AutoCAD 2013 :: Shuts Down After Closing A Drawing

I am using Windows 7 64 bit laptop. When I close a drawing just after saving in AutoCAD 2013 64 bit, the program crashes. This will happen with one drawing open, or several. I also had this problem with 2011.
I have been using AutoCAD for 16 years and never had this problem with previous versions on earlier operating systems.
When ever I try to modify a hatch from a previous version I get a fatal error message and the program shuts down. I have opened the same files in 2012 and have no problem changing the hatch patterns.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout 50% of the time, I get a crash when closing a drawing. When this happens, I get the following message: "AutoCAD LT Application has stopped working". This has been going on for sometime now and sometimes I am prompted to report the error, sometimes not. Everything shuts down, so if I have several drawing files open, I will loose any changes made unless I do a hard save for each one (which I have gotten used to doing).
I have the same problem with my license of Architectural Desktop 2004. My version of LT is 2011, running Windows 7 Pro, 64 Bit.
I am using Inventor 2014. I am receiving an error while closing a drawing. The error says "One or more drawings are being computed and are currently in raster state. The document(s) may be closed and pending updates will resume when the document is reopened.
Do you wish to continue closing?"
The drawing shows outdated views which I tried updating but they do not update. When I am trying to print the drawing, it shows incomplete drawing.
My AutoCAD closes down when closing a drawing (yes I AM selecting the right x). It happends with larger drawings and more often in layouts.

2012 LT about a year old, just recently started shutting off/closing unexpectedly during a drawing command (pline, copy, offset etc...) or when using numeric keys on keyboard. seems like everything else works ok. no error messages. nothing. just dissapears.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a prob with my system in that when I close a drawing with a 3d view in a viewport and reopen it, I lose the 3D view and it flattens out, maintaining the view but losing all perspective. I can easily restore the saved view, but it is bit irritating.
View 4 Replies View RelatedQuick one on Dynamic blocks.... we are using Dynamic blocks more and more as a company, we are finding that when in a drawing which contains lots of dynamic blocks, then go into Dynamic Block Editor - amend the block - Then when closing the block Editor to get back into the drawing the drawing goes really slow untill we close it down and restart it.
Is there a setting we need to change OR is there something obvious that we are missing. i.e should we be minimizing the amount of dynamic blocks in our drawings or uncomplicate them?
I am using Autocad 2014 Architecture and have a 3D drawing with approximately 70 surfaces. If I close the drawing and reopen it 10 to 15 of the surfaces has disappeared. What this could be?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe sold a customer a new Dell Precision Laptop - i7 16GB Memory, 512GB Solid State hard drive, Windows 7 64bit. He had upgraded to AutoCad 2013 from 2006. Since installing the laptop when he closes out of a drawing Autocad crashes, windows reports that the program had unexpectedly quit. It doesn't do it all of the time, but it could have something to do with multiple drawings, plotting etc, but it's not an easy one to generate. He does have an older plotter - DesignJet 500 that's installed through a network share off of another computer however I did completely remove the printer / driver and the issue was still occuring.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSubject pretty much sums it up. AutoCAD will crash 8 out of 10 times when I close a sheet set. This problem just recently started and the only thing I've installed was AutoCAD Map 3D.

I turned off the command line because I don't use it or need it on my screen. But each time after I do a plot preview the stupid thing automatically turns itself back on.
Is there a way to permanently turn this thing off because apparently hitting the "x" on the toolbar isn't working correctly.
Also, why did they do away with the flyout option on the commandline. At least then I could dock it somewhere and collapse it.
We are currently using autocad 2013 LT on windows 7 64bit. The program runs a bit slower than 2012 but the main issue is as follows.
when closing a drawing or multiple drawings (wether they have been recently saved or not) autocad will go into a "not responding" mode and then crash out. This happens at about 70% of the time and is completely random. It may crash a drawing one time but not the next time you are in the same drawing, or when closing multiple drawings may allow you to save some of them when cad closes but then crashes before all of them are saved. We have all of the current updates and fixes. We had the same issue with 2012 but not nearly as often.
I am operating 3D Civil with Windows 7, 64-bit system.
Most of the time when I close a drawing, particularly when I have two or more drawings open, the program closes down with the following message "Autocad Application has stopped working - Windows is collecting more information about the problem"
I then have to restart 3D Civil
I have problem with 3 users from about 75. When using the publish command inAutocad 2010 (1 user) and Civil 3d 2010 (2 users) a temporary copy of the drawing is opened while the particular layout is being published but on completion this temporary copy of the drawing is not being closed. This is leading to problems when a user has lets say 5 drawings open that require publishing. When finished the user has 2 copies of each drawing open and sometimes my select the wrong drawing when making further changes.
I have tried a repair on Autcad but that did not work.
We are experiencing a problem that inventor goes none responsive when closing large assemblies. Typically the problems occurs on assemblies with typrical over 3000 parts. The only way to get out is to manual crash the program.
Our machines are some of the powerful machines that you purchase on the market with SATA III solid state drives so the problem is not with the machines.
Wish we never upgrade from 2012, Autodesk should be embarrassed with the performance of 2013
AutoCAD 2013, 60-90 days into it, upgraded from 2007.
I have 2 of 4 workstations with this issue, AutoCAD will automtically save the file when the files is closed, w/o any prompts to verify of we want to saved or not.
I have my Options|Autosave turned off, but this should not affect the save on close it should only create a continual ac$ backup file.
This is now the 2nd time this has occured. In early March we noticed this and in dealing with AutoCAD (Suscription Service) we finally deceided to restore AutoCAD to factory defaults, which did fix the issue at the time. However it also meant that I needed to retore all the pathways and our standards. Once completed, I paid particular attention to ensuring that AutoCAD was NOT saving the file on close and it was doing so up until earlier this week, when I noticed it SAVING on close again.
Now most of you might think, hey thats a good thing, however, we routinely will test modifications to our layouts on our working files, but dont want to actually modify those files and then we would simply close the drawing w/o saving thus ensuring that those mods were not saved.
In March, both 2007 & 2013 did this, however only my 2013 is affected now.
My AutoCAD 2012 installation has been doing this for a while, but I don't remember it always doing this:
After I close a drawing (if it is the last drawing open), by using either the "close" command or by clicking the "x" on the window, instead of going to the generic gray-stripe background it just shows what the drawing looked like before close. This keeps messing with my head, as I think AutoCAD has just stopped responding.
If you look closely, though, you can see that the "AutoCAD" and "Autodesk" labels appear on the drawing, but I don't immediately notice this because my drawings are more complex than the sample drawing I've attached.
See images below.
However, when I manually resize the application window (either by restoring or maximizing, or by draging the window edge, the application window refreshes to show the proper generic gray-stripe background.
System specifications: AutoCAD 2014 64-bit SP1, Windows 7 64-bit SP1, Intel Core i7-2600K, AMD FirePro V4900
16GB RAM, Crucial M4 SSD, 3 Dell Monitors (2 30" 2560x1600 & 1 20" 1200x1600)
Say I have a model and some layouts in a file.
I open the file to the model. My RAM usage is about 33%. Next, I open the first layout and my usage climbs to 43%. I open the second layout and my usage climbs to 52%. I open the third layout and my usage climbs to 62%.
I can go back and view the layouts already opened marginally faster then when first opening them, and my RAM usage will not increase.
If I continue to open new layouts, my computer will spend all its RAM holding these and freeze. My computer will suspend graphical processing and be forced to run on sips of RAM until all active commands are finished. But RAM usage will never decrease.
I have been working with my Windows Task Manager open in the corner, watching this happen. This way, I can save and close the file to clear the RAM and then proceed to reload the file and continue working on my file with 34 layouts.
I do not know if it is a function of storing the UNDO functions, or just how the program is designed, but this is a problem for me.
QUESTION
Is there a way to clear the UNDO or layout memory without closing and reloading the file? I do not have to close AutoCAD - just the file.
ATTACHEMENT
The attachement is a screenshot of my Task Manager.
I started with TM, browser, and AutoCAD open (I had already started writing this post)
I opened the file to the model.
Opened up 6 layouts (you can see the bumps)
Saved (you can see the tiny rise)
Closed the file, but not AutoCAD (precipitous drop ;] )
Lastly, I reloaded the file.
Windows 7 64bit w/ 64bit AutoCAD 2013
Recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2013 and drawings opened up fine. Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.
Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?
I recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.
As many of us seam to do the option to save by default to an older version of AutoCAD or universal DXF format is selected, my problem is however when you save an existing drawing a prompt appears asking if 'Drawing*.dxf last saved in AutoCAD 2004 format. Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

i download it successfully BUT nothing happened as usual on my CAD screen - tabs doesn't appear !
- i restart my AutoCAD many times.
- nothing appear in plug-in tab.
I am using AutoCad Architecture 2011 64bit, whenever i send a print job to the printer my Autocad says it has to shutdown.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had trouble installing the program on Windows 7 after aborting on the first try when an error message about a font issue appeared and I wanted to find out more info. It took four retries, rebooting and adjusting my security settings I have it installed as a trial version (I think), but when I try to launch the program it goes through the initiallization process each time and then shuts down just as it is launching. Do I uninstall and start again from scratch? I have experience in installing 2000LT and 2004LT on various computers over the years with out ever having an installation issue.
