AutoCAD Inventor :: Fill Area With Hatch Patterns In Feature Sketch?
Feb 4, 2013Is it possible to fill an area with hatch patterns in a feature sketch (ipt sketch), not in idw sketch?
I want to show a safety screen (wire mesh) in a 3D model, in order to reduce the file size, I do not want to do solid wire mesh in the model, but the sketch only. I was drawing one by one line and make a hatch cross lines in the sketch, it took me lots of time to draw these lines.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Cut / Fill Volume Report?
Jul 11, 2013I have created surfaces for my original ground and my corridor. Both have appropriate boundaryies and the TIN looks good for both. I am trying to create a volume report through Volume Dashboard. I am able to create the volume surface with no issues but the numbers it comes up with do not seem correct. I can see from my profile that there is a small fill but the software seems to create a fill that is almost half of all the material when my profile shows there is more cut.
I tried creating a sample line group...it also shows the majority is cut. The only thing I can think is that there are about a dozen areas where my daylight does not work. how to do this volume correctly?

I'm at the stage where good Civil 3d practices need to be employed when generating volumes. Attach are two files showing a road section with links and layers & also, the profile.
1. Like to turn off the links first of all and show labels instead.
2. How does the total depth of the gravel road (0.3' for gravel, 0.5' for aggregate base) factor in the profile view? What shown is the EG(in green) and FG,the top of the gravel road.
3. The cross section view: Three surfaces were used, the top of the gravel, the bottom of the base and the Existing ground, Is this correct?
4. Is there two sets of Volumes? 1. Cut and Fill areas, 2. Pavement structure: Volume of the gravel and volume of the aggregate base.
5.Refer to 4. So the Cut and Fill areas need to be done first, then the pavement structure, correct. ?

Sep 4, 2012I'm to compare volumes in c3d to Inroads. My volumes are not matching ( cut and fill are not even close). Civil 3D uses the average end area and InRoads uses 'triangle method' to calculate the total volume. How can I get C3D volumes to match InRoads which is verified correct?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Missing Hatch Patterns In Hatch Library?
Jan 2, 2013Just downloaded Autocad 2013 and am missing quite a few of the standard hatches (siding, soldier, board and batten, etc.) What should I do to get them back. When I open old drawings with these hatches in them, they load just fine...but I am unable to hatch any new areas with these hatches (because they are not listed in the hatch library)

Feb 23, 2012I used to be able to hatch most anything without problem. Now with Civil 3d 2011 anything more complex that a box or a circle AutoCAD will not find the boundary even when the quick preview seems to find a boundary.
I've tried overlapping the lines and then trimming. I've tried extending to the other lines. I've tried setting the tolerance to 1/2". I've checked that the lines are snapped to endpoints and meet cleanly.
In testing I've found that sometimes it will find the boundary, and other times it will not even when nothing has changed? Noticing that they have to try multiple times and methods to get C3D 2011 to hatch correctly?
The attached file shows the different results (boundaries extracted from successful hatches) that I'm seeing, and sometimes can't find a boundary at all, sometimes it does. Seems to get different results when I regent and at different zooms (not sure if that's the correct terminology?).

Jun 18, 2012I'm working with TIN surfaces, doing cut/fill comparisons for a surface mine.
My volume surface statistics show a cut volume of 5167.22 cy and fill volume of 8456.18 cy.
The sample line group volume report show cumulative cut of 5527.67 cy and fill of 8465.56 cy.
What could be some causes of this disparity. All reference surfaces are built from points and use a non-destructive boundary.

Jul 15, 2013I have two, seemingly identical, installations of AutoCAD LT 2012 on two machines in our office. Both machines have the MEASUREMENT variable set to 1.
The acadltiso.pat file of both machines has been customized with the addition of two hatch patterns and both of these work just fine.
In addition, the support folders of both installation also have identical sets of custom hatch patterns. On one of these machines thumbnails for these are visible and all works entirely as expected. However, on the other machine, none of these custom hatch patterns appear at all. In fact I cannot even see the custom hatch pattern tab!

Apr 24, 2013I want to use it as my primary hydrologic and hydraulic modeler. It only makes sense. Well, I got the program to work and had things linked in and was able to route a storm through the network. But when I routed the storms, I had to model double the storage that i expected.
So I went back to the program I'm familiar with - Pondpack by Benltey - and designed the same system I routed in SSA in that program - and got the storage volume that I would expect for a site of this size - about 2 acres.
Is there possibly a setting that I'm missing that makes my outlet structures route slower or less than they should? Or is there some other reason that a system would give this kind of inflated need for storage?

Feb 25, 2013I have an issue with using Bounded Volume or Adding a Boundary to Volume Surface things so bad... = incorrect volumes.. sometimes extremely incorrect.. I understand that the surface rectangle when a boundary is added but this could be horrible if not checked.

Dec 22, 2013Our engineering department users are facing this problem that the hatch patterns are not visible. Everytime they have to use the FILL command when they open any drawing. They are facing this problem with some dwgs, when anybody else opens the same drawing this happens again. After that they are unable to see the hatch patterns in any drawing. After using FILL it becomes visible but restrting the AutoCAD reverts the setting back so they unable to see the hatch pattern again. After opening that dwg in all files they are unable to hatch.

Jan 13, 2009I am trying to load hatch files from StoneCAD. In the past I have been able to take hatch patterns from various sources and locate them in a file within AutoCAD LT, then use them without issue.
I have never touched a .pat file or written anything in notepad or word, just simply copied the .dxf files to a file on my computer and was able to use them through AutoCAD LT 2009. Recently I had to reload the software and I can't figure out where I would go to put these hatch files.
