AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Modify Marking Menu
Nov 11, 2013If i press RMB on an item form the marking menu it enables to suppress or modify it, but, on 2 computers, the RMB on the item activates it, just like the LMB.

Aug 6, 2013I want to assign the viability and open part commands to the marking menu in the presentation environment, but they are always greyed out. They show in the drop down menu below it though??

I don't see how I can add these.there is a way to add more marking menu buttons? 8 buttons are not always enough for my purposes.

I have made my own custom setting for marking menu and keyboard but have had to export it to the desktop and then re-import it inventor start up otherwise I loose all my custom setting.
Is there a folder / file where I can set my cutomized setting and get it to load on inventor start.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Marking Menu Shortcomings
May 19, 2012The marking menu covers just about every thing I can do... except for one very important thing (well for me anyways). It does not show me the value of the cell when its a function. For example, say that I edit an extrusion whose length is (12+36+11.254-.37). In previous Inventor versions, if I hoovered over this highlighted value, it would show me the resulting value and its name.
Inventor 2013 does not do that. In order to find the value I have to use the arrow keys and scroll through the box and then add it all up. It does not even display the parameter name...like d1, d2 or whatever, like all other Inventor versions did.

Jun 6, 2012I've been forcing myself to accumulate to the new marking menu and gestures system. I'm starting to get used enough to them to see that it's really worth it.
I've found that the defaults are crap for what I do in IV, which is fine because I can customize it to whatever I do use.
However, when I RMB on a component pattern it displays a unique menu for which there appears to be no option for under customization. I'd really like to replace the craptastic useless options with things that I actually use.
By the way, why does AutoDesk neglect component patterns so much?

Jun 10, 2011Marking menu that cuts off the bottom of the screen yet? This is very anoying that on some PC's if clicking somewhere closer to the bottom of the screen a portion of your context meny cuts off. If you click even lower then it jumps to the top but there is an area where it does not work.

I wish I can make some alterations but I did not find in this huge variety of possibilities
the option to alter the context menu of the Sketch.
I am in Sketch. I drawing the line. I want to quit. I do right click and have the menu. the name and probably the sub name of that menu. I cannot find it at all in the Customization list. I wish at least to locate the Escape to bottom. Did not find also the option to turn the Marking menu off.

Jun 22, 2012When i select a tool trough marking menu it loses focus when marking menu disapears, focus is then set back to inventor. We have 3 PC's with inventor here, but only i have this problem. Just started doing this today, i have restarted didnt work, and i have tried the old 2012 version wich works fine...
Very irritable when i start a macro that need keybord input and i have to select the userform again before typing... *angryface*

It would be really convenient to be able to shift-click several objects and toggle the visibility of them. I have a mouse with numerous buttons that are mapped to commonly used IV features, but I cannot find a way to map a visibility toggle.

So far I have found nothing that allows me to Modify Text."To Replace Existing Dimension Text With Alternate Text" it says to "Click Modify menu > Object >Text >Edit." The only Modify menu I can find is the Modify menu at the top showing 12 icons then it's drop down showing 14 more icons. There is no Object icon in that menu. how to Modify Text in LT2013.

Oct 22, 2013I have a STP file of a seat that I just want to simply modify it's dimensions. Bring some aspects in closer, raise the back, and hollow out the middle. I can't seem to do anything and in searching online I only ended up with Inventor Fusion 2013 R1 that crashes each time, and Fusion 360 which has to be the worst user experience I have ever found in a piece of software.
(Side note I understand a little about solid models and surface models, but I just want something to work, otherwise inventor is a glorified model viewer.

Nov 8, 2012I have a dimensioning problem. I have dimensions that I cannot modify as I normally do. I do not know what setting is stopping me but here is what it is doing. I add a dimension to a part. I then edit it to add 2X in front if it. It will then put it on top of the dimension. If I put it behind the text, it then goes beneath the dimension. There is no way to add text and it would actually appear on the same line as the dimension.

I regularly imports STEP and the parts have defined colors. Unfortunately for change must clear all colors of surfaces. By cons, if you edit the styles we see that for each color there is a style with the color name.

- Num = ABC
- Original filename = toto.ipt
- New filename = ABC_toto.ipt, and Occurence name = ABC_toto
The code :
fileDir contain the file path
docFName contain the original file name (for example, toto.ipt)
Num contain the prefix to add to the name and the occurence name (for example, ABC)
If <condition>Then
New_name = fileDir & Num & "_" & docFName
Call oFileNameOcc.SaveAs(New_name, True)
Call oOccurrence.Replace(New_name, False)
oOccurrence.name = Num & "_" & oOccurrence.name

The problem is, the first time I use the macro, the prefix is added twice in the occurence name (the filename is ok) : I obtain ABC_ABC_toto. This happen only the first time, and only on an orrignal Frame Generator assembly.
If I use the macro again, with for example Num = 123, the result is : 123_ABC_ABC_toto.Where is the problem ?

Jul 22, 2009I am fed up with constantly changing the colour, justification, font and font size of text in sketches in the part environment. The text style drop down box is greyed out in the part environment so i can't set up a style and just change it.

Nov 9, 2012Is it possible to modify a sketch symbol that has existing prompted text while keeping the existing prompted text? For example, I have a sketch symbol that is placed on every detail on the drawing. We could have 8 details on a drawing.
This sketch symbol uses prompted text to fill in the relevant information for each detail. Is there a way to change the sketch symbol globally and then copy the sketch symbol in to each drawing without losing the prompted text? Component W:T46DManufacturing Drawings8300673-.idw is not checked out to you. Edits are not allowed on this file.
I understand this has something to do with using Vault. However since I am the only one using Inventor and these files are not shared, I did not install Vault on the old computer or the new one.
