Lightroom :: Multiple Drives That Get Swapped In-and-out?
Dec 27, 2012I have multiple hard drives in my Macpro. If I import photos and videos onto the drives and then remove the drives and swap them with other drives, what will happen? Will the images and videos that were on the drive that was just removed not be found in LR, or can it cause other problems/corrupt the Library, etc.?

3ds Max Modeling :: Converting Group Of Selected Edges Into Edge?
Mar 30, 2011I have some edges on my models that dont cooperate when i click Loop. They're inline with each other but it wont loop for some reason. Is there anyway to tell 3dsmax "hey this is an edge loop.... turn it into an edge loop selection."? i use the cut tool, insets, bevel etc and some edges loose the ability to be selected as loops

Jul 31, 2013I am trying to use a selected surface in a LISP program. I want to be able to save the currently selected surface into a varialble that I can use to control the style of the surface. I would be either selecting the surface by picking the surface from the drawing, or selecting the surface from the list/dialog box of available surfaces. I can't seem to locate a system varialble that holds that info.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Export Selected Objects Only?
Sep 28, 2012I'm in a situation where i have to export a civil3d 2013 drawing to autocad 2000, but i don't want to send everything in the drawing, just the final drawing from model space. is there a way to not need export the drawing and then delete the objects i don't want to send? It seems like a simple task but i work with some people that can't handle simple things like that, so aside from trying to find new co-workers, what can i do?

Sep 24, 2013I've seen this bug for several versions and it's still present even in 2014. After viewing a corridor section, doing an inquiry, then clicking the Close button to get back the corridor is not able to be selected. It's "invisible" to the cursor. The only way I've found to get back to normal is to zoom out a bit, do a regen all, then a save. That's the only way to get the cursor to select the corridor again short of restarting C3D.
I can't recall what version I first noticed it in, but I think it was 2011 or 2012.
EDIT: Forgot to say this doesn't happen every time. I can't pinpoint what changes between tries, though. Usually, once it happens and I do the previous steps I can select it for a while. Then the bug hits again and I have to do the steps again.

Jun 18, 2013If I select some objects (i.e. pipe, feature line, etc.) and right click to bring up my shortcuts, I click on SOME commands (i.e. object viewer, elevation editor, etc....respectively, the command does not progress....it forces me back to a selection box cursor and I have to reselect the object.
For example, I select a pipe, I then right click, shortcut menu pops up, I select "object viewer", and then my previous slection is not granted and it asked for a new selection (it used to always just proceed with the command), I then have to select the pipe I had previously seleted, and the command proceeds as normal.
not a bid deal, but it slowing down my productivity having to select these items twice. The wierd thing is that it is not like this with all of my right click short cut commands...only a few!?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Design Profile Actively Selected With Grips Showing
Oct 24, 2013We have recently installed Civil 3D 2014 Service Pack 1, and while for the most part it works great, we are noticing one significant issue with profiles. In particular, when we have a design profile actively selected with grips showing, and then select one of the grips, the PVI you are editing becomes offset from the cursor. When you select a point with the cursor, the profile syncs back up as you would expect.
Just thinking out loud, but it seems like it would be some sort of graphic card issue, but we are seeing it across multiple machines.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Open Xref In Selected Layout And Zoom To Match View
May 29, 2013I have used Autocad since 1991, and my current job required me to use Microstation. One feature I liked from Microstation is the ability to select and open an external DGN reference, and then match the view of the parent DGN, called the "EXCHANGE" command. In AutoCAD, you can also select and open an xref, but the DWG opens to the previous saved view, and not to the desired view that matches the layout.
My thought was to experiment with lisp or script and export the "Viewctr", "Viewtwist" and "Viewsize" variables to a text file, then importing the text file and using the "Viewtwist" as my "SNAPANG" value, then "Viewctr" as my "ZOOM, CENTER" value, and finally the "Viewsize" as the "Enter magnification or height:" value.
But, alas, I have no time, and not quite the knowledge to duplicate MicroStation's open-xref-and-zoom-to-view feature. I hesitate using the REFEDIT, which works fine for regular AutoCAD, but not so much for Civil 3D and the objects it creates (labels and other items with data shortcuts).

Jun 28, 2012Is there a particular reason that the intersection wizard will not create the profiles if you select the horizontal alignments rather than let it create them by offset?? My EOP is not always parallel to the centerline. Why bother giving the option to pick out a name if it isn't going to work.

Sep 30, 2013I am having difficulty with the display of my point numbers and description when plotting. I am doing piping desing and utilizing Civil 3D points for the coardinates and elevations to display in a point table. For my viewport, in the properties dialogue box, under the Shade Plot option, I have selected Legacy Hidden due to needing my pipes to display properly only to have my points not display properly. If I opt for Legacy Wireframe or As Displayed, my points display correctly but my pipes do not. Any clue as to how I can have both display properly?

Jun 6, 2010When a corridor has lots of variations along the outside edges of the travelway it can make corridor modeling from the centerline a cumbersome task. This is because we have to create a template and region for every scenario where the edge treatment varies from right to left.
To simplify the process I have considered creating alignments for the edges of the roadway and adding them as baselines to the corridor. This way we can create just a few assemblies for the various edge treatments and apply them independently to the left and right baselines. These assemblies would then target the centerline profile to model the crown of the roadway, just as we do for curb returns.
In my experiments it seems to work nicely, but I encountered problems when viewing cross sections and calculating quantities, since the software is designed to work from the centerline baseline. Would it make the sections work if I add an assembly to the center baseline with short segments of pavement and stretch them to the edge baselines?
Another challenge is generating the profiles for the edge of the roadway to use for the baselines. These profiles would need to follow the centerline at a given vertical offset to provide the desired crown slope. Any edits to the centerline profile would need to be reflected in the edge profiles. This could be done by creating a surface from a grading object that is built on a featureline generated from the centerline and using that surface profile for the edge of roadway baselines. Another would be to stretch the center assembly to the edge and generate a profile that way.
So my question is: can this workflow be made to work somehow?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Working On Edge Of MGA - Scale Factor Changing Slightly
Dec 2, 2013I have a client who is working on the edge of a MGA coordinate zone - as they are near the edge of the zone their scale factor is large and needs to be factored in to all setouts (it makes 50mm of difference over 100 metres.)
their previous solution has been to work day to day at 1 to 1 scale and then xreference this back into a MGA projection by using a scale factor around a single point false origin.
As they are moving away from this false origin - the scale factor is changing slightly.
Is it possible to create a user grid at 1 to 1 for the day to day use and then query this into a MGA drawing. via ADEQUERY to bring it back to MGA ?

Nov 21, 2013I am working on modeling a pond riser. I had one model with a series of small round perforations in the riser and I needed to look at a version that used larger, square cut-outs in the riser. So, I performed a "save-as" and adjusted my orifices to match my new model requirements. When I attempted to run the model, I received the following error: "ERROR 537 : Unable to perform multiple storm analysis, no storm was selected.".
I have encountered this one time before and was able to go back to the first model and start over. However, now, even when I run the first model (small round perfs), I receive the same error.
I have a storm event assigned for both models but the program does not seem to recognize this any longer.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: MEP 2013 Layer Dialog - Layer Pane Not Updating To Selected Filters
Jan 18, 2013I'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading from 2012 because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed.
Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I have seen no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I dont want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipeouts dont work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
Photoshop :: Why Would Font Size Differ Between Selected And Non-selected Text

When I have a text layer selected with the type tool active, the font size reads correctly (say, 40px). When I actually select the text with the type tool, the font size gives a strange number (say, 38.74px).

Feb 15, 2011Using Autocad 2000LT and trying to locate as many 1.5" diameter circles as I can within a 21" diameter circle keeping all the circle .500" apart from any other circle and .500" away from the outer edge. Am using the array function. Trying to bring the first circle up to the line thats .500" in from the 21" outside diameter.
First when I zoom the 1.5" circle looks like a series of lines, not a smooth round circle. First how do I smooth out the appearance of the circle. Second, what commands do I use to move the edge of the circle to just tough the line so that when I measure from the outside dia to the far edge of the small circle I get 2".
Photoshop :: Feathering Layer Edge - Increasing Intensity Closer To Edge?
Mar 25, 2013I'm having trouble getting the edges of my eyes to look like they are part of the chair, which got me wondering. Is there a way to feather my edges with increased intensity closer to the edge? To be specific, I'd like to start the feather 100px inside the border with 60% opacity, all the way to the edge (border) with 0% opacity. I tried doing this manually a couple of ways and it just didn't look uniform.
I have also tried with the eyes seperated (without the middle area), but I still have the same issues.

Also, I've used CS4 a fair bit and haven't come across this same problem but in PE when I'm editing things like adjusting text on a layer and I'm changing options with hotkeys to resize the text box for eg, Elements seems to jump to the background layer quite alot and then I have to click back on the layer I want to edit between changing tools. Is it something to do with the Esc key?
