View 1 RepliesI am trying to rewrite Curtis Waguespack's ilogic code to modify drawing view labels from this post http: [URL]...
The completed label should appear like this
<Description> - Mk <Part Number>
Est Unit Mass = X kg
(Scale 1:1)
At this point I have 2 problems
1. I want to add the physical mass to the second line and would prefer to use the calculated physcial property rather than the a custom iproperty. If editing the view label, it would the property access under physcial properties.
2. I want to rewrite the code so it is selective or per view - in otherwords, I only want it to modify a single view I select once the code is run. At this point I know I need to remove the For loop but I dont have a clue as to how to make it selective.
'start of ilogic codeDim oDoc As DrawingDocument: oDoc = ThisDoc.DocumentoModel = ThisDoc.ModelDocumentDim oSheets As SheetsDim oSheet As SheetDim oViews As DrawingViewsDim oView As DrawingViewoSheets = oDoc.SheetsFor Each oSheet In oSheetsoViews = oSheet.DrawingViews For Each oView In oViews oView.ShowLabel = True

Is it possible to change the text height of a drawing view label through VBA?
I have tried to change it by creating a new text style manually with the text height I require and then through VBA set the view label to use that style.
The View label takes on the new style but does not change the text height.
I have tried to use 'StyleOverride FontSize=' but I have text that is multi lined and using this command converts all my text onto one line.

The hole table has a column named description, but in that column i want to change the defaults for the thread, i don't need the thread class, for example.
I can add or remove thread properties to the table, but i don't want to, i want to use the general Description column, which describes not only threads.
I am trying to scale down my label text insdie of my viewport. Its about twice the size that i would like.I tried to use the scale command but nothing happens.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the Inventor API to customize the text label that appears next to a section cutline in a drawing.
The text in question can be modfied through the Name variable of the SectionDrawingViewType object. However, this approach changes both the name of the SectionDrawingViewType object, as well as the text next to the section line. Is it possible to access just the section line text through the API? Is this text field exposed? Which object type is this text field?
Is there a way to "Edit Label Text" in a Parcel area label? Similar to the way you can edit it in other styles.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI find the 3D side of the software is great for modeling. But when it comes to the 2D drawing side of it, especially dimensioning and the adding of text label is very poor, when compared again other CAD packages including AutoCad Mechanical and LT.

How to remove the view label text which is attached to a detail boundary? I know that if you double click ont he etxt you can manually delete it from the format text window but I want edit the default setting so that it doesnt appear on creation.

1. When in style and Standard editor with default standard selected under Standard I am trying to display mass properties in my view label.Select View Preferences tab. View type Base. Next to Display select Edit View Label. When Format Text box pops up in the selection for text type I have two options.
    a. Properties - Model
    b. View Label Properties
2. Inside an IDW file right click on view and select edit view. When Drawing View box pops up there is the option to access Edit View Label next to View Identifier. When Format Text box pops up in the selection for text type at this point there are seven options.
    a. Properties - Model
    b. Properties - Drawing
    c. Drawing Properties
    d. Sheet Properties
    e. Physical Properties - Model
    f. View Label Properties
    g. Sheet Metal Properties
Questions 1. Why are ther only two options in S&S Editor?
                 2. Can I add more options to S&S Editor?
I would like to add mass to my lablel inside certain templates and have it show when I display a views Base view label. Not ot have to maunually add it each time it is displayed.
I just realized that the default is set to 20, which is too aggressive.
However, I don't see the way to change it in preferences.
Do I need to change the compression factor with every single save ? Or is there a way to set it in program defaults ?
I have a burning question. In CS4, when I use the Image Size command, the default units are centimetres instead of inches under Document Size part of the dialog box.
I know that keeping rulers set to inches will change that default, but I distinctly remember the time when I was able to keep my rulers set to pixels, and my Image Size to inches at the same time.
Something changed at some point and I can't figure out what. How can I keep my rulers set as pixels, but the Image Size dialog box to inches at all times?
The dictionary in the Character Palette always defaults to English USA in CS6. I have changed the setting Preferences > Dictionary and Hyphenation to English UK, but the Character Palette doesn't change, even though the setting remains changed in Prefs. I have opened each of the New Document Profiles in ..AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Illustrator CS6 Settingsen_USx64New Document Profiles (Windows 7) and changed the language in the Character Palette to English UK, and it STILL goes back to English USA!

I am currently using Autodesk Inventor 2013, but I noticed this same issue back when I used 2011 as well.
I created custom borders and title blocks for work, and have gotten those to a default template that I can open as a new IDW file on command, but the XML files used for that IDW are still linked to the default files located in the design data folder.
I have saved my company's custom settings such as line weights, dimensioning defaults, tables, etc. as a STYXML file, and have resorted to simply importing my company's defaults whenever I create a new IDW file, but I was wondering if and how to "re-link" the IDW file that I open to use my company's default settings instead of Inventor's default settings and then needing to import the STYXML every time.
I have a set of Lightroom Print templates that I am trying to use, that are all for a 4x6 print. I can't get it to work because my page setup in the print module defaults to letter size. When I go in and change the page setup, it messes up the template and it gets all jumbled. Then when I go on to the next template, it switches back to letter size again. I want to create and hold a 4x6 canvas so these templates can either be saved to a 4x6 .jpg or printed on 4x6 paper. I know I can save a printer and page layout as part of a template by clicking the "update settings" once I have it all as i want it, but I can't even get that far because it messes up the template as soon as I change the page settings to 4x6. How do I get the canvas to 4x6 on templates that are already created so I can save them as a 4x6 .jpg or print to 4x6 paper?
Â
I even just installed a printer that only prints 4x6 to see, but again, when I change the page layout it completely messes up the template.
After installing the 2012 Ultimate upgrade I haven't encountered any serious issues until yesterday when I found that my
sheet metal dialog box opens so far in the upper left corner that I can't grab it. In effect, I can only see the right corner of the box including part of the close button. All other buttons, including the location where I can drag the box, are out of view and unusable.Â
Whenever I create new text in a document, it defaults to RGB. When I start a new page, all of my settings are set to CMYK. I rarely use RGB. Where is the setting so that I can default new text to CMYK? I cannot locate this setting an any of my options.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI cannot find any information anywhere on whether there exists an option to save different defaults to the Place Views>Base Drawing View>Display Options tab? The parts I model always need "tangent edges" shown to look correctly on my drawings, and for 5 years I've had to manually select it every time I do a drawing. It just seems that there has GOT to be a way to get rid of this tedious step? And if there is not, can you plainly include this in the documentation so I can stop looking for such a feature?

On a daily basis I work with two different types of drawings; machining and fabrication. The machine shop prefers dimensions in decimal inches, and the fab shop only understands fractional inches. Is there any way to set up the styles/standards/templates to allow me to pick out which type of drawing I am creating and have Inventor use the correct object defaults for the dimensions?

In the dragged state, I don't want to use 'As Composed' because the label is composed to be parallel to the line, but I want it to flip to horizontal to the view when dragged. Â This is working fine with 'Stacked Text'
What is not working is the text justification. Â I want it to remain centre justified, as it is composed. Â But there doesn't seem to be any option for this when you use the 'Stacked Text' option for the dragged state. Â I thought that setting the 'Leader Justification' to false might do it, but that just makes it always left justified. Â Am I missing something here? Â Is there no 'Top right/bottom right/middle center/top left.....' option for Stacked Text? Â And if not, why not?
I'm in 2011. Â
know a rule to check if this dialog box sheet metal defaults "Use Thickness from Rule" is checked, and checked a rule to automatically clear since using a rule amending the plate thickness but if the box is checked catastrophic error occurs, and unchecking the rule works as expected.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have, as our standard library default dimension style, a 1/32 fractional style, called "1/32-FRACTION". Various Object Types, like Linear Dimension are set to this Object Style. When I create a drawing, then these Object Defaults are in effect.
This means that, doing nothing while executing a dimension command, I get fractional dimensions by default. This works good.
However, sometimes I want to create a drawing where the default dimension style is "X.XXX-DECIMAL" without changing the Object Defaults found in the style library. I've tried to make the changes from within the style library and then save this as a template. However, when I try to make a drawing based on this template, Inventor states that the styles in the template differ from the styles in the library" and then busily goes about undoing what I careful did.
So I'm hoping there is something in the API I can call on to do this with a macro. Is it possible to write a macro that after you start a drawing, flips all the various Object Styles from "1/32-FRACTION" to "X.XXX-DECIMAL"?
When I select a color for text and shapes, the software defaults to shades of gray, although black and white are available. I use the eyedropper to select red on the pallette, for example, and the red box is framed. But the color sample on both the menu bar and the tool bar sets to gray. Is there a swicth somewhere that inhibits red, green, blue, etc.?
Â
I even reinstalled the program, thinking I had a glitch--no change. The color selection had always worked in the past.
