AutoCAD Civil 3D :: File History Is Not Populating
Feb 22, 2013In Civil 3d 2011 I have always used the windows start menu file history to open recent documents. Its no longer populating that field, but other windows applications are.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Parcel List Not Populating After Sort?
Apr 2, 2013I went to sort my parcel list in the prospector by label and doing so made all the parcels vansih from the list. I have turned off show preview. I expand the site to get to parcels. I click on parcel but nothing appears in the prospector. The parcels are in the drawing. I can view each one in preview. The list was there until I tried to sort them.
If I do a refresh they try to come back for a split second then are gone again. A restart does not make a difference

point# | X | Y | Desc_1 | Desc_2 | Desc_3 |....... ect
I would like to make an excel table that i can create multiple points from and make that table dynamic, ie if i edit the table the points will change.I would be labeling the points according to the different desc_# in multiple drawings
Is there any way to do this? I have messed with creating a user defined property classification and creating a new point file format, but i want that point file I imported to be dynamic, and if I change values the values will change in all my drawings.

I want to populate my title block with scale, but when I try to edit the text in the format dialog box "view label properties" is not an option see attachment untitled 2. Jan 8, 2014So im populating a listview. The difference between VBA & .Net if massive....... In my Listview, i have 2 columns. I need to do 2 things-
1. select the first row of the newly populated listview
2. select the value from the selected row in the second column

Photoshop :: Couldn't Use History Brush Because History State Doesn't Have A Corresponding Layer
Aug 20, 2013I am trying to learn layers and layer masks. I loaded an image, than control J to duplicate it. I then added a layer mask. Everything good so far. I then went to filters chose a blur. Then went to brushes with black as my foreground color, I just wanted to brush away the blur, and got an error message. "could not use the history brush because the history state does not have a corresponding layer."

Mar 24, 2013Everytime I try to use my history brush, that error pops up and I have no clue why. If I try to just open a blank document and use the brush it does not give me this error and I can "use" the brush but you cant see anything on the project.
so when this error happens im trying to do a project and say I place a file(picture) into the project and this is the very first thing I do. I place it, then I size the image down some. I then make a new layer to use the brush for behind the picture and then this is when I get the error. I have no clue what is wrong

Mar 26, 2012I've been killing myself with trying to get the following (acet-getvar '("BNS_EDITTIME_TOTAL")) in standard time format
rather than julian and then printing it to a file. I never found a way. So I'm figuring the next best thing is to just run the edittime command and then set a custom variable to report the last line of the command history. Then I can open a file and print it to the file. But alas my skills are lacking.

Dec 6, 2010I already have a cut list template in Excel that calculates my stock material, volume, etc when I populate the appropriate fields. It is also connected to an access database that has various information that automatically generates the final price of my product based on various suppliers prices and data with whom I do business with and so on.
I would like to know if there was a way with iLogic to make Inventor populate specific cells with information found in the BOM such as: description; Qty and custom iProperties value like dimensions, etc?
The reason why I'm making a new topic out of this is that I have read previous post about the issue, but they were regarding "exporting the BOM to an excel". I, on the other hand, would like to populate an already existing spreadsheet with data from the BOM
After exploring the iLogic snippets, I've only found the "export" option. It referenced the API snippets, but with limited programming knowledge there is not much I can understand.

I have given Photoshop a break quite sporadically over the years.... but now I have come back in an attempt to unleash the wrath of its power and so far I have been quite impressed. Generally all I need to do is think "I wish there was a feature to do this" then apply usually not much more than a few seconds of discovery to locate the actual that exist previously unbeknown to me....
With the work I am doing right now the history and history brush feature is proving very useful... However sometimes not being able to save my history when I close photoshop or take a extended break... has proven to cost me hours of time.This is utterly unacceptable. I really hope CS6 fixes this. How can Adobe make such a great software with such a blatant flaw?

Feb 28, 2009i'm using PSCS4 and i'm trying to delete the "history" portion that was originally saved in my XMP data. i've gone to the "file info"->"advanced" window pane (tab) and deleted the "history" folder (like you suggested in your article a photoshop history lesson"), but the folder continues to reappear with all the initial history data. it appears like i delete the history folder, but then when opening up the "file info" window again, all the history is there like it was before i attempted to delete it.

The manual says that "As you edit your images, Photoshop Elements automatically keeps track of the file's edit history and adds this information to the file's metadata". That's what I want. But when I look in the History tab in the File Info, it's always blank.
How do I get it to turn on and keep track of the edits I've made to the image? (Note -- I'm not talking about the Undo History panel -- that works and shows the edit history. I'm talking about the History tab in "File Info".)

Jun 16, 2012would it be possible sometime in Paint.Net to save/export to the clipboard the history box as a text list of what we did ?
since I use many effects and settings in a given PDN, I sometime wants to write me some notes about how i did something and the steps i used to do it, before my old memory lets me down.
I know that the PDN it self has the history, but now I need to go over all the list and manually write/type down in notepad the list , which most of the time is very long.
Having the ability to save/export the history box text to a file or to the clipboard, make it easy to edit the list and keep track/notes of steps and ways to do something.
I don't need the settings used in the effect/adjustments , but just the TEXT names of the steps taken as shown in the history box.

This will populate a drop down with "Printer, Printer, Printer, Printer" for each printer instead of the name of the printer (which is what I want).
When I try:
var printerList = app.printerList.name;
I get a drop down of blank entries.
How exactly does the printerList work?
Photoshop :: History Brush Only Painting White On Picture Instead Of Colors From Text File?
Jul 2, 2013I am working on a project for my online class and am having difficulties with the History Brush. Note that both files are identical in size etc.
1. I created a color text file and saved it with a specific name.
2. I copied an existing photo from iPhoto, as I couldn't import into PhotoShop, and pasted it in a new file. I then removed the white background layer and then saved it with its now specific name and closed the file.
3. I re-opened the Color Text File.
4. I then re-opended my photo.
5. I performed a "Select All" from the menu bar of my active Photo then selected Edit - Copy and then closed my Photo file.
6. From my Color Text File I selected Edit and then Paste from the menu bar.
7. I selected Layer and Flatten Image from the menu bar.
8. I right clicked the background image from the Layers Panel and created a snapshot (which is my photo)
9. I selected the History brush and verified that this also displayed in the gray box associated with the Color Text file within the History Panel.
10. I verified that my photo image was displayed in my work area.
11. I start to fill the photo with my History Brush and the only color I get is White.

Sep 20, 2005how do I insert text faster? Attached is a screen capture of my set-up. I am bulding a plaque. how to set up "pre-determined" text fields that populate from an internal or external text? Right now I have to >duplicate layer>drag layer to new spot>enter in new text. It would be really neat if PS could populate from a file like web-site populate pages from other text files.

Apr 24, 2013I'm using Autocad Civil3D 2011, Version 3. Just yesterday I noticed that the file date shown in Autocad's open file dialog box shows an earlier time than Windows Explorer, which shows the file date and time correctly. When I enter the "time" command on the autocad command line, the correct time is shown for the "last updated" time.
For example:
The Autocad open file dialog box shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 3:54 PM
Windows Explorer shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 4:10 PM
"TIME" command at autocad prompt returns the following:

I rebooted and restarted autocad, and resaved my file with the same results (although with different times-but again the autocad open file dialog box showed an incorrect, earlier time). I have never had this problem before, and it is driving me crazy as I usually sort my files by date to assure that I am working with the latest file.

So I brought home the DWG as well as the ENZ file thinking that if both were in the same directory, it would work OK. But I get an error saying the Point file can't be found. I can't see any way to make the file reference relative, rather than absolute.

Jul 8, 2013Civil 3D 2013.One of the problems my team has is that we have a number of remote offices that all work on the same drawings. To ensure integrity of the drawings, we use a Wide Area file replication and locking service to ensure the files do not become out of sync and corrupted between offices.
AutoDesk seems to open and save files and their subordinate xrefs serially in a single thread instead of in a multi-threaded manner. Because of this there is a Huge time impact on just opening and saving files at remote sites as a result of Civil 3D having to wait for the home office file lock check on each and every file before opening the next file.
We have 100Mbit down / 20Mbit up transmission links at both sites dedicated to the file replication, with Gbit backbone in both offices.
note that the remote site has a full copy of all files in its replicated share. These local files are what Civil 3D is opening. No Files are being transferred during file open unless a remote change has just occurred (proven through replication logs).
When the drawing file is opened for editing, a file lock check is performed and Windows waits for the response to ensure it can be opened for editing before telling Civil 3D. When Civil 3D has this file open, it has a list of all the xrefs for this file. Civil 3D then seems to open each file in sequence.
This is a problem when a large latency is introduced through our 3rd party Wide area file system by a remote site file lock check.
This is not AutoDesk's fault but the compounding of the two system's operational behaviours, causing a Very long wait on file open, Save, PaperSpace operations (30 minutes for large drawings).
I would like to see a multithreaded (threadpool) file open occur against the entire list of xrefs (during save as well). Then recursively executed for all subordinate xrefs of those files until the operation is complete.
As long as a file list is maintained during the operation and updated as each file operation completes (which obviously it is) in the primary thread, this should not cause any problem. All dependancies can be opened in sequence once the initial file operations are complete and when a particular file in the list is required but not open yet, it's priority can be raised in the threadpool.

Aug 24, 2012I'll go and open a file and I'll rename a drawing file while in that dialog box. I will then open the drawing I renamed or any other drawing and work fine for awhile. I will usually crash within that session at some point.
