AutoCAD Inventor :: Bend Line Projection On A Sketch
Feb 4, 2013
Just by selecting a bend line on the flat pattern, I'd like to draw only 2 lines on a sketch (without any border projection, only points) at both ends of the bend line.
I'm sure it can be done via VBA, but don't know how to start for it.
I have drawn a 2D sketch (of a wind turbine) and I found it easier to just rotate the drawings of the blades out of the plane of the drawing to get something that looks like an isometric view. So now some parts of my drawing are in plane, and other parts are turned out of plane by like 35 degrees, so looking at it from the top it looks like an isometric view of the turbine.
However, now I have a task to have the same drawing but with gradient filling in the turbine itself as well as the air and water in the background. The easiest way to do this would be to somehow get a 2D projection drawing of what I see when I look at the plane from the top. (see attached picture)
So what I need is to get what is called "Top View" in the picture with all lines being in-plane from the out-of-plane drawing shown on the right.
If there is a way to remove the bend extents line when you create flat pattern. I don't mean in the drawing, the actual flat itself. My reasoning for this is when i transfer the flat into my nesting program, the bend extents lines transfer too. See attached img.
I have feature line with elevations that represents bottom of ditch and want to go UP 3:1 slope. also i have edge of road feature line that is higher than ditch and want to go 2% down until it hits side of the ditch that is 3:1. Any easiest way in civil 3d to create intersection line between ditch bottom going up 3:1 and edge of road going down 2%?
Is there any way to project feature lines into a profile when the plan view is xref'd? I have my plan view "existing topo" with all existing features/Figures and a existing surface.
My profile is a separate dwg with plan view xref'd and surface a data shortcut. Of course there are feature lines and Survey Figures in the existing top I want to project into the profile, but can't because it is an xref. Besides copying .
I am trying to extend a line in my sketch, but everytime I select it an error message comes up saying "the curve being extended" What curve is inventor refering to?
I have a drawing view of a part with a sketch that contains some lines. I need to pick one of the sketch lines.
I can pick a line with sketch active using the kSketchCurveLinearFilter
I have not been able to pick it from outside of sketch. Have tried using kDrawingCurveSegmentFilter to get a DrawingCurveSegment but I can not get the sketch line from the DrawingCurveSegment
I assume there is a way to get the sketch line from DrawingCurveSegment or DrawingCurveObject but have not figured it out.
I made a bunch of lines, then used the bend command to make curves where they intersected. I'm trying to put lines connecting A to C and B to D. How do I constrain the ends of the lines to the center of the curves?
I have a basic problem but I can't seem to be able to get around it. I added an image to a sketch successfully but it cam with a yellow line around it (see attached) and I can't remove it. In the sketch properties I was able to change it's color to black to make less visible but it's still there.
When I draw a sketch while making a dwg drawing, the lines are light green that is nearly invisible on the background color. How can I change the line color?
I'm using Inventor professional 2012 student edition.
I want to draw a line between the two sketches visible on the image below. The line should be in the plane visible. The starting point of the line should be from wherever the top sketch intersects the plane of the current sketch. The finnish point of the line should be wherever a line of the bottom sketch intersects the current sketch plane.
There is no tooltip appearing that would allow me to quickly "attach" the starting line to the correct position. Is there such an aid, and how do i turn it on?
When we apply surface projection gradings to feature lines, we get locked vertices on the feature line wherever the grading transitions from cut to fill. In turn these vertices create segments in the feature line which influence any labels applied to the line. I don't want a bazillion segment labels on my FL. I only want segment labels between the physical vertices and elevation points. Is there a workaround or is an enhancement request in order?
I need to change a solid line in a drawing to a dotted line to indicate that it is a hidden line. I know I should use Modify/Properties, I just don't know how to import the dotted line into the properties box.
I want to bend a line in photoshop. I create a path with the line tool, but then what? If I add an anchor point, it creates a new line that closes the shape.. I can position that line over the bend line, but i can be done more simple I recon..
I've created a shared sketch and have used it with various features. Sometime those features are suppressed. The model works fine but the shared sketch generates a sketch doctor error because the feature that created it has been suppressed. Is there anyway to make the sketch suppressed so it doesn't trigger a sketch doctor error? Inventor 2013
Is it possible to read the current setting for drawing projection (1st or 3rd angle) from the style library associated with the currently open drawing file (idw)?
How do I duplicate the 2D line work from a part level sketch into a drawing level (overlay) sketch?
I started a simple 2D piping system diagram sketch by opening a new part file and using a sketch to stick draw the system schematic including some annotations. Then I opened a new drawing file and made a base view of the part file to bring a view of the original sketch into the drawing.
I realize now that it would have been much easier to have created the schematic directly in a 2D sketch at the drawing level, which would have made editing the annotations much easier at the drawing level, and there is really no need for the part file to exist. I have no intention of creating a 3D model or "real" part in the .ipt file, was just using it as a jumping off point to sketch.
I was thinking that I could correct my error in judgment by just copying the sketch and pasting it into a new sketch on the drawing, but it doesn't want to work that way. I have tried copying both the whole sketch at the browser level, and the entire sketch contents (all of the lines and annotations) from the opened part sketch, but when I attempt to paste either of those into the drawing, paste does not seem to be an option. I'd rather not have to draw the whole thing again, as in typical fashion, my once simple sketch has grown in proportion and complexity from its simple beginning.
I'm working on some renderings for homes, and I need to plase some bricks over an arch on a window. I've got a pic of bricks all lined up, but they are straight, and I need them to bend around a curve.
However when the Base view is created it also displays surface geomerty created for referencing.
I attach a PDF which shows this.
Even though these are hidden in the respective Part files, they keep showing up in the Drawing and I cannot find a way to hide them. How to stop this from happening? BTW I am using Inventor 2013.
I made this part, which is a loft consisting of five symmetric squares. I plan on laser cutting each side, which would be exactly the same.
I can't seem to figure out how to make a flat projection of one of the sides. I have tried in sheet metal, but I don't use that feature in my line of work.
Is it possible to create projection views of a solid model part? I want to make a front, top and right side view of the part in solid model form all on the same part file. I thought I could copy the part in each view but "help" says I can't copy a solid model.
