I have received a drawing with a a layer's print icon grayed out in the layer manager. I can print anything from that layer and I do not know how to switch on printing for that layer. What must I do and what does the grayed printer icon mean?
View 2 RepliesI have a client experiencing a layer manager dialog box issue - the layer names are disappearing... This is not happening all the time - and in different files.
I have attached an image below.
I remember that there used to be a command I used in an older version of AutoCad, such as "Sort Layer" or similar that would populate all of the layers used in a drawing, which solves the problem of not being able to see all the layers. I believe the default value is not set at a high enough number. What this command is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 states setup in the Layer States dialog box. I have even edited them to make sure they are setup. But, when I choose one and hit the Restore button, they don't. However, if I go thru the command line, they do work. Is the layer states dialog broken in 2013?

Most our our plans sets have several (10+) plan sheets, all with the same reference drawings and layer states (properties) setup. Currently, if we need to change a particular color of a single layer, we need to open up all of the plans sheets individually and change the color (or import a layer state). This takes a lot of time.
We are looking for a third party program where we can run a batch program to update the layer states of several similar drawings automatically, without opening each individual drawing.
As I recall, in previous versions of AutoCAD, when I am in the Layer Properties Manager and I click on an xref under the Xref heading, the only layers shown were the ones in that xref, not all.
That is what is happening now. I cannot seem to find any setting under the settings for the Layer Properties Manager that would change this.
On Layer Manager can't see VP Color and VP Linetype see picture.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently loaded Autocad 2013 and am having trouble with the text showing up in the Layer properties manager dialogue box, all information about the layers is whited out.
Is this a transparency setting?
I am unsure what to change/set to correct this so I can see layer informaion in the dialogue box.
I have been having this issues as of recently, and i am now no longer able to use my "Layer Properties Manager"
Every time that i try to open the "LPM" it gives me an error that says
I have never seen this error before but its making it very miserable for me to have to seperate my work in layers without the use of the "LPM"
I have already un-installed & re-installed twice frankly i don't have anymore time to do this because i have deadlines i need to meet and its becoming a very big pain.
Why is it, when I restore a layer state to a blank drawing, it cannot load the linetypes saved to those layers? I get an error that says Linetypes not loaded and then wind up with a full set of layers all with CONTINUOUS linetype.
If I bring in a block from a toolpalette that has a new linetype and layer, it will create them for me just by inserting the block. Am I missing something??

My Image tool icon is grayed out in Insert Panel of the IDW.
I created a sketch in the IDW & have no way to insert a graphic.I checked multiple files including a new file forma template & cannot get the Image icon to work, it's always grayed out.
Is there an option setting I need to change?
We really should have the ability to cut & paste into IDW's.
I am using Autodesk Inventor 2013 and for some reason I cannot access the precise input option. I can find the icon in the draw box, but it is grayed out and not clickable.

View 2 Replies View Related I work for a home builder and I receive the drawings in autocad format. Each house drawing comes in autocad but each floor plan and elevation is represented by a "layer state".
Each of these drawings has 7 to 9 pages and when I want to print each of those pages, I have to do it "one by one" as I have to switch between layer states.
So, each file has a layer state for: basement plan, main floor, second floor, etc. I want to find a way that I can print (convert to pdf), all these drawings, rather than going by each "layer state"
I have CorelDraw X4... I created a design like I always do, but I can't print. All the "Print" options are grayed out and won't let me use them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing where I need to open the layer manager to turn on a layer in a view port but cannot get to that particular column. As you look across the top of the layer manager I can see all the headings of each column beginning with "Name", "Status", "On" and so forth. The last column heading I see is "Description" but I need to go even further to the right to get to the column I need to be at but can't get there. There is no scroll button on the bottom of the layer manager which would allow me to do that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are many times you will "place" a picture file inside your Photoshop document, and want to resize it, put it in a different layer, or crop the image inside Photoshop - but you may find a simple error message or grayed out layer via copy/cut prevents you from doing so.
To do this, you will most often do this one of three ways:
1) Select the Marquee tool and outline the area of the image you want to copy or cut
2) Go to Layer > New > Layer via Cut/Copy
3) Click Ctrl+J
Many times, you will find none of these selections work. All options will be greyed out. You may be tempted to create a new layer, and then use one of these options in the new layer. In this case, you will get the error message "Could not make a new layer from the selection because the selected area is empty." All these errors are a result of photoshop not identifying pixels that you are trying to cut/copy.
There is a simple solution to this problem. Go over to the "Layers" box, and click on the layer listing for the layer where your newly placed image resides. Make sure your image is the only item in this layer, if not relocate the image into a new layer by itself. Right-click on the layer where your photo is located in the "layers" box and click on "Rasterize Layer".
Once you do this you will now be able to follow one of the steps above to Layer Via Copy or Layer Via Cut.
I'm using Autocad LT2012 and I have a problem with the "print to PDF" from the Sheet Set Manager.
The layouts are all set to "publish to a plotter" with the Layout option (not Window, Extent, etc.).vWhen I send the print to the plotter from the SSM, they print fine. If I send them to PDF, they are printed slightly off and one side is cut out.
I have tried on one of the layouts to change the plotting device from our plotter to "DWG to PDF" and indeed the drawing results to be slightly off, because the plotting area shifts. So, I guess this is the problem.
I have checked many forums and different solutions. One solution is to use Window or Extent as plotting area with Centred option on, so to avoid any cut due to shifts of the layout.
I have two questions:
1. Is there any way to work around this problem keeping the Layout plotting area option?
2. If there is not, how can I now change more than fifty layouts, that are now set on Layout, to Extent or Window, without having to go through them all one by one? (I tried the override option, but it really doesn't work as layouts are printed with different ctb and it keeps printing off, anyway)

this is how i usually duplicate a layer, by dragging and dropping to the new layer icon at the bottom of the palette. it is not letting me do that.
also, when i select a a single, or group of layers and move them around in the palette, i thought it used.
When I open a document, go to File > Print, the Print selection is grayed out, so I cannot print anything.

I can type "generateboundaryhatch" and that will work, but I like being able to click on the button while I am in the dialogue box rather than typing in the command.
