Often I'll render a preview of my work in Studio and want to change the timelines of 30 or 40 different parts. Each part can have 5 or 10 snippets of timeline (the blue lines in "Animation Timeline"), so I end up holding down CTRL to select the timelines I want to delete (easier to start from scratch than sort through a mess of timelines) and I end up clicking through 200 or 300 blue lines to delete them.
Is there an easier way to clear timelines for parts? I don't want to clear all the timelines for a particular part, just up to a certain point. For example, in a 30 second video, I might want to change the speed of the parts at the 10 second mark, so I just delete everything from 0:10 to 0:30.
Attached is a picture of the blue timelines I'm talking about. Not sure what else to call them.
I received a set of files from a client with .max extensions. Is it possible to open or import these into AutoCad? I would like to try this before going back to the client and asking for them in a different format.
I just installed the just released Visual Studio 2013 Professional x86 in a Windows 7 X64 with AutoCAD 2014 X64 computer hopping to check the Edit and Continue feature as advertised in [URL]
I think that something is not the way it is suppose to be at my ribbon I have a Inventor Studio icon but by defaults is not active (it's grayed out) so in order to turn it on I have to go to add ins and turn Inventor Studio off and than on again and in that way I am able to activate the Inventor Studio button but after that all the buttons in the Rendering Studio tab are inactive so I cannot use them. And I cannot figure out where is the problem. Is it because I am using the student version of the software and it has some kind of limitations on the rendering engine, or it is some kind of malfunctioning of my installation. Everything else is working normally I can modell I can do a rey tracing viewport renders but I cannot run the studio environment interface.
I want a command that sets a symbol's timeline position based on another symbol's timeline position.
My case: Im making a intercative animation of a room, where i have a black screen symbol ("filmepreto") with a opacity animation over my room image. That symbols adjusts de room ilumination.
I have a symbol with an animation of a curtain closing (cortina) and another one with a roof lamp that gets on or off controlled by a button. When the button that turns the roof lamp the position of the "filmepreto" must be the same of the curtain. Both the curtain animation and the "filmepreto" animation have the same lenght.
I have more things that interefere on the ilumation of the room but, if I have the code to sync the off state of them with the position of the curtain animation i think I can set everything.
I rendered the video previews on the timeline (5 video timelines) The length of the timeline is 1 hr 20 min. The first 37 minutes playsback fine but from that point on, the edited video flickers showings video from the footage on each stacked timeline. I restarted computer hoping that would take care of the problem but did not.
My keyboard delete key has stopped functioning in autocad regardless of the .dwg file. Also my right click options when an object is selected is now exactly the same as if nothing were selected. I cannot double click to edit text nor double click to edit a table cell.
I incorporated an architects drawing into mine, and brought in hundreds of linetypes and text styles. Whenever I cut and paste from that drawing, the linetypes come too. If I cut and paste within the drawing, I think the linetypes multiply. It's made the drawings almost unworkable.
I can xref the file into a new drawing, and edit the x ref to make it part of the drawing, which gets rid of the linetypes, but adds a prefix to every layer, block, text style etc.
I am using layer translate to convert from one set of standards to another. I have created a translation file with all the desired settings and everything works fine, except the old layers remain in the drawing after translating. Is there a way to delete all of the old (unused) layers after translation?
I have attached a file that has a surface, with holes in it. I need to heal the surface, or remove the holes.
In old mechanical desktop, when you untrimed the surface, the holes would go away. Now untriming does not eliminate the holes and extending the surface inward does not work either.
This seems like it would be a common task to need to be able to do with surfaces.
i have downloaded autocad on a new computer and i am amazed i can draw and dimension at the same time.
first of all how do you ENABLE and disable this option because the other autocad app that i have on another computer doesn't work like this and second, how come the delete button doesn't work and how to enable this option because right now i have to use other features such as Trim and it's slow.
I am using 2013LT. It crushed yesterday. Today when I opened my drgs. I can not edit text, delete anything. I also have noticed that menu under right click does not have the same options as before ie. block edit is not there and so on. I have opened differend dwg ones that I wasn't working on when it crushed and the same thing happed.
I opened my drawings with 2012LT and everything works fine.
I`m working on this architecture project and copied some clean lines to the file from a landscape design project.
Somehow these text styles showed up to my file (more than 50 text styles from xrefs, because of their strange names, even though I don`t have any attachment). And it says that I cannot delete them cause I`m using it.
I`ve tried out everything I could imagine and read about it. It doesn`t work. Now this simple .dwg file is very heavy and with a lot of unwanted text styles. Even if I try to copy just the lines to start over another file, all the text styles go together.
Tried:
PURGE AUDIT RECOVER WBLOCK TXTMRG (not sure how to use it) QTEXTMODE
Attached is one of the files that this happened to. As I`m working with a few attachments this happened to all of it. My default text style are "B3_1.5", "B3_2.0" and "B3_3.0". All the other are unwanted text styles.
We are using AutoCAD 2013 and our client is using Mechanical Desktop 2009 ,problem we are facing is that we are unable to see the object which they see in the same drawing by giving visible command. These unwanted objects remains even after purging the drawing and we are unable to delete at our end as we cannot see them because there is no such command like visible in AutoCAD.
I'm trying to delete a unused layer. But when I do that I get the following error (see attachment). I googled a bit and figured out that the LAYDEL command might solve my issue, but as I'm using Autocad 2013, that's not possible, as it doesn't have this command...
The block that causes the error can also be deleted, I tried with the purge command, but must be doing something wrong cause it didn't work. Oh yeah, with regard to the purge command, I see it this way (attachment 2), how can you display it in a window kind of view to get a better overview?
how to edit or delete existing material in the library? In a part, I can rename, delete and create new materials using the Material broser. But how to transfer this modifications to library?
The only way i see is to "save styles to style library", but with this feature only the NEW created materials get saved in the library. But how to delete or modifiy materials that are already in the library?
I have a excel sheet linked to my inventor file and I cant delete it. I really only need to change the starting cell, but I can't do that either. It works on some parts to right click on the folder in the parameters window and then select delete or change start cell, but on others it doesn't work.
I am making a CD cover and i made some print screens of an app and paste them into autocad, and then i design text, lines,... all in autocad. Now i need to print to .jpg and you need to select window for saving image, but window is rectangular, so a need to open image in paint and delete everything outside the circle (border of cd).
I get the "Standards - Violation Found" dialog box coming up only after I delete an object. The previous operation created an object that does not comply with standards, What do you want to do? Choose a standard object? Keep the nonstandard object? The object (dimension) was created correctly but when deleted I get the warning.
I finally have my first and only .Net version of a former VBA function running and I want to make it available to other users, but security is getting in the way. Copying the project even to a different location on the same local hard drive results in a security violation, let alone copying it to a network directory. I am using Visual Studio Express 2008 and cannot find the ClickOnce nor any Publish function written up on MDSN - do those tools only apply to exe style projects?
I did read about a work around of adding an allow remote flag to the AutoCAD configuration file, but that appears to be a massive security hole as it could (I think?) allow *any* malicious dll file to run.
Is distributing / publishing a dll project impossible with Express?

Look at the vifdeo file attached. I have not problem to create one component fade out (from 100% to 0%). But how to show the another component fade in (from 0% to 100%)? Studio does not allow fade from 0% to 100%.
I've been working in Inventor Studio (Inventor 2011) & every time I exit & return to the assembly environment I receive an error message (refer attached). Plus if I don't move the animation timeline back to the beginning prior to exiting, my model will display in its finished position but on the timeline be at the beginning when I go back into Studio.
Everyone at the office where I work is having the same problem with AutoCAD 2014:
1. When creating a new layer state, and selecting all layers and clicking "remove from layer state" and then "okay", upon going back into the layer state, about 80% of the layers have returned and you have to select all and delete again and hit okay, and then go back in and do it again, about 7 or 8 times total before the layer state is cleared out and ready for you to add back just the desired layers. Even if you don't create a blank slate layer state to begin with, whatever layers you delete, once you hit okay and go back into the layer state, most of the ones you just deleted are back.
2. Even more of a problem is that sometimes all the already created layer states will suddenly reassimilate ALL layers in the drawing, and the above process has to be done to all existing layer states.
This takes an enormous amount of time to correct for multiple layer states, which we typically have in a drawing.
I am having Visual Studio 2008 installed on my computer and AutoCAD 2008 as well. When i downloaded the ObjArx from AutoDesk and try to install ARX Wizards it says that you must have Visual Studio 2005 installed on the system.how to get the ARX wizards for Visual Studio 2008 ?
I collasped my animation window and I can't resize it to show my animation timeline. I can only resize the window left and right??? I have exited studio environment and re-enter and still can't resize window up and down.

I would like to animate and render a 30 second video of something similar to the attached assembly. I have been using Inventor Studio to apply animations to the components, render them as full frame AVI (800 MB files), and compress them with Sony Vegas Pro free trial (~120 MB).
The attached assembly is a simplified example and took me around three hours to model, constraints, animate, and render from scratch. Normally, the boxes are constantly starting and stopping and moving at different velocities. Defining distances and times is cumbersome especially since I need to be aware of the boxes' positions relative to each other so they do not appear to move at different speeds or overlap.
I think a solid modeling program might not be the best tool to animate loose components sitting on a conveyor belt. Inventor slows down and occasionally crashes when I get up to 40 or 50 boxes stopping and starting and moving at different velocities. I am inclined to think that 10 or 15 animated conveyor belts moving boxes with a coefficient of friction would be near impossible on my machine (modeling the belts similar to a track on a tank or a chain and sprocket, also constantly starting and stopping and moving at different velocities).
I haven't played with Showcase, 3ds Max Design, or Navisworks Simulate. Would it be worthwhile to try any of these to animate and generate videos?
I'm using 2011 pro. When I try to animate a positional rep in inventor studio, it complains that I don't have excel installed. (see attached image) although I do have it installed. I've put the hotfix on for excel, with no effect. I've repaired inventor and repaired excel no fix though.
I have a problem with Inventor 11 Studio. The reflection on the ground made by "XZ Reflective Gp" works in a way that when rendered, it shows a partial or cut reflection of my assembly, see attached .jpg file. I have not found yet where this "reflection depth" is regulated.
