In this moment I am gathering data in order to create a drawing. The data is located iin several files but the problem is that either I use external reference or copy-paste the data I will have duplicate information. How is possible to gather all the data in one file with no duplicate objects?
View 4 RepliesI had a few problems moving a project from 2012 to 2014. After a couple of tries I got everything set except the main alignment. When I originally used the Data Shortcut Editor to change the path of the shortcuts. I noticed that most of the paths were mostly UNC paths. So I replaced them with the current UNC path.
Now when trying to fix the one shortcut I've noticed that there is now a duplicate of the UNC path shortcut and one using the pathed network drive. So there is now a total of 3 references for each shortcut. I don't know yet if this is part of the problem but it doesn't look like it's a good thing.
My first inclination would be to delete all but the newest XML file for each reference.
Not sure if this is something that has been going on a while, if it is a design flaw, or if it just a workflow thing that we should be more mindful of, but here goes:
1. I data reference an alignment into a drawing.
2. I later data reference in a profile that was created from and associated with that alignment.
In this scenario, Civil 3D creates a duplicate alignment for the profile i.e., the orginal alignment is in prospetor as 'Alignment A' and the profile being data referenced in creates a 'Alignemnt A (1)' duplicate and associates itself with it.
This also happens if I bring in a different profile created from the same alignment IF the alignment was already present as a data reference in the drawing.
This seems wrong. It doesn't do any of this if I data reference the profile in first...
Is it possible to embedd data in a table so that a user can select from a group of data within one cell?
I use this technique quite often in Excel. One cell in a table can have various values: A, B, C, or D. While another cell can have a different set of values to choose from: BLUE, RED, ORANGE, or PURPLE. The user can pull down an arrow (similar to a dynamic block) and choose from a set list of values.
I am having duplicate objects in my files and I am wondering if they could be deleted. I think that I saw the option to select these kind of objects but now I need a remainder so I can get rid of the unnecessary stuff.

The problem is when I go to plot I get a warning message stating that "this plotter configuration cannot be used" and it goes on to list a few reasons why and selects the "none" plotter. Then when at the plot setup page I can continue to plot as I normally would. Why am I getting this warning and how do I stop it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a subdivision plat that I'm working on with a curved lot line. When I label this particular lot line, Civil 3D labels it like it's two different segments. In other words, instead of labeling the line as a 100 foot long arc with a radius of 100 feet, it labels it as a 60 foot arc and a 40 foot arc. I can't figure out how to combine the two segments.
All of the lots lines were created from polyline objects, and there was no break in the original line work (nor is there any indication of a break in this location when I select it).
I mostly use SAE and ANSI screws, bolts, pins and etc in my assemblies. It is tiresome to wade through the DIN, ISO, JAL and other components when looking for a particular inch bolt. Is there a way to unload the excess library listings?

We have a project that has some filled regions causing graphics issues. What happens is the plan elements around a filled region are being transposed onto the filled region causing a "ghosting" affect on the filled region. See attachment.
It is happening in both Arch and MEP and I've tested it with update 2 and update 3 installed. No changes with an audit either.
Using AutoCAD 2013 and a basemap that was created in an earlier version of AutoCAD (likely 2002), the coordinates of points exported from surveying equipment are changed when imported into the basemap. Why would the coordiantes be changing when placed on a basemap?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to insert a table linked to an Excel 2010 file, it works up until row 28, however, as soon as I add a 29th row to the table it no longer inserts the table. When I try and insert it, I press ok and nothing happens. I tried inserting it as a smaller table and changing the data link to a bigger range after it was inserted, it just didn't update to a larger range.
Is there a way of getting this to work without having to insert it as two different tables?
Here is what I would like to accomplish:
1. Construct a blank "template" drawing that already has a pre-determined data extraction table set up with every piece of valueable data that may or may not be used in the drawing showing values of zero (because there is nothing drawn yet of course)
2. The data extraction table is linked to an excel file. This excel sheet will recieve data from the linked CAD data extraction table and use the data in the pre-determined 'destination' cells to execute cost economics equations
3. I would like the data extraction table to be set up with all possible entities that may potentially get drawn into the drawing - I don't know if this is possible because in any data extraction table I have ever drawn, as soon as the entity the data table is accounting for is deleted from the drawing, the whole line from the table dissappears - in my case I would love for it to just show "zero" or null
4. The reason for all of this is to not have to create a new data extraction table and excel sheet every time - The two templates would already be linked, and all the drafter would do is draw the drawing, the appropriate data would show up in the data extraction table (eg. X amount of feet of poly line, X number of Y block), be pushed to the excel sheet in predetermined locations, cells would be linked on the sheet to execute costing equations.
I hope i have been clear enough that the project represented in the drawing does not have many possible components and that is why having them all listed in a pre-designed data extraction table would not take up much space, the benifit of having everything linked before hand is the goal.
I am using data extraction and data linking to an excel file to count blocks and list details. I need to be able to update automatically and the most trouble I have been having is that I need the images of the blocks to come out in the table as well. so far only have been able to get the text data to come out in the table.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn C3D (2012 or 2013), the Pipe Properties Dialog reports "Hydraulic Properties" of a pipe section. Through .Net (C#), I can access part data such as Hydraulic gradient etc but I cannot seem to find any reference to three members I see on the mentioned dialog aka "Flow Rate", "Junction loss" and "Return period".
I have "fudged" a term "Flow Rate" into the pipe part parameter definition file (AeccPartParamCfg.xml) and can access that programmatically but I think this "Flow Rate" in the Pipe Properties Dialog" is part of the Auotcad database and I cannot seem to find a route to get hold of it.
I wish to extract geometrical data from autocad 3d object (mostly poligons), like length, height and width. I can see them in the property of a single object, but when I want to extract them into a table or into an external file, I can't find them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI enter data into an Excel job setup worksheet. I then want to be able to extract data from given cells in the Excel worksheet, and have this become fields in AutoCAD. I do not want to use a table in AutoCAD - I want (ideally) to have the Excel data come in to AutoCAD as a field. I can see that Data Links tends to come in only to a table in AutoCAD.

For context, we are trying to find a good way to archive all the project files at certain milestones. eTransmit does a good job of gathering up all the files referenced in a sheet set. It appears to repath the acad xrefs but the drefs still refer back to the working model files.

What is the best way to export the information?
Schedule and linked to a spreadsheet?
(I have experience with schedules but not so much with linking to spreadsheets)

What is the best way to export the data that I can successfully train 20 designers on how to do it correctly.
So part one is determining the best method,
part two is training a group of designers to use it correctly.
I worked on getting a schedule out and linking to a spreadsheet but even after talking to my reseller support I feel that is too cumbersome. I would like a more streamlined process, you know the one, click here and presto!
I need to find a way to export my BOM data to an Excel spreadhseet. Some of my BOM's are in tables, most are not. I found a lisp routine that will export this data to a csv file, but it's clunky at best. I don't want to use the "ole" method, I don't feel like fighting that battle.
So outside of plotting to a "png", and pasting that into Excel, are there any other options that are feasible?

I have made a data link to an excel file. Then I bring it in as a table. I then adjust the text height and remove all formatting from the table. Unfortunately, after closing and re-opening the file, the table changes. I lose formating/cell alignment/text height. It isn't even consistent across the table. The lost formatting is only on the 2nd split of the table, the first side retains the corrected formatting. I have selected the option to not update excel formatting. I don't even get a notification the table is updating. There haven't been any changes to the excel sheet either....

I have a black logo with complex lines, text, etc. The only copies I have of the logo are with a white background (probably from having been saved on a document page?). I want the logo to have a neutral/clear background so that I can paste it on pages with gradient backgrounds, etc. and not have the white show.
