AutoCAD 2013 :: Copy With Base Point - Paste Options Inactive
Aug 5, 2013
I am having trouble with copy paste . When I copy with base point, and try to paste all the paste options are inactive. is there a switch that I have off? What''s the fix.
When I download a drawing from some suppliers I find that I cannot do a "copy with base point" and paste that copy into my drawing except using "paste special" which leaves me with an unmanageable image. The source drawing has all the normal (it seems) attributes of a .dwg file and can be edited as a normal drawing; it just refuses to be "pasted" into my drawing. What am I missing here!
How to set 0 quardinates without screwing with the copy paste base point?
I use the command UCS, Object, Select my base point and measure from there rather than cluttering measurement lines; however, without using UCS, Previous when ever i copy and paste the base point for the copy paste is off.. yes i can reset just wondering why it does this.
I have been using copy paste with base point on block from drawing to drawing but sometimes the block insert but it is not showing. I go to insert block is there but does not show in the drawing. Then tried to purge it and it does not let me because it is in the drawing but I can find it any where. Then I tried to do the insert block look for the block and inserted as a block and the same result.
I have a 3D file (not of my creation) that gives me some problems when I try to copy it (it is a 3D building).
The problem is that, when i click on "copy" command, I can select a point but then AutoCAD crashes and it takes about 30 seconds to return working a normal way and permit me to paste it. (it happens with "move" command too)
Otherwise, if I use "copy with base point" I have no problems: after a second I can paste it where I want.
How can it be possible? Cause if sometimes I mistake and digit "copy", I always have to wait the long Autocad response.
This problem happens with both autocad 2012 and 2013 and it doesn't happen with other 3D files I have. The drawing is made mainly of meshes.
I have a Dell notebook and a NVIDIA Quadro 2000M video card, so you can understand I don't like this problems: I spent a lot of money for something I hoped could work well with AutoCAD.
About that, aren't there drivers for the graphic card? Cause when I click on "check for updates", autocad says me that there are newer version of the driver, but then it says me that it is impossible to update it (I have a connession and a student version).
When I'm copying an object like a bubble note callout (number 1 with a circle around it) I want to be able to snap to the end of the text string so I can copy it uniformly and spaced evenly.
Using the Copy(multiple) command button with the following sequence (working correctly): Copy command, window objects to copy, right click to close selection, pick base point,
pick new location point(s),...right click to close the command. But sometimes it decides to do this: Using the same Copy(multiple) command button with the following sequence (not working correctly):
Copy command, window objects to copy, right click to close selection, pick base point..At this point the copy comand closes out. It has assumed a single copy, 0,0,0 base point
& tossed the copied objects out in model space accordingly. But as stated it only does this periodically.
I am just trying to migrate from VBA to VB.net, I want to know, how we can manipulate the Ctrl+Shift+C, in vb.net, if it is not possible at all, then what is the best way I can find the alternate to this.
OR
If I try to use the wblockclone() then, how do I control the location of the objectcollection when I clone it in my new drawing.
in other words, when I in the proces of clonning I should be able to specify a base point.
I am taking some AutoCAD classes at the local community college, using AutoCAD 2012.
Using previous versions of AutoCAD the copy with base point is in the on screen right click drop down window.
To use the Copy With Base Point The Clip Board icon needs to be selected. How to get the Copy with Base Point and other paste commands in the drop down window as in all previous versions.
many times, when I copy an object with the a dimension to it. It keeps the base point of the dimension and has a crazy long leg of the dimension that starts from the original place. how can I stop this from happening?
When I use the copy with base point command in paper space and try to paste it into paper space of another drawing it seems to come in on a different axis or something. I can see the view ports as they are supposed to be however the text just shows as a line. It would be as if I were to put text in model space on top view and see it just fine then go to a front view and see just a line.
i have a 2 artistic text blocks (both with different fonts) in same corel document and when i ctrl+c/ctrl+v from one to other it copy/paste not only the text but also font type/size and color.
I want just the text copied not all the properties.
I was wable to write some code that makes some already drawn objects on autocad into a selection set. What I need to do next is copy the selected objects and move them over like a distance of 50 to the right.
I cannot seem to paste into this one drawing that a client has issued to me. I can paste into all associated x-refs just fine, but the main drawing is the issue. Before we get into things I have tried all the most common things already.
- I have checked layeer Visibilties and unreconciled layers.
- I have run audit and have purged/scalelistedit all drawings
- I have done almost everything ><
To sum it up I think it is global variable of some sort.
We installed 2013 version of Autodesk Civil3D, and strange things with Copy/Paste from one drawing to another happend!
If I try to copy some autocad objects like solid HATCH for ex,. from one file to another - I select drawing copy from, select Hatch, press Ctrl+C or rightclick > Clipboard > Copy, then select destination drawing, press Ctrl+V or rightclick > Clipboard > Paste, and I see in command window:
" _pasteclip Duplicate definition of block _Closed ignored.Duplicate definition of block _DotBlank ignored."The time interval is very long for single hatch copying.
I tryed audit/purge, and copying the HATCH again, - and now I see in destination drawing some strange array of LINE obects, it is not my HATCH! AutoCAD always starts do temporary save while doing this copy.
Else, if I open new two pure drawings, and start copy any types of acad objects between each other, so all works fine and quickly, no temporary saves, only remarkable pause starts above 20000 object copying, its quite acceptable for me, and still shorter time, than copy a single HATCH.
I suppose the problem is in drawing file, because if we make purge/audit than save and reopen drawing - sometines is it possible to copy, but after all we need to do this each time we want to copy acad objects to another file. This annoying issue have our another team members too, it prevents to do our job.
I found, that with HATCH object some blocks is ALWAYS copying from one file to another.
I still have a problem with copy and pasting drawings in the right units. I checked discussions but nothing seems to work. To make things less confusing for me I'll explain the situation in detail:
- I have a drawing file, in metres, that I want to copy to another file.
- My second drawing, in inches, is where I want to paste the drawing from the first file.
Let's say I have a line that's 1 m in the first drawing. When I paste onto the second drawing, it pastes as 1 in.
I tried insunits, units, etc. but it always comes out small when I paste it. Manually scaling the files will lose the accuracy.
When I use copy or copy with base point and paste or paste to original coordinates in another drawing, nothing is being copied.
I use autocad 2013
The isuue is dwg related. It only happens when i paste to some of my dwg (usualy the most important ones...). All the drawing files that are affected are in 2013 format, but if i save them to older version the problem persist.
I ve tried -purge r, purge a, audit, save -wblock explode, purge a, audit, save to no avail.
Tried many other solutions sa well, but nothing worked. What on earth could be wrong with DWG to prevent pasting from another drawing? Those drawings have been saved to lower formats before.
In some of my DWG files I can’t able to copy paste the elements from one file to another . For example, I can’t able to copy the level marks from one file to another. Both files are located in same coordinate.
If I copy a single line from a file then paste it into a new file with nothing in it and save, I end up with a 3 or 4 meg file. I noticed when I paste the line into the new drawing, I get the following message over and over:
Substituting [simplex.shx] for [OA_Edina.shx]. Substituting [simplex.shx] for [OA_2007.shx].
We have files that are 20 or 30 meg that should only be 1 or 2 meg. Purge and audit in the .dwg does not work. One way to fix it is to dxfout then purge and audit the .dxf file, then save back to .dwg. The audit typically finds tens of thousands of errors. This process takes a long time and the problem comes back as soon as someone copies something into the file. We need a more permanent fix.
I have had this issue in 2013 and now after downloadign 2014 the same problem has come up. Drawing is fine other than every so often after you copy a group of items and try to paste it as a block it thinks for about 10-15 seconds then when you are prompted to enter a base point it doesnt show up. I can however select items, copy, and paste as long as it is not a block. I have tried to copy and paste a block that consists of just two polylines so I know it is not a size issue. To add more confusion if I shut down my computer and restart open the same file and try to copy and paste the same item as a block it will allow me to do it once and then it wont work again. I have attached a screenshot of the command history while trying to paste as block. I am not sure why it substitued all of these items? I dont need to shut down and restart everytime I need a new block inserted.
we got the big size file (file A), we fix it then we copy/ paste information (e.g. texts) from the other bad file (file B). File A becomes big size again although texts were copied is simple.
A few of the computers are having problems with the Copy/Paste function. They had it working a few times and after that, it stopped working (can't paste after copying). Have tried restarting autocad and the computer but the issue is still there. Have also tried updating the service pack to the latest version. It works for a while and stopped working again.
When I try to Copy & Paste an object from one file to another, appears following alert window: “This application has detected a mixed version of AEC objects participating in this operation. Newer AEC objects will be disallowed from participating in this operation”. And I cannot paste the object copied from other file. This happened to me when I work with Autocad2010 using drawings saved as Autocad2004 in Autocad2013.
Since I am working in a group of people that have different versions of Autocad, I need the solution for this problem.
I want to paste text (numbers) into the command line as I am drawing a line.
In AutoCad 2011/2012 if I paste (CTRL+V), then the numbers in the clipboard will be pasted into the command line and all I have to do is push enter.
In AutoCad 2014 if I paste (CTRL+V), AutoCad will paste the clipboard contents as an mtext object into the drawing.
How do I change the behavior of AutoCad so that I can use "CTRL+V" in the command line?
For clarification these are the exact steps I am trying to do:
1. {type L}
2. {click a point in the drawing} 3. {type CTRL+V} // paste a number as a distance into command line 4. {type ENTER}
I know I can right click the command line and select paste. This option is unnacceptable for my use. I want to be able to CTRL+V text into the command line.
In the past (using Autocad 2007), I could copy my AutoCAD drawing and paste it into a sketch in Solidworks. Since my company updated to AutoCAD 2013, I can't seem to paste anything into the Solidworks sketch.
