I've got a section marker (the letter designation with arrowheads pointing in the direction of the cut) that I cannot get to behave correctly.
When I set a parameter to one end with a move action, in order to have the arrowhead and attdef for the letter designation move upwards, all is well. When I try to do the same to the other end, the letter desingation attdef will not move.
Neither attdef is set to "Lock Position", so I'm puzzled why one works and the other end does not. I've tried a move action on both ends and a combination of move/stretch, but I can't get it to work.
new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
I have a drawing ("SURUBURI.dwg") with several dynamic blocks ("M12", "M16", "M18" ... an so on...). I want to insert in my current drawing, one of the blocks from SURUBURI.dwg, for instance the block named "M12".
For that i tried creating a new command "INSERT_M12" that has the following script :
I'm working on a dynamic door, that has specific parameters to change its size and orientation. Everything works pretty good, only the arc for the door won't react the way I want it.
So, while it wasn't common before, I am finding a need for multiple visibility states in blocks more and more these days, since AutoCAD can't do it I was wondering what work around and tricks people had come up with??
I have created a block with 3 different elements (A B C). This 3 elements are totally independents and they can be visible or invisible. Whit only one visibility parameters, there are 7 different visibility states:
xxC, xBx, xBC, Axx, AxC, ABx, ABC
If there are 4 or more elements there are too much possibilities.
I've tried to create 3 visibility parameters, but it's not possible.
¿How can i create independent visibility states for each different object in a block?
I am trying to create a dynamic block that allows me to insert a single rack into a drawing and make a single row of racking with all racks staying 9'-0" center of post to center of post. Also would like to be able to turn that one single row into a double row that spacing between rows can be modified. I have attached a cad file showing a single rack and two example, one of a row of double racks and one of a single row of racks. This rack is 48" deep i will also have to create this for a 60' deep rack so how i can create future rack sizes and rows.
I'd like to modify a dynamic door block I've created so that I can stretch by door leaf size OR structural opening size, but I'm not sure how to do this.
Incidentally, I think the block has some flaws:
- I think the 'center/flip point' is not exactly in the center! - The frame size should be 40mm, not 32mm - The packing zone should be 30mm, not 6.38mm!
I've been asked to create some plots of vector arrows showing the results from water current metres, ie each data point has a position (x and y only), direction and a velocity.
I have created a dynamic block to handle the vector data (a simple arrow with a stretch and rotate controls)
What I need now is to somehow read in the values for each block from an excel spreadsheet or txt file?

It seems like this should be easy but it's not. I have a block with multiple components. I want them to array sequentially as I drag the grip. First one component, then the next, then the next. What I get is all 3 at once when I drag the grip far enough. I tried 3 separate linear parameters with their grips stacked but that didnt work either. What I have attached is a very simplified version of what I want, but I think once I get the concept it will be easy to elaborate on.
I'm looking at a block which has multiple visibility states, 2 of which show a beam as a side elevation, where the beam can be stretched to give a length. This works well.
But I'd like to be able to have the beam stretching so the bottom flange of the beam can stretch relative to the top to give an angle to the beam end, and also have the lines representing the flanges (whose position will vary depending on the steel size) can also be stretched to give a neat cutoff.
Stretching the bottom of the bottom flange is easy, but I can't figure out how to stretch the inner lines? They would have to be moved a proportion of the distance which will vary between beam sizes/flange thicknesses, so putting in a fixed multiplication factor won't work. The mathematics to set a multiplication factor based on other elements of the dynamic block is easy, but is it possible to have such implemented on a varying basis?
Elevation showing what I want to do, and the block itself attached.
is there any way that Autocad can have multiple items placed on the clipboard for insertion use like the Microsoft Office Word programme has (up to 24 inputs). This would be a good feature to allow going to one file, copying what you need and then switching to your current drawing file and placing them as needed
I have a group of blocks, when I click the blocks I get the editable attribute pop-up box. I can now enter a text of my liking.
I have now made a dynamic block of these blocks, with a visibility states dropdown. So that only one block is shown at a time and when I need to change it I copy the block and use the dropdown button to select the one I need.
The problem I have is that the when I click the blocks from the dropdown only one of them allows me to use the editable attribute pop up window. The others say 'The selected block has no editable attributes'.
If I can't have multiple blocks with editable attributes in one dynamic block or if I can and have done something wrong.
I've attached the block so you can see what I mean. Single Socket allows editable attributes others wont.
I try to create dynamic block of Tectus hinges. Bassicaly I would like create multiple visibility block:
first grip - type of hinge (TE240, TE 340....)
second grib - type of view: elevation, side and plan.
For plan view I would like create third grip with options: close, open 90 deg, open 180 deg.
In attached file I'm started working on this. For now I focus on first two type of hinges TS240 and TS340. I'm close to realize my gola but still something doesn't work correct. If you play with grips sometimes block disappear on show as custom view.
What I'm interested in is finding a method of connecting several properties from several Autocad drawings to a single table. I would create several custom properties in each drawing and use some of them to fill the boxes in the drawing itself (already implemented) and some of them to fill the table which could later be printed or used in some other manner (maybe even combined with an ERP software interface). Some of the properties would be used both in the drawing and in the table. What I would really like to achieve is to be able to change the property values in the drawings by changing the values in the table and vice versa.
I know how to do it for one of the drawings but I don't know if it's possible to connect several? It doesn't have to be custom properties, it can also be a table in each of the drawing if it's easier to connect with a central table that way. I suppose the best way to gather all the drawings in one place would be to use Sheet Set Manager. A bit of a problem with the sheet set manager is that we have 5 layers set up for each of the drawings and I would like to import only one of them into the sheet set. The thing is picking them by hand would take time and that's the thing I wanted to avoid in the first place. Is there maybe an option to use only import the last active layer into the sheet set?
I have a library of dynamic blocks that we use for various systems. Each dynamic block has roughly 50-100 visibility states. Sometimes I need to use previous drawings for a new phase of work and the symbols that were previously new are now existing and need to have the letter "E" next to it to indicate as existing.
Currently I have duplicate dynamic blocks for "existing" and "re-located" blocks. This seems redundant and would be much more logical to select a number of devices and simply change a visibility to either new, existing, or re-located. However, I cannot think of how to do this unless either with an attribute or a second visibility pulldown.
we have moved from AutoCAD MEP 2012 to AutoCAD 2014 recently using Dynamic blocks with multiple visibility states.
in 2012 we could select a dynamic block with a specific visibility state and select similar, it would only select the visibility state that was previously selected.
in 2014 that is no longer an option WTH?
i have tried a couple of system variables to no avail (pickadd, selectionmode)2014
I received some outsourcing drawings which include this block. All time if I try do some edits in block editor size of this block changed. Also if you reset this block, size changed. What is wrong with this block?
i'm trying to work with a block by changing the x or y value in properties -- but when i do, the block disappears. i don't work with blocks very often, but someone i'm working with sent me his blocks and i can change the height or width very easily in the properties window -- and his blocks don't disappear!
I've made annotative blocks and I've made dynamic blocks... My intent is to integrate both but I can't find a way to move dynamic block parameters separately at different annotative scales.
In other words, if I insert an annotative dimension and add multiple scales I can move the dimension grips independently at each scale. If I insert a dynamic block I want to be able to use the dynamic block's action "grips" to do the same. However, with a dynamic block, if I move a stretch action at one annotation scale it moves the action at all annotation scales.
I try create simple block where I change dimensions of polylines. Everything work with stretch partameter until I try use search parameter for change dimension.
I have 4 Dynamic Blocks with the same name, but each are on different layout pages. I need to change the visibility state of all 4 to the same value. So far every attempt of mine has failed.
My process at this point is to: build a selectionset of all 4 Dynamic Blocks with the same effective name, convert the selectionset to a list of entity names, then use a foreach to change the visibility states one at a time. Currently, I get "error: bad argument type: lselsetp <Entity name: 7ffff7b6c90>". <Entity name: 7ffff7b6c90> is the entity name of the first block in the list. I'm guessing it's because the block is found on a non-current tab
(defun chgdynprop (e propname newval / obj v vval sal tot i) (setqobj (if(= (type e) 'vla-object) e (vlax-ename->vla-object e))) (if (= (vlax-get-property obj
I have created a dynamic block with several visiblility states. The block works great for what I need it for. however, I am trying to add one more action to the block but am having issues.
This block is essentially a 24" retail cabinet with the visibility states showing the different drawer and shelf configurations. I want to be able to lengthen the cabinet in 24" increments and have the visibility show for each 24" section.....e.g. I want a 10' cabinet so I bring in the 24" starter block. Then stretch the cabinet to the 10' mark, then I can chose any drawer/shelve config for each 24" section (they are all different).
I can get the block to stretch in 24" sections....no problem.....i just want the visibility state to be duplicated as well for each section. Now as it stretches, there is only one Vis state and it only populates the first cabinet.
I could do this by copying the block over and over 5 times.....but I am hoping there is a way to make this dynamic.
I have a block I am making into a Dynamic Block. I will be adding in different visibility states. Depending on the visibility state the block would need to be inserted from a different point.
My question is, is it possible to add multiple insertion points to a dynamic block so depending on the visibility state it defaults to the correct insertion point?
