AutoCAD Inventor :: Bearing Drawings With Unsectioned Rolling Elements
Nov 28, 2012
I am trying to make a standard sectioned drawing of a shaft with bearings. I understand the rolling elements of the bearings are not to be sectioned. The rest of the bearing, however, must be sectioned. I cannot find a way to make that happen.
The bearing I'm using is from the content center. I can only choose between sectioning the bearing or not section it, I don't have that option anymore when it comes to individuals parts of the bearing.
An interesting problem for all you inventor users.I have a design where a tube/pipe requires a series of holes at a specific dia and triangular pitch is required to be modeled.
If one can imagine a flat piece of sheet steel ie standard perforated sheet which is then rolled to form a pipe/tube to a specific dia then this is what is required.
Is it possible to model this in inventor say as a flat sheet with given thickness and a specific no of holes at a given pitch, this then to be rolled, obviously the development of the sheet to be correct for the pipe od.ie 3.142 x dia.
Is there a function in inventor to enable this, the alternative being a very long winded method of modeling the pipe and then adding holes.
I am new in using sheet metal. So far i am able to form a cylinder made out of sheet metal and i am able to unfold it.The only problem is i want the two ends of the flat sheet to overlap so that it can be bolted together like a lap joint orientation. How to perform this function using metal sheet ipt?
I have drawn a cylinder, with inside diameter 1028mm, wall thickness 5mm. We usually have calculated unfolded part length like this: outside dim. 1038mm - 5mm (wall thickness) = 1032 x 3,14 = 3240mm. Now when i unfold in inventor I get for the length 3215,35mm. It is quite far from the result we usually would have received.
Unfolded part will be rolled to cylinder. What parameters should be overlooked when making unfolded parts for plate rolling?
I have an assembly which contains some content centre tapered roller bearings. When I do a slice of the entire assembly the bearings remain solid. Within the document settings>modelling tab the "Participate in Assembly and Drawing sections" is checked.
How can I get the part to be sliced within the half sliced view like everything else?
I have been entering captions on my holiday photos but after I've done a few the pictures begin to roll rapidly through. I have been closing PS9 and opening it again, but the problem continues to recur.
I'm trying to build an assembly with conical rollers rolling on a cylindrical support. Refer to the attached sketch. I'd like to be able to constrain the conical faces of the roller to the cylindrical surface of the support. It doesn't seem to be possible to do that in Inventor; or, more accurately, it's not possible to put a tangential constraint on both conical faces at the same time. The first tangential constraint causes the part to place a generatrix line parallel to the axis of the cylinder. (I had to look up what generatrix means, too.) So it's not possible to make the second tangential constraint.
How I can do this? Just in case that's not difficult enough, the reason I'm doing this is because, ultimately, the support will not be a plain cylinder but actually a tube that also curves. It's the behaviour of the roller through various curves on the support tube that I ultimately want to model, but I have no hope of doing that if I can't even get the roller constrained onto a plain cylinder.
I need insert a cylinder into inner diameter of a ball bearing, logically it must rotate with the bearing but no, the bearing outer diameter is fixed to a support and works well, but when i insert the cylinder into the ball bearing it's fixed completely and the cylinder rotate into the inner diameter.
For some reason when using the path option in inventor studio for camera animation the camera rolls for no reason?? I have created two helical curve sketches around my product, the outer curve is the path for the camera and the inner curve is the path for the target. Both curves are the same height and have 1 revolution. When i play the camera it works out fine untill it hits 1/4 of the way through and suddenly flips 180 degrees so now the camera is upside down, once it hits 3/4 of the way it flips back again to the correct rotation. If i dont create an inner curve for the target and place the target directly in the centre of my product with no path to follow the camera spins all over the place when it follows the curve.
I know how to annotate the length of a line, I just can't figure out how to annotate the bearing. Like, if I'm drawing an area for a surveyor and there is a line 1000 ft. with a bearing of N08d15'37"W. How do I get that line to be labelled "N08d15'37"W"?
how to get C3D 2014 to label a radial bearing? I guess I could dream up an expression using the start Northing and Easting and the Center Northing and Easting, then converting from decimal to DMS
I am wondering if there is a way to get the bearing label to look show a 09d02'01" the way i have is set up it cuts off the 0 infront of them? I thought that would be fine however my boss does not, so I have o explode the label and add it in then. I do not like to do this however.
I am looking for ways to draw the rolling of blades or slats around an axe for Aluminum Roller Shutters. The path of the rolling is an hellix, rolling around a 70 mm octogonal reel then continue downward in a downward movement.
I have attached some pics from Catalogues and Guides where such have been drawn.
I am having a small but annoying problem with the viewcube in AutoCAD 2014. In all the previous versions that had the viewcube, when I unchecked the "Zoom to Extents after view change" box, the view would pivot about the center of the screen. Now it seems to pivot about an arbitrary point an I have to zoom_e anyway.
I keep trying to draw a line by bearing and distance using the format @50.00'<N80d04'30''E. Everything enters but when I enter the last command of the bearing and hit enter it stays in the red boxed outline and does nothing. Upgraded to 2014 and trying to get things set for drawing property boundaries. Tried setting the units to surveyors mode and such but nothing works.
I am trying to find where the formatting is for the General Legal Description bearings. I am currently getting an output of NORTH 00° 12' 33" EAST, but would like to eliminate the spaces in the DMS: NORTH 00°12'33" EAST. This is also the case with the delta angle for curves. When I run the Metes and Bounds report, the bearings appear without the spaces. I think that I have changed it before, but I have switched employers since editing the files.
I am using Civil 3D 2012. I know how to label a line with bearing and distance. What I would like to do is make a table with these bearings and distances referencing the point numbers. For instance, I have a new ROW line that starts at point 1000 and changes direction at point 1001 and changes direction at 1002 and so on. I need a table that shows Points 1000-1001 is ___ Bearing and ___ Distance.
The lines are not parcel lines; they are only line segments.
Looking to see if any out there has a "Double Rolling Chain Link Fence Detail for opennings greater than 25 feet" who does not mind sharing. Although I have seen a double cantelever sliding gate of geater openning width, Of all my years in the building modelling field I had never seen a detail, or an actual gate for that matter. This is for a regular galvanized chain link fence construction. My search online has been fruitless.

I am attempting to rotate my Survey database to my platted line bearing. I calculate out the angle of rotation around my section corner (in my case 0.0641) and when I apply the translate survey data, it rotates it at a much larger scal than specified (1.5236). I have also tried by "pick in drawing" to specify rotation without much luck.
I have an Image which I had wanted to add text that will be rotating across the image. The Image itself should be static. For example I have a static picture of a car, and I want a dynamic rotating text displaying, buy now pay in 5 years including free garage service.
How to get a tangent bearing or radial bearing to show up in the legal description writer? All I can get are their opposites. Is there some code that I can add that will swap their direction (say NE for a SW)?
The convention out here (OR/WA) is to show a radial bearing (from the PC to the radius point) or a tangent bearing (into the beginning of a curve) for any non-tangent curves. So far, I haven't been able to figure out how to do this automatically.
Also, any good guide or list of variables for using the Parcel Reporting for legal descriptions in c3d? I really want to know what ALL the different pieces of data are that I can use in the legal writer, and how to manipulate them.
I want to create a hole on a golf course and need to be able to add some gentle rolling effects to the fairway layer so it doesn't look flat. Can PS6 do this? I do not currently have CS6 extended but could get it if needed. I was thinking maybe some kind of wire frame and then it could generate some hightlights and shadows based on that frame?
I know nothing about 3d but from what I do know that is what came to mind. Right now I'm doing it with the burn and dodge tools and other similar methods but it's time consuming.
I need to reproduce wavy contour (blueprint) lines which will follow the undulating landscape on a lot of images I have. As per the attachment, they almost have a neon glow and are in a grid format. I can do a grid but adding the wave filter doesn't allow me to adapt it to suit the pic.
