Jul 13, 2012Is it possible in ACA2011 to explode a block, but control what layer the pieces go to?
I have a block for a closet rod and shelf , but it always has to be re-sized once in the drawing so i must explode it. since it was made on layer 0 it explodes to that layer and I have to change the items to the proper layer.

Sep 12, 2012I have my Transmittal settings file format set to: AutoCAD 2007 Drawing Format with Exploded AEC Objects, but the E-Transmit will not explode the AEC objects in attached Xrefs. I can't find any setting that would allow this or prevent this. It worked fine in C3D 2012, but it's not working in 2013.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Plan Production Explode Label Orientation
Jul 18, 2013I finished my pressure water pipeline plan/profile viewframe and sheets. But in order to approve it here in Brazil, I need to deliver a CD with the .DWG file without AEC Objects. My dismay is the label orientation when I run the AECObjExplode, since all my alignment labels need to be VIEW oriented. Is there a way to do run AECObjExplode so the labels stay oriented to my view frame and sheets in paper space?

Oct 7, 2013I got a survey that has hundreds of cogo points. I need to bring this into a mapping dwg but not as cogo points. What's already in the map file is block reference (trees, power poles, signs, etc.). When I explode the cogo points (select all) they turn into 1/100th of the size (although the Properties scale hasn't changed). If I explode one by one, they are fine. how I can get these cogo points into the map dwg as block reference at the correctoriginal size?

Mar 11, 2013We've recently done some work for an engineering firm, and have also recently upgraded to Civil 2013.
It turns out they are using Civil 2011, and obviously are unable to open our drawing. As far as I'm aware, they need a TIN surface and cogo points, but I'm unsure of how to provide them with this other than reproccessing the job on an older version of Civil.
I'm thinking that I might be able to export to LandXML to keep all my points and surface, and then just export to Autocad 2010 for the linework?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2011 - Will Not Display Ribbon
Feb 11, 2013I am using Civil3d 2011 and the ribbon will not display. The button seem to work some times but I can't see the ribbon, QAT, or Infocenter. I tried relaoding the CUI files, updated video card drivers, Civil3D patches, even uninstalled and reinstalled Civil3D.
I can turn the ribbon off (ribbonclose) and the ribon area is rendered correctly on the screen. I can turn the menubar on/off and it works just fine.
I tried logging on to the computer as different user, as the administrator, etc. Same error.
I use the Ribbon but now I can't because I can't see it.
I have attached a screen shot of the ribbon area.

Aug 8, 2013We have some clients that are using version 2011 and we are using 2014. The landxml we made for them was too big for them to import. My boss made a DEM GEOTIFF to send as it was much smaller.
The client has called me and asked me how the heck does he import the file as he as never worked with them. I have a computer with a 2012 installation, but it's corrupt, none of the MAP utilities work.
how to instruct my client to import this file.

Feb 19, 2013I have a job that the customer provide the original CAD files with Civil 3D styles in them. As the project has progressed we have found many of the styles were not created properly and notified the customer. They have told us to fix the errors and send them the corrections...
Now that I have one file working properly I have to push the changes to the 30+ styles through the 100+ files of the job. Is there a quick way to do this in Civil 3D 2011? (It is part of our contract to use this specific program and release year without converting the files.) Or do I need to drag-and-drop each style into each file?

Mar 9, 2012Having trouble with splined polylines in 2011? I tried to edit a splined PLine and the program was unresponsive for about 10 minutes. After I edited the spline the drawing size doubled. I reverted to a backup and erased the spline. I drew a Pline and used Fit Curve with no problem.
I draw another PLine and didn't like the results. So I tried to spline it and now Civil is unresponsive for the past 5 minutes. I'm doing this on a different computer. So it isn't that particular machine or installation.

We've a problem that when the software is deployed to machines it doesn't display the tool palettes. After some investigation and following steps on this website I've identified that the issue is the tool palettes are installed inn to the profile of whoevers account installs the software. if its deplyoed this will be the Sys Admin account and not the profile of the relevant user account.
What is the location of the tool palette settings within the registry or the relevant configuration files in the profile so that I can either script or embed it in to the package?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2011 Will Not Start - Goes Right Back To Desktop
Jun 3, 2011I recently got a new computer that has Windows 7 64-bit on it. I immediately installed Civil 3d 2012 on it and it worked great. Some of our projects are in 2012 but some of them are still in 2011. So I exported the license from my old machine and tried to install Civil 3d 2011 on my new machine. I noticed that a couple SQL programs did not install because there was already a newer version on my machine. When it finished installing a tried to open it up and it acts like it is going to start ( I get the pretty Civil 3d Picture in the middle of my screen and the window pops up) but as soon at it starts it just disappears and goes right back to my desktop.
I though that maybe the problem was that I installed 2012 first so I completely uninstalled both of them and tried to reinstall just 2011 and I still have the same problem. I also tried disabling my Virus/Spyware protection software and reinstalling it. Same results.

Jun 21, 2012Recently (In the past 6 months) I have noticed that Sheet Set Manager is very slow when trying to do anything. It takes at least 45 seconds for a box to appear when right clicking on SSM to publish or change properties. Every user in our office has the same problem. I am not sure if this is a network problem or if it is a problem with C3D ?

Mar 13, 2012When we try to open/save a file that was started in Land Desktop, we get significant performance slowdowns, lockups, and crashes in Civil 3D 2011. Most of these files only contain simple linework, labels, etc. (no Land Desktop surfaces, alignments, profiles created in project).
We've tested purge, purge regapps, audit, recover, Export to AutoCAD, and AECOBJEXPLODE (which produces errors). WBLOCK is not really an option in this case because we may have to reference multiple projects back to these original Land Desktop files.

Feb 2, 2012We have been processing/adjusting our field control observations in an outside program (Star-net) and then importing the control into our C3D Database through an import event (PNEZD File). Once the control has been imported we import our field data (.fbk file) through an import event as well. The problem that we are having is once you process a .fbk that uses one of those control points it "locks" the control point, so the next day when we get another field download and the control is re-adjusted, we can't update the control points in the C3D Database.
The only way we have found to get our newly adjust control into the C3D Database is too delete all of the "import events" that use the control point and then import our new control. This is a HUGE hassle.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2011 Edit Cogo Point Descriptions
May 19, 2011I'm seeing weird behavior in C3D 2011 that I never saw in previous versions.Sometimes when I select a Cogo Point and attempt to edit the Raw Description from the Properties window, C3D changes the description to all lower-case letters, and it will not let me key in any upper-case letters. If I select the point -> Edit Points, I can edit the description in Panorama without problems. It's only in the Properties window that it refuses to accept anything other than uppercase letters.
This issue only happens sometimes. Sometimes, I'm able to edit descriptions from the Properties window with no problem. Other times, C3D changes the existing description to all lowercase letters, and refuses to allow me to enter anything but lowercase letters.what causes it, and ideally some way to get C3D 2011 to stop behaving like this?
