The Drawing Number and the description is done in same attribute block. extract the data into an excel file or txt file. All the drawings are saved in one location.
I got a new work and get it done in the next 2 days, but first I need to do this... from a text file (or excel file, I got both) I got 3 columns, 1 one for node number, and 2 other for X and Y coordinates for each node.
So from that file I need to insert into autocad the node numbers as text (using the current style and height) at the point specified by the other two columns, that are the X,Y coordinates which will be the insertion point of text..
I am searching for a simple automated Find and Replace script, the idea is that in Excel the Find and Replace with texts are located. The script finds the textblock in Illustrator and replaces it with the value from Excel "New number".

When I link in an excel document to my model all parameters in that excel gets the unit (mm).
How can I change this? For instance I want some of the parameters to be an angle.
Recently I have been trying to build table driven products and ipart tables, but when I copy a member to create a new part number, upon exiting the iassembly author I get the following message "excel installation is required for this operation. failed to launch excel". I have a fully functional version of 2010 Excel installed which has been used so it should be recognized in the windows registry. I am running Windows 8 and Autodesk Inventor 2014.

I need to loop through without knowing the UD name. Is there a way to recursively loop through all of the user defined properties?
Is there a way to declare a non-bound array (dynamic array?) in iLogic?
There are examples of set bounds array:
MyDoubleValues = New Double(){1.2,2.2,3.3}
But doing something like:
Dim MyDoubleValues() As Double ---Or--- MyDoubleValues = New Double()
Results in an error. On the other hand, the following totally works:
Dim MyDoubleValues(1) As Double
Which creates an array with a Ubound of 2
VBA routine that will allow you to select a work plane in the browser and find all sketches that are defined by it. We do extensive skeletal modelling and our master parts consist of many sketches and sketch planes
Note, I am aware of the VBA routine that allows you to select a sketch and highlight the plane or surface that it is made off of.
i can easily add user defined properties using Apprentice but i cannot delete them. There is a function to delete but i always get a message back saying the Parameter is Incorrect. When i check the parameter, it IS correct. Any method for deleted User Defined Properties using Apprentice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically I am evaluating to model rebars in Inventor. Rebars come in predefined shapes - for example a "L" bar will have two dimensions (marked as A, E and R). The shape definition is fixed by a standard (like BS:8666) and the values for dimensions A, E and R are provided when it is instantiated as a part in an assembly.
I created an assembly as follows:Created a new part containing just a solid cube.Created a part for the above rebar by sweeping a circle along path which resembelled the above bar.Created an assembly and inserted the cube as 1st part.Inserted the L bar part as 2nd partInserted another L bar as 3rd part.modified the 3rd part's diameter and found it updates the other L bar as well.
My questions:Is there any way for me to create the part for L bar without giving any fixed values for the sweep path and sweep profile diameter and use it in assembly?If the above question doesn't has a solution, then is there any way for me to change one instance of the part to change while other instances of it doesnt get affected (the behaviour said in step 6 of above should not happen).
I am trying to make an iPart of a fitting where I can change the "Body type" and it will change all the parameters associated with that body type through iLogic. Really I am just playing around in iLogic to see if this is something worth learning. Back to the point, I would like to change a multi-value user text parameter through the iPart table but I cannot find the paramter in the parameters tab.
Since it is a user parameter I thought it would be in the "Other" folder but it isn't. I do however have the other multi-value user number parameter in that folder, which makes me think that maybe I can't use the paramter in the iParts table?

I have created various symbols to be placed into drawings when required, rather than having to re-create the same sketch every time the drawing is produced.
When I place the symbol I am given the option to select where to insert it, based on the insertion point. The problem is... once the symbol is placed there is no way (that I can figure out) to constrain to the view or dimension to it.
I've some user-defined iProperties in my idw-file. As soon as I set the file to "read-only" (via explorer RMB->properties) these iProperties are not shown on the drawing sheet when i open the drawing. ow to abandon this effect?
