If there was a way to retain original object layer properties when in base view. IE I have 4 layers, each with a different color. I would like to create a base view, and still keep the object layer colors. Is there a work around for this? Or should I just do an elevation and work through VP's?
View 2 RepliesI'm pretty sure there's a way to do this but I am not sure on what code to use. I would like to have the "number" field on my title block template always get the "part number" attribute from the first base view (or first part/assembly) on sheet 1. This will be regardless of what sheet I am using the title block on. I could even store it as a custom property or something as I won't ever have two different part numbers in one drawing.
To clarify on that, we may have a welded assembly that has one single part number, but as I'm designing it, I just add a -1, -2, etc. to the end of the part number for each component being made. In the end when they're all welded together, it's one part number. Since no one else needs to see my -1, -2 etc, I'd like it to pull the part number from the assembly on sheet 1 for every sheet.
Is it possible to automatically insert centrelines in projected views when using the base view command?
I believe it is possible with Inventor.

When making a Section view from a Base View is there a setting to make the text follow the Text Style and Paperspace text size. Everytime I create a Section View I have to change the text settings in the Properties box.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using 2013 and have a few 3D objects in the modeling space that I am using view base to put different views of each into the paper space. When I do this and export to PDF, I get an extra green line from the paper space. I have deleted and replaced the view and have tried different views with varying sucess.
Some pieces simply need a different view, however I have one that will not go away. The different view does really solve the problem either because I need the view with the problem. I have attached a picture of the issue, but it is just a chunk to protect information that I cannot share. The gray in the drawing is the part, the green line should not be there. The green line only shows up on the PDF, not in modeling space or paper space.
I've just recently been having a problem with the base view command. While trying to create the base view from model space all I get is the move command. Also from inventor the command changes to fillet. I've uninstalled AutoCad 2013 completly then reinstalled but continue to have the same problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAt my company, we do a large amount of work with sheet metal parts and assemblies. On our drawings, we like to do "detail" views of the flat patterns of each part of the assembly. Basically, how we do it now is insert a base view of the assembly and the BOM onto the first sheet and then on separate sheets, we place base views of the flat patterns for each of the components that will be cut on our cnc plasma table. We use the item number to denote which part it is in the assembly. Is there any way to pull the item number from the assembly BOM and use it as a parameter that can be inserted into the view label? Right now, it's a nightmare if the assembly BOM is modified because we have to go back in to each view label and manually change the item number.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI created multiple base views and projected views on drawing (autocad 2014). suddenly when I create base view it doesn't show anything, jumps to 0,0,0 coordinates (it is fixed can't be changed), scale can't be changed. It shows it is drawing view in properties, however when I want to edit (click edit then select the view , it won't recognize it is view). I created many views without problem, now all base views jumps to 0,0,0 coordinates....

That is what is happening now. I cannot seem to find any setting under the settings for the Layer Properties Manager that would change this.

I have been having this issues as of recently, and i am now no longer able to use my "Layer Properties Manager"
Every time that i try to open the "LPM" it gives me an error that says
I have never seen this error before but its making it very miserable for me to have to seperate my work in layers without the use of the "LPM"
I have already un-installed & re-installed twice frankly i don't have anymore time to do this because i have deadlines i need to meet and its becoming a very big pain.
This problem just started when I upgraded to 2014. When I try to set up layer filters the Layer filters properties dialog box does not show. I'm guessing the function is working its is just that the dialog box is poping up somewhere out of view of the monitors, forgot to mention it is a 2 monitor set up.

We will alter the Arch Base CAD file layer colors to a muted color for use as our backgorounds. We would sort the Layers by color, so that we could group them together to one base color, so basically layer colors 10-19 would then become 19, 20-29 would be 29, layer colors 30-39 would be 39, etc... If the colors were one of the 9 Base Colors (Red, Yellow, Green...) Red is effectivly the same as color as 10, so then we would make it 19, etc...
In 2007, even thought the sorting was by layer color, the layers rows would remain in the same location until we applied the changes. But in 2013, if we sort by color then alter the color, the layer row will automatically be re-sorted to its proper position in comparison to all other colors. OK I get that, but, if we are altering 40, 50, 60 layer colors, that auto re-sorting is annoying, because then we need to rescroll to our last location to continue.
So, is there a way to turn off the re-sort until we APPLY the colors.
Is there a way to get sheet number of the base view for the Selected Child view (Mainly for Section. Detail Views). Because the Section views, Detail views (initially they would have created on the same sheet where the parent is, then they moved to different sheets). So we place the parent view sheet number.

what could have happened in an assembly when I've changed the cube front view (3D)? The projection has changed automatically (the view) in 2D. In other assemblies didn't happened the thing I've mentioned before even if I did the same thing meaning that I've modified the front view but 2D stayed in the same projection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a clipping mask on a layer. The base layer that the clipping mask is referencing has a layer effect applied (in this case an inner shadow). I want to make it so the layer effect is only applied to the base layer and NOT the clipped layers.
Below is an example of what I'm talking about. as you can see, layer 1 has the base layer's inner shadow applied to it. I want the inner shadow to be hidden by Layer 1, but the clipping mask to still apply.

I have this drawing. 3d object. with multiple items. and would like to create a 2d detailed view of the items.
what i did was isolate the first item and did the base view command. after the command, I then hid the first item and isolate again the second item. but then I always get this pop-up menu that says "A model has changed" and my item is missing. I ignored the warning and poceeded with my second model and so, on. after the process I unisolated all my items and most of the drawings are there and some are lost. Is there a proper way of doing this base view for multiple objects without disrupting the previous drawing that I objects?
