I have a drawing that was drawn in 3D CAD and I need to convert to 2D CAD. I changed the view, but I cannot remember what the command is I need to type in to change to 2D.
View 3 RepliesI am using the ALIGN command to overlay two groups of blocks, I'm then using some VBA code to export the coordinates of the blocks to an excel sheet to make comparisons.
The issue I'm having is when I use the ALIGN command the coordinates exported are different to those in the drawing (but only for those moved using the ALIGN command).
I don't get this issue when I use the move, rotate and mirror commands, only ALIGN. What may be causing this?
I don't understand why the right click - open drawing command had to be put in a submenu. Is there a way to customize the commands on these right click menus other than the marking menu? I don't really like the marking menu, and I don't want to put it there. There was nothing wrong with where it was... There are so many commands in the basic right click menu that a good majority of inventor users don't use. At least give us the ability to customize this.

In 2013 (with out selecting trim all) the trim line didn't have to intersect the line you wanted to trim. We just upgraded to 2014 and I noticed that if I want to trim a line that the lines have to intersect. A line that doesn't intersect with the selected trim line will not trim.
I have been trying to use the tcase command to change text case on a current drawing. some of the text is listed in properties with :A1 and various other squares and ( etc .). Any way to change this text. When I try exploding it and changing to mtext the fractions and all parts of the text is exploded as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've seen this happen with a couple of the previous releases, but not for some time. After the CLOSE command is issued, the drawing graphics remain displayed but no AutoCAD specific keyboard or mouse input is accepted. More of an annoyance, I guess, as Control + O will then allow opening of another drawing file. This just started today for no apparent reason after using 2014 for the past week or so. Prior to this happening, my workstation locked up completely while trying to close a CAD file and Task Manager wouldn't take any input.

I am having trouble with baseview in AutoCAD 2014. It used to be that when entering the baseview command your ribbon would dynamically change to give the functions and features within the command. Seemingly in 2014 this no longer happens.I also find that after creating the view, I have inconsistent object snapping.I get endpoints on some objects, but not on others.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI press CTRL+9 to make the Command Line disappear while drawing. When I plot (or when doing a plot preview) , the Command Line appears again by itself. So I always have to turn the Command Line off manually after each plot
The bug still happens;
- if Dynamic Input is turned off or on
- if I plot to a real device or in PDF
- if the Cammand Line Palette i docked or floating.
This is not an issue in AutoCAD 2012 so I guess it has to do with the new way they programmed the revamped Command Line palette in 2013.

I realize it may be a Civil3D question. When I change my drawing scale in the "Drawing Settings" dialog box to 1"=40', for example. The Annotative scale in the Properties Palette changes to 1"=40'_XREF.

Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.

I would like to change the scale of a base view on a drawing based on a parameter in my assembly. The idea is to get iLogic to change the view using a simple If / Else statement.
This is what I tried:

So basically the value of "BP" parameter (excel parameter in my assy) would drive the scale of the views. But its not working. Is it actually a sensible method? Can I use in the drawing environment the excel parameters in my assembly?
This is the error message I get when the rule is run:
"Error in rule: View Scale, in document: 0 Generic Assembly v2.2.idw
Unspecified error (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL))"
Also using the same thinking I use iLogic to populate the drg number field on the drawing based on an excel parameter. The rule works but does not always updates the drawing no upon the parameter change or update/rebuild commands.
I have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.
Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?
I recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.
I'm trying to use the hatch command on a drawing. Everything seems to work fine, but when I hit enter after having used the hatch command, selected pick points etc. nothing happens on the drawing. There are no error messages.
I can use hatch without problems on other drawings so I suspect it has something to do with the drawing or I've overlooked a setting or two.
The case is I want move like a object like a screw out or in in the some assembly so to fit the place where it should go , I hope the screw could be an whole object instead of multible lines. The benefit is just to make the modification easier.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs many of us seam to do the option to save by default to an older version of AutoCAD or universal DXF format is selected, my problem is however when you save an existing drawing a prompt appears asking if 'Drawing*.dxf last saved in AutoCAD 2004 format. Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

Any issues when copying certain object within my drawing from one part of the drawing to another, after selecting the objects I want to copy, I select the destination point and I cannot see any of the objects that I am copying, the command stops working and then I cannot see any objects in my drawing at all....its like I am zoomed out all the way and nothing is in my drawing...I save the drawing as is (seeing nothing on my screen)...calling it up again and all my linework, etc. is there again...it has happened in two different drawings so far within the last few months, and these dwgs. are not linked to each other at all....

If I change view or zoom or scroll mouse center button in one drawing, the second drawing needs to be updated in the same view simultaneously with view changed event in C# .
Now, I have lisp code to do the same manually. What the code does is that, when I enter command "V" in drawing-1
it will store viewsize and viewctr variable in a text file. when I enter command "VV" in drawing-2

When i go to use the rad or dia. command, and i click on an arc surface (in paper space) the rad dimension will jump to the nearest arc, not the arc that i need dimensioned.
