AutoCAD Inventor :: Precise Input Icon Grayed
Oct 23, 2012I am using Autodesk Inventor 2013 and for some reason I cannot access the precise input option. I can find the icon in the draw box, but it is grayed out and not clickable.

View 9 RepliesI saw another thread on this, but it went unanswered, so I am going to ask it with some better information.I installed inventor pro 2012, and it was working fine for a few days, but it now is missing the input boxes for the Precise Input window. URL....

My Image tool icon is grayed out in Insert Panel of the IDW.
I created a sketch in the IDW & have no way to insert a graphic.I checked multiple files including a new file forma template & cannot get the Image icon to work, it's always grayed out.
Is there an option setting I need to change?
We really should have the ability to cut & paste into IDW's.
I am trying to insert a JPG image in my IDW, but the "image" icon is greyed out?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy need is to create up to 50 points from the same origin in a three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system but I’d also like to have a labels for each point that show up in the feature tree.
Are there Inventor 2013 plugin (i.e., add-on, 3rd party, AP) to convert a list 3D Cartesian coordinate system locations (i.e., points) to Inventor to work points(x, y, z)?
I found that I cannot create 3D points in the assembly. Is this correct? I did find that an Inventor part may be used to create a 3D sketch that creates points in 3D space. In the past few days, I found two ways to create 3D points within a iPRT; the batch way uses an Excel file but it then does not allow me to name the points in the feature tree. The second way is to create them one at a time but that take way too much time.
To simplify lets say I have a square plate, vertically positioned. I have a square tube that I wish to cantilever off the plate and weld into place horizontally. EVERY time I bring that square tube in (lets say its a subassembly of its own rather than a part), it is precisely 1 inch below the top of the plate and 1 in in from the left edge.
make that happen where maybe I bring the part in and click on the two faces, it knows the other two contraints?
I am trying to use the 3D line tool in the Pipe and Tube section. I am using Inventor 2014 S1 and this tool is grayed out and I can't select it? The auto route doesn't follow the route that I want.

I am UNABLE to follow a tutorial on how to make a repeatable pattern using 'texture transfer' on some fire I want to make into a pattern!!! every time I select the area I want to use and the 'input map' and paste as new image and I tell Resynthesizer to use that image it ALWAYS errors out as "The Input Map Should Be The Same Size As The Input Texture Image" according to the tutorial another person gave me on this forum he said NOTHING about being the same size!!! in fact, his selection was SMALLER than the actual image that he was using Resynthesizer on!!!
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust thought I would post this since I didn't see it anywhere else. With Inventor 2009, the views in IDW are automatically set to associative which causes the visibility option for parts/assemblies to be grayed out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on an assembly with subassembly. But for some reason or another, I can't use adaptivity on some parts. It's not a problem to project the geometry from another part. But when I move that part (wich I have projected) the projection on my sketch doesnt move with it. And in Tools>DocumentSettings>Modeling is "Adaptively used in assembly" grayed out (so I'm not able to select it).
The parts where I have this issue are copies of similar parts which are used in other subassembly. I removed adaptively with the previous assembly after taking a copy.
I am having a problem with the design accelerator in 2014. The tab is there, but I cannot click any of the buttons to actually insert a frame or design some gears. They are all grayed out. The design Accelerator appears to be loaded in the add-ins screen. I am running Win 7 64 bit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to click on the "Iproperties" of an assembly but it is grayed out. It is not in a library, it is checked out of the vault, there is no lock icon if I use Iassembly tools (which I just installed to try the unlock.
If I place it in a parent assembly, I can then access the "properties" but it is difficult to do that workaround and I cannot do an update on the mass properties unless I can access the "Iproperties".

I am having problems with 2013 and trying to access the Stress analysis, when going into environments the tab is consistently greyed out. I made a very simple model and pasted the snips below.

I am very new to Autodesk products, I never used any of them before. I just purchased a student license and I downloaded Inventor Professional. This is the 2013 version, 64 bit edition. I also downloaded Vault Basic 2012.
I am trying to learn how to use these tools and one step in this process is to map the working folder in Inventor to Vault so files can be checked in and out, so I created a new vault, added users and groups, and that went without any problem.
Then, in Inventor I log in to this new vault. All the other buttons, (Open, Place, Check In and Check Out) are grayed out at this time. Reading the literature, I got the instructions to click on the Vault ribbon in Inventor, then on Access and "Map Folders". But at this point I cannot proceed because this menu item is grayed out as well.
In an assembly, you can type in offset values for a part or assembly via the properties occurrence tab. Why is the x y and z offset angle entries grayed out? Is there any time that these could be used?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Inventor 2009 64-bit SP2 and periodically (and only recently), I have had the problem of my keyboard keys not displaying what I am typing. This is only affecting Inventor and no other program to my knowledge. To make matters worse, it happens absolutely randomly. In fact, it happened just 4 minutes ago, which prompted this post! I was typing some words out and in the middle of the word, it changed what the inputted keys were. To give an example, the letter P comes in as L. The letter S, comes in as the letter G. The letter M comes in as semicolon. Catch my drift? At first I thought it changed to a Dvorak key setting, but even if that were the case (which it is not), why would it do it randomly?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a rectangular box in Autodesk Inventor 2008, shell it, and create a new sketch on any face and press E I expect to be greeted with the extrusion options. This does not happen, and a command alias input dialog appears in the status bar.
I really want to turn this off, since it has happened on other occasions as well. Since there's no other way to get to the extrusion feature, it completely halts my work.
Usually when I don't know what a feature is for and I'm not attempting to use it I expect to not see it- especially when I perform actions that don't usually bring it up. I'm not sure why the behavior has been put there. Hopefully it's not put into later versions (I've seen 2010 complaints as well) so someday an upgrade will remove the annoyance.
All I want to do is rotate one dimension. I want to leave all the others alone.
When I am editing my drawing, I double click on the dimension and get the diag box and unfortunately the rotate dimension command along with the degree box is grayed out.
Am using Inventor 2013. I have imported some surface models into an IAM. They are not visible in the idw. When I attempted to make them visible by right-clicking on the item in the idw browser, then selecting the "Include all Surfaces" option, the option was grayed out. How can this function be enabled?
Also, can "Include all surfaces" be enabled in advance for all surface models/all views in the idw so that it does not have to be done after creation of each view?
I'm having a real problem with a part I'm trying to develop:
I'm attempting to have a single timber part that has several draft face features within it, so I can control the bevelsa on the part with iLogic at a later date. The problem I'm having is that when the "running bevel" changes direction it throws out the bevels on the ends. (I've attached the file, it's very difficult to put into words.
But basically: When the running bevel is "forward" the end bevel measures 20degrees (as it should) When I flip the running bevel to "backwards" the same end bevel now measure 19.7degrees while the input parameter still says 20.
