I use civil 2012, and have a drawing with over 400 attribute blocks that are all set to be "green" in the enhanced attribute editor, properties tab. I would like for all of the attributes to be set to "by layer". However, I find that the it only allows me to change one block at a time. As said earllier, I have over 400 blocks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded (not sure it was truely an upgrade) to LT 2013. When double-clicking an attribute in LT 2009 a nice dialog box popped up that could be tabbed through to each attribute. In 2013 the Enhanced Attribute Dialog box will not allow tabbing, you have to physically click on each attribute item then go to another spot in the box and click again to make the change.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis time I'm wrestling with getting the values from multiple blocks. The blocks all have the same name but at least the attributes have names this time. Each block have exactly 4 attributes, like: att1 (a number representing chronological order), att2 (some data), att3 (the actual date as a string of when the data was added), att4 (some more data)
I need to get and store the attribute's values. I was hoping to make a selectionset of the blocks and step through using the chronological order number.
At this point I have tried several combinations of foreach and ssget "x" (list (cons 2 MYBLOCK)), but I keep getting errors that I'm sure are telling me that I'm not passing the correct information to the function for iterating through. I'm banging my head.

I having one DWG with in 50 layouts. In that, if i going to edit or change the date, description, and etc, means it will take too much time to update in all layouts (50nos.)
If possible to edit all layout with in one time?. One more thing, one type of title block used to all layouts and title block was with enhanced attribute text.
When in the attribute editor, after you edit an attribute then click "select blocks", to choose a new block to edit, an alert appears telling you that an attribute in the block has changes and asks if you want to save these changes. I ALWAYS want to save these changes...
Therefore, my question is, is there a way to turn that alert off or suppress it?
I was given a customers title block but there are no defined attributes. I'm using AutoCad Electrical 2010. I have to double click on the title block and the edit block definition box pops up. I select the block to edit and click ok. I would like to use the enhanced attribute editor on these title blocks. Is there a way to define the attributes on this kind of title block using the enhanced attribute editor?

I have a block which includes some Multiple lines attributes.
Now I don't want them to be multiple lines any more.
How can I change them to single line attribute?
In the block editor, the "Multiple lines" in the properties palette is gray out. I have create single line attribute and replace the multiple line attributes one by one.
Why don't make the Multiple lines property editable? This problem is since Multiple line attribute first time introduced.
Interesting thing is single line attributes can easily changed to multiple line attributes through the properties palette!
We have a few hundred drawings that we need to change certain block attributes. We need to change the valve of the text in that attribute from whatever it is (doesn't matter what it is) to a specific text string.
For example: If the attribute is called "name" and has the text string of ALAN in it in some drawing or BRUCE in other drawings, we want to chaneg all drawings to TOM.

In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks? Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA? The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.
Explode will not retain the value of the field.
Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.
You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM. So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.

I have about 100 blocks. They are different in many ways, but all have multiple linear distance parameters, and these have the distance max set to lengths (all of them have different lengths).
I'd like to be able to change the distance max without having to open each block and do this manually.
Is it possible to export block info into Excel and then change it in Excel, and reimport into AutoCAD, saving the new information?
Or is there another way, through Lisp or some other part of AutoCAD that I don't know about?
We've just started using an attribute in a dynamic block and I'm curious if there is a faster way to edit the text, like how you just click outside the dtext or mtext editor to save and exit. the editor.
We only need to edit the value field, not any of the other attritubes. I really like how the dynamic block is saving us some time, but the outdated editor is really irritating, and it's not always convenient to hit Tab then Enter on the keyboard.
Is there perhaps an alternate editor, or a way I can edit the value text in the mtext editor by default rather than opening up the Enhanced Attribute Editor?

I have a dwg that is converted from vectorworks with 100+ blocks of different names. All line-weight and color is set to 0.00mm and white.
I want to be able to organize multiple Block into same layer so I can color them by layer and change visibility (hide/Lock) by layer. but when I select everything to organizes "by layer" only non-block line can be organized.
Is there a way I can change multiple block into same layer without exploding them?
I try:
1. select block and change layer in properties.
Failed.
2. "set to by layer"
Problem: layer of block is still not changed when open with reference edit.
Is it possible to change the length of a line based on the length of an attribute?
I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).

If we want to change the color of a block we have to open block editor and change the color from there.
If in a design we have 100 blocks and we want to change their color to the same (say black), how can we do that? Do we have to do it for every single block or can we select all 100 blocks and change the color uniformly?

1- crane model or base
2- crane boom has different lengths and needs to rotate at pivot point
3- crane jib has different length and offsets from the crane boom
You can do this in one block or do you need to have 3 separate blocks and just piece together?
I have the same block repeated multiple times in a drawing, and I want to delete the last attribute in all of the specific blocks. When I edit the block in block editor, the attributes do not show up. After I explode the block, there is no text. The attached image shows the properties of the block.

What I want is for the selection to fill multiple blocks in an active drawing. Some of the blocks are the same - which means the same tags/attributes. I've included the code that allows the user to select the block and throws the Excel selection to certain attributes.change the code so that
1) I don't have to manually select blocks - it will find them.
2) One cell (from Excel) will go to multiple blocks - some are same block name.
3) An IF statement that if a certain cell isn't blank/nil
(pretend it would be (nth 21 vl) change DESC11 to XYZ and DESC12 to ABC. I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). Whenever I add a block property table the window that should be opent doesn't open. The strange thing is that I think it actualy is open but i just don't see it on my screen. The same thing gous for the screen that allows you to ad a parameter to a lookup set. by folowing this link you can see what i mean, it gets interesting after 30 seconds.
