AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Marker Style Not Work If X And Y Scale Different
Sep 22, 2013
I created 3 marker styles to be used be applied as markers within 3 figure styles, but using the same block for all 3 marker styles. The size of the marker styles is set to "Use fixed scale" and all have a Y and Z scale of 1 but different X values. Unfortunately it seems that if the X and Y values are different the marker will not show up on the figure.
I believe I've found a bug with marker styles. I found this while editing a profile style. Under my profile style I have the Point of Vertical Intersection set to PI Point for the marker style.
Here is the screenshot of the marker style for the plan view.
Here is the screenshot of the marker style for the profile view with part of my profile shown next to it. Notice how the marker color is different in the profile than what it's set to. It's also not changing layers. It seems that the profile setting for the marker style display doesn't actually work. It takes the settings for the plan view and ignores the profile display style.

Is is possible to have an attributed block in a marker style or note style? I would like to have editable text upon insertion of the marker or text? I have tried unsuccessfully to get it to work. Does the fact that C3D displays the marker and note as objects prevent it from being editable? Is there a workaround?
Is there a way to change the marker style on general note labels that are already in the drawing without having to select them all and change it in the properties? I want to change the marker style from "basic" to "none" on the note labels but I'm not seeing a ToolSpace setting to change them all at the same time without having to individually change it...
Does the Style setting Plan Readability work for General Notes? I've been thinking we should use notes for all our text so that they react the same as all the other Civil 3D labels. But they don't seem to. They scale correctly but stay parallel to the UCS.
I've tried this in a fresh drawing from a simple template and from an OOTB template. They never rotate in a layout. Is this the normal behavior or am I missing a setting? This is how I have it set in my style:

I'm using Civil 3D 2012 and I'm having a hard time to turn off a maker that I didn't recognize in 2011. While having all my Osnap tools turned off, I will make a Fillet between 2 polylines, but an automatic yellow marker keeps poping up on the screen (See PDF attachement).
I read all of the posts I could on point gaps and know how to make the leader reach for the center of the point. What I want is for the leader to actually attach to the block of the style I have created. Is this possible, or do I need to find a new way to label of these points so that the leader touches the block. Also I noticed the gap is not consistent from point to point.
I am using civil 3d 2011 with the latest service pack.

Is there a way to search for a text style in a civil style? I have a text style that our company is trying to get rid of and I would very much like to not have to go through our 72 company styles.

Can't seem to figure out the correct style menu to access in order to turn the pink circles that represent (I believe) the station markers OFF when I go to view my corridors in object viewer or section editor...
I am trying to change the sizes of markers individually. When I change the marker of one, it changes for all of them. I think this has to do with the point groups. I am able to add all points to a new group but I cant specify which markers i want in that group.
I have my layer set up as dashed linetype for lines. My point style marker is set up as continuous linetype. When I import the survey file it automatically draws the lines correctly, inserts the correct marker, and places them on the correct layer. But the marker is dashed as well and not continuous. Is something overriding this setting?
I've been able to successfully place R/W markers in my cross sections (as well as FO, TEL, GAS, Beam Guard). Where to find an Existing R/W marker ' EX R/W'?
How do you get a point marker that uses a block with attributes to show the attributed text?
We are using tree symbols that have the size of the tree as an attribute, but when the points that use that block come in...the block shows up w/out any attributed text. Tried to edit the "block" or point marker with attedit command, but C3D tells me it is not a block. Understand that it is a "marker" for the point. But, what is stopping the text size of tree from showing up?
On the Marker Tab of my point style, I set the Marker Size to 0.05".
Then on the Summary Tab, under the Marker Node, the Point Marker Size shows 0.004". If I change that to 0.05, like I have it on the Marker Tab, the point marker becomes huge. Why aren't these two settings the same?
Another question. When I reduce the Marker and Label sizes, the label doesn't "suck in" to the marker. How can I bring the label closer to the marker without dragging it?

In previous versions of Civil 3D there was a grip on the point marker that allowed me to rotate the block used as a point marker, where did this grip go in 2013? How can I rotate an individual point marker without having to create a separate point style?
Essentially, what I am looking for is the easiest way to label control lines and right-of-way lines in section view. In the past, I have used profile grade lines to do this - with a customized Marker Style for each alignment. On projects with 40+ alignments, this leads to a lot of blocks and marker styles to wade through. What I'd like to know - Is there a way to display a point name (read from a MarkedPoint) in section view using marker labels? Here's how I see it working (theoretically):
Define the following two point codes for use in my Code Set Styles: ALGN and ROW. Each would be assigned a Marker Label Style (let's call them A & R) in the Code Set. I'd like this label to display the point name in section view. For example, I'd like to insert a marked point on the centre line; Point Code = ALGN, Point Name = L100. However it doesn't seem that the Marker Label can read the "Point Name" field. Am I missing something really simple, or is this just not doable?
I import a csv file into my drawing and all the points and figures get drawn correct and on the correct layers.
But I end up getting some extra things also:
1. a little white circle comes in from the marker styles. it comes in on layer V-SURV-NTWK
2. i also get an extra white line that comes in on layer 0.
I have stopped these things from happening now by hitting the light bulb for the "basic" Marker Style and the "basic" Feature Line Styles. But i would really like to know what the Marker Style and Feature Line Styles are and what they are there for.
I am trying to change the default label styles for AddSegmentLabel under general styles using .NET...
Dim X As Autodesk.Civil.Settings.SettingsCmdAddSegmentLabel = CD.Settings.GetSettings(Of Autodesk.Civil.Settings.SettingsCmdAddSegmentLabel)()
X.Styles.LineLabel.Value = strChildStyleName ... says name does not exist
or
X.Styles.LineLabelStyleId.Value = oidChildStyle ... "The type of objectId is wrong"
If I manually change it to a child style and then check the values, they are the same as what I'm trying to set them to. If you use a "parent" style then these both work. Am I doing something wrong or this another limitation?

Is there any way to increase the size of the marker that shows up on the plan view when you select a PI in the elevation editor? It is so small that if I have the feature line selected I can't see the marker over the highlighted line. I generally have to zoom to a PI so I can see where I am.
Is there a reason why the "node" osnap won't recognoze certain point markers? I have recently begun using named plot styles and I have been revising some of our markers to reflect this. I have noticed that some of the point markers (it seems like markers that use a circle as part of the marker) won't show the node marker no matter how I hover around it. Others seem to be normal.
C3D 2012 SP3..I want to label the subassembly I have created. It is easy enough to create the label style and apply it through the code set styles. I want to drag the labels for pavement depth, creating a leadered situation. Why does the program create multiple labels for each marker or link? Can this be limited to one lable for the marker and link?
am in the process of setting up a standard file for all designers to use our local office. This file will have most of the styles created for profiles, alignments, surfaces, profile views, etc... as mostly specified by the customer and industry standards.
I am having trouble maintaining the correct annotation scale in the viewport in paperspace and when plotting.
The attached word document has 3 figures. Fig 1 shows the correct viewport scale and correct annotation scale. Fig 2 shows how the annotation scale abruptly changes during the plotting process. This abrupt annotation scale change sometimes happens during the regen process or when I switch from layout to model space and back to layout. The annotation scale goes from 1:1 to 1:40 just as in the viewport. This change in annotation scale is not supposed to happen because I want to preserve a certain plotting height for my text versus a viewport scale by using various annotation scales.
I have researched the procedures for annotation scale and have not found any info related to this "abrupt change in annotation scale".
Curiously , this abrupt change in annotation scale does not happen if the text does not belong to any styles within Civil 3D. Stand alone text stays at the correct annotation scale and is not affected in the same way.
I have AutoCAD 2011 now and I am not sure where the Dimention style edit (to show in all dimention lines I am using) is...what I have to do now is to change each line EVERY time I dimention any thing.
the other thing is how to scale the drawign in viewport. In older versions it shows easily. Where is it in this one!?
I have a drawing with several layouts, and in one particular layout only, I want the text to be smaller than the annotation scale would dictate (the viewport is 1"=300', but I want the text to display at 1"=50' annotation scale).
I tried selecting the viewport and changing the "annotation scale" property to 1"=50', then the "standard scale" property to 1"=300'.
Strangely, this seems to work for a bunch of MText objects I have in the drawing, but it won't work for an alignment station label group or for a particular linetype...for some reason, those two things insist on having their annotation scale equal to the viewport scale.
I tried messing around with the alignment station label group's style but couldn't figure anything out. As far as the line/linetype, I'm completely at a loss why that one wouldn't change.
I'm trying to plot 3D objects with hidden lines. I've set the viewport SHADE PLOT property to "Legacy hidden" and set my visual style to 2D Wireframe with 2D Hide-Occluded Lines linetype set to "Dashed". The hidden lines do appear, but I don't like the size and spacing of the dashes. Is there a way to add "Hidden" linetype to the selected visual style? Or perhaps there's a way of adjusting the linetype scale for visual style occluded lines (similar to LTSCALE or PSLTSCALE command)?
How can I get the channel subassembly to attach to the assembly insertion point at the channel flowline marker? I need the flowline to follow my profile elevations.
I am trying to scale down a table by half and "scale factor doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong ? it always come in original size and not scale - I tried to put the line before transaction and after appent and before , Here is Code.
Using tr As Transaction = Mydb.TransactionManager.StartTransactionDim btr As BlockTableRecord = tr.GetObject(Mydb.CurrentSpaceId, Open Mode. ForWrite) btr.AppendEntity(tb) tr.AddNewlyCreatedDBObject(tb, True)tb.ScaleFactors = New Scale3d(0.5) tr.Commit() End Using.
